hi bubby bears ! (i apologize for how cringy that nickname is) this is a pretty long chapter because i just didn't feel like stopping the writing of it ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘

anyways i hope you enjoooyyy!

The word heartbreaking couldn't describe the feeling I had felt while holding Harry as he sobbed in my arms.

I was right. Him and Cedric were dating.

Waking up the next morning wasn't much easier. My brain felt fuzzy and clouded, as if I were in a dream; which I knew immediately was from my sleep deprivation.

The weather had been getting colder ever since we arrived back at school, causing the idea to take a walk to form in my head. I was hoping the cold would break me out of this strange dreamy feeling.

Soon after I'm in uniform, I grab my coat and begin quietly walking out of the Slytherin dormitories. It wasn't in my plan to actually wear the coat as I wanted the cold to hit me as hard as possible, but I knew if a Professor saw me without one, they'd make me go get one.

And only a few minutes later, my point is proven.

"Be careful out there deary, I've heard it's getting quite cold, especially this early in the morning." Mcgonagall says as I pass her in an empty and slightly dark corridor. Her warm smile is comforting and welcoming as she looks at me pass her.

"I'll try my best," I give her a small smile, wrapping my coat tighter around me to bring her some sense of satisfaction.

I continue on with my mission to get outside, my shoes clicking lightly on the ground and echoing off the walls from the lack of people filling up the space.

The moment I get outside, it feels as though someone has just poured ice-cold water onto my whole body, but in the most wonderful way possible. I take in a few deep breaths as my coat slowly falls off my arms, landing on the ground.

Cold air fills my lungs quickly, before I exhale the warm fog that shows how cold it really is.

I throw my coat in a hidden place so it won't be stolen before I begin to walk out of the courtyard and to the area the quidditch field was located.

My arms cross over my chest as I stare at the field, the once people cheering full stands now empty and quiet. Still was a good word to describe how it looked.

My eyes begin to wander around at the other scenery, trees filling the field, some of them turning orange and yellow, or even red. A few of them still held their green colored leaves, one of those specifically catching my attention.

The tree seemed almost... familiar.

I begin to walk closer to it, thoughts flowing through my mind of why it could seem so familiar. It was only a plain green tree, much like the other trees in the field, but for some reason it seemed to stand out.

It's when I get to be about a foot away from the tree that one word pops into my mind.

Apparation.

This tree. This tree was the tree I apparated from when I went into the maze. The tree I hid behind when thinking of a plan on how to save Harry.

There was nothing special about the tree, especially because the maze it used to be near was now gone. The maze that had caused so much chaos and trauma.

I bite my bottom lip, staring at the place the maze used to be.

It felt as though I could hear a faint sound of the music that the Hogwarts band had played that day.

There were moments I considered the idea that I might be insane. Psychotic even. This was one of those moments.

Hearing sounds? Having slight flashbacks? Recognizing trees as if they meant anything?

And apparating. Surely I was insane for being able to apparate before I had even been taught to.

My mind starts traveling through different memories. Apparating when I was just 13 to win a stupid little quidditch game against the boys. Dumbledore finding it "fascinating" that I was even able to do so. And then Draco. Draco telling me that no one could apparate within Hogwart's grounds.

My brows furrow slightly with confusion at the thought. I had pushed it away at the time as just being an accident that stupid 13 year old me did. But then it happened again. Only months ago.

I begin to walk back towards the castle, the new mystery only motivating me to walk faster.

I'm zoned out throughout most of my classes, my mind only focusing on the curious thoughts that kept growing.

I knew Draco had found what he said in some book he read, though it was never clarified which book he read it in. So the mission was to find it.

Right as last period is dismissed, it's hard not to start sprinting toward the library from the amount of curiosity that had built up in me. Instead of sprinting though, I begin to quickly walk up the many flights of stairs and through the many crowded corridors.

I had decided that the book with the Hogwarts apparation facts was probably labeled in some sort of history book. I had considered it being in a book about apparating and disapparating, though ultimately decided that if a book like that even existed, it wouldn't include a random school.

Once I make it to the library, my eyes begin to glance at the many isles filled with shelves of books. I get to the section of isles labeled "H" and soon find an isle with a sign above it that read "History."

A sense of satisfaction fills me for a moment at the spotting of the word, though that feeling soon leaves me as I realize just how many books are in the isle. It could take many hours to go through all these books. Great.

I begin to graze some book spines with my fingers as my eyes read all the titles, only becoming further discouraged at the amount of books.

My hand soon lands on a dark green book with gold lettering, the title being "History of Wizarding Teleportation" which sparks my interest.

I slowly slide the book out from the shelf and open it up to the first page. Many chapter names are listed with their page number, which I begin to read through.

I bite my bottom lip anxiously as my eyes glance through the chapter names finding Trains, Floo power, Thestrals, and then there it was: Apparation.

I quickly flip to the page number it was listed to be on and begin to read about the history of it. It tells the story of how it was found out, and how it is taught to be done, though nothing was mentioned about Hogwarts.

An annoyed huff leaves my lips, my shoulders falling slightly. I close the book, reaching to put it back before a high pitched giggle distracts me.

My brows furrow slightly with confusion at the sound before I slowly slip the book back into it's place on the shelf. I wrap my bag around my shoulder before quietly walking to where the noise came from.

I peek my head out from the current isle I was in, glancing different directions before I spot where the giggling had come from.

My eyes squint with anger immediately at the sight of Draco "tutoring" a girl. A quiet scoff leaves me before I turn around to look away from them, my eyes rolling with frustration.

Just yesterday Draco was practically begging me to say I regretted asking to be his friend, but now today he's making stupid jokes for a stupid girl to giggle at.

My anger continues to rise before a realization hits me.

Draco knows. Draco knows exactly what book it's in.

A boost of confidence fills my body, before I wrap my bag tighter around my shoulder and begin to quickly walk over to the two of them.

I loudly place my hands out on the table that they were working at, an innocent smile playing at my lips.

Draco's eyes slowly look up at me, though he almost looks more amused than confused.

I take satisfaction in the confused and slightly angry look the girl now had on her face.

"Well hi there," I say in an overly friendly and high pitched voice. "I just wanted to let Draco here know that I want the apparation book. Y'know... for tonight." I give the girl a small wink, earning a disgusted look in return.

My eyes meet Draco's, watching as he quirks an eyebrow with confusion yet excitement. I quirk an eyebrow back at him, before looking at the girl with a cheesy innocent smile.

"Can't wait," I scrunch my nose up and clasp my hands together as if I'm excited before I turn around and walk away.

I suppose the phrase "mission success" would be the perfect phrasing for right about now.

I didn't pay much attention to Draco throughout dinner, as I knew I'd already have to spend many hours with him that night for prefect duty

I wasn't totally sure if he'd bring the book, nor if he even knew what I was talking about, though I had a small gut feeling that he did, and he would.

I had picked out a book to read while I waited for him in a corridor near the Slytherin dormitories where we usually met before going to our duties. I was sitting on the cold ground, my back leaned up against the wall as I read the book I picked out.

After a few minutes of reading, the sound of footsteps enters my hearing and I immediately look up. There Draco was, his green and grey Slytherin quidditch sweater fitting him a little better than it did last year, and the white collar of his shirt underneath poking through the sweater.

Once I distract myself from his slightly wavy hair (which was a rare but quite nice sight), I notice a book in his hand. A small breath of relief leaves me as I take a few steps forward and reach out for it.

"Woah woah woah, hold on now." He hides the book behind his back, holding his hand out to stop me.

My brows furrow with confusion at his action, which brings a small smirk onto his lips.

"Shouldn't I get something in return for bringing this book to you?" He cocks his head to the side.

I cross my arms over my chest and lean on my hip slightly. "What could you possibly want from me?"

"It's more of what I want of you, not from you," He says, his smirk growing more arrogant by the second.

I give him a confused expression, looking him up and down quickly as to tell him to go on.

"The necklace." He states nonchalantly.

"What necklace?" I ask with a small scoff, though the answer is quite obvious.

He chuckles lowly, looking at the ground as he shifts his standing position slightly. "The necklace I gave you. I want it back on you."

I bite the inside of my cheek with anger at his request, avoiding his eyes.

"Put the necklace back on, and the book is all yours." He explains softly, though it sounds much more like a command than an explanation.

"Why would I do that?" I ask, finally looking back into his eyes.

"You want this book don't you?" He asks, lifting his eyebrows slightly.

I roll my eyes at his answer, shaking my head slowly. "I mean whats the meaning of me putting the necklace back on? Why do you want me to do it?"

He looks at nothing in particular for a moment, clearly thinking of some sort of excuse. "We're friends are we not?" He finally asks.

My brows furrow slightly with confusion, as I hold back to urge to respond sassily. "Sure."

"Right. Well that gift was from me to you, and friends wear the gifts they give each other."

I stand in silence for a moment, finding it harder and harder to look at his grey eyes.

"Draco that was when we were-"

"Look I can go put this book back in the library if you really don't want it," He interrupts me, beginning to walk backwards.

"Don't-" I say, a commanding tone in my voice. "I'll go get the fucking necklace."

Draco gives me a satisfied and smug smile before I walk away to the Slytherin dormitories.

It was surprising to see that Pansy wasn't in our dorm, though my feeling of anger quickly took over that shock.

I knew what he was doing. He was trying to claim me. Trying to feel as though he still had some sort of power over me.

I grab the necklace from the box of jewelry under my bed, holding it in my palm for a moment. A cold silver ring. A cold silver ring with stars engraved into it. A ring that was a symbol of all our old memories.

I close my hand around the ring on the chain, sick of feeling sentimental before quickly walking out of the dorm and heading out of the common room.

The feeling of anger grows within me as I watch that arrogant smirk begin to grow on Draco's lips from the sight of me with the necklace.

"Better?" I ask, holding the necklace by the chain so he can see it.

"Not at all. It's not even on." He huffs humorously, taking the necklace from me.

My brows furrow slightly with confusion though I don't have time to question the action before he walks behind me, wrapping his arms around me as he unclips the necklace, before wrapping it around my neck and clipping it in the back.

His cold fingertips touch my neck for a second, causing a shiver to rush down my spine as I stand there.

I slowly turn around to face him, my anger now gone, shock filling its spot instead.

"Perfect." He gives me a small smile, glancing down at the ring that lay at the end of the chain.

Our eyes stay locked together for a few moments, the tension rising rapidly.

I clear my throat quietly, breaking the eye contact. "So- the book?"

It takes him a moment to realize what I'm talking about before he nods his head a few times, walking over to the book he had laid on the ground.

He slowly hands it to me, a small pause in the action once I grab the other side. His eyes meet mine for a moment before he lets go of the book, glancing at the necklace on my neck one more time before beginning to walk away.

"217," He yells back to me, once he's almost down the corridor.

"Huh?" I yell back, slightly amused by the yelling of a random number.

"Page number." He turns his head to look at me one more time before turning the corner.
