Hi bubs!! Sorry for the kind of late post, I was playing video games all day instead of writing sorry😛
Anyways, enjoy!!
The cold win rushes through my hair as I run as fast as I can to my father.
The train ride felt so long, as I was anticipating seeing him once again. Although I had gotten letters from him throughout the first few months of school, it was hard not being with him. Hard not being there to make sure he was going to be okay.
My arms wrap around him tightly, my feet standing on my toes to reach over his shoulders.
I needed this. A break from school, a break from the drama.
"Merlin, I've missed you so much!" I mutter into his sweater, not wanting to let go.
He held me tightly as well, seeming to have missed me as I've missed him.
"C'mon let's get inside, it's cold out here." He smiles sweetly, breaking apart from the hug.
I nod in response, picking up my trunk once again and admiring the house before walking in.
It was always weird coming back home and spending the night somewhere other than my dorm room, though I absolutely loved my house. It was a rather small house, always warm and cozy inside.
It was made of mostly wood, reminding most of our guests of a cabin. Walking in, there was a small hallway for coats and shoes, then a kitchen to the right. The kitchen then lead into the dining room, where we usually only ate when people were over.
The living room was to the left, which lead into my father's office, and near his office was a small room my mother insisted on making her dancing and singing studio, though it clearly had no use anymore.
My grin soon faded slightly as I spotted the small room, remembering her teaching me dances or songs. That room was where most of my happy childhood memories were.. though they didn't seem very happy anymore.
I turned my gaze slightly to the right, a happy feeling once again erupting throughout me, as I spotted my bedroom. It was probably the smallest room in the house, though I absolutely loved it.
"I'll start on dinner while you unpack." Father says softly, smiling at me before making his way to the kitchen.
I nod slightly at him, before glancing back at my bedroom and smiling.
As I walk into the room, I notice it is exactly how I left it. My gaze travels across every bookshelf, smiling at the childish books I used to read. My brows furrow slightly as I finally look at my bed, noticing a certain brown teddy bear isn't there anymore.
"Father- do you know where Teddy is?" I ask, peaking my head out of the door.
I almost laugh at the name, though I knew he'd know what I was talking about.
"Oh-" he clears his throat. "Yes.. I moved it to my room. Reminds me of you," he says smiling at me. "I'll go get it though-" he adds on, rushing over to his bedroom.
"No-! No it's okay, I want you to have it," I say quickly, holding my hand out for him to stop.
He nods slightly, a smile on his face as he walks back into the kitchen to continue dinner.
Although it made me happy knowing he was keeping the bear, it also reminded me that he missed me. It reminded me that him holding a teddy bear at nighttime helped him, because I couldn't be there to.
I frown slightly, before taking a deep breath in, opening my trunk. It doesn't take long for me to hang up all my clothing, as I couldn't fit too much into it.
Right as I finish hanging up the last shirt, father appears in the doorway, a grin on his face.
"Dinner's ready!" He says excitedly, gesturing me to the kitchen.
"Perfect timing," I smile, making my way to the kitchen.
My nose is immediately met with a delicious smell, my eyes met with food. He had made homemade pizza, like he always used to. I never realized how much I missed his cooking, until I came home over break or summer.
Growing up, mother was always busy with singing, acting, or dancing so she never learned to cook. Luckily though, father loved to cook, and was very talented at it as well.
"Thought you'd like some homemade pizza for your first night back." He says, smiling sweetly.
"You know me so well," I chuckle, grabbing a plate and placing some pizza onto it.
Once we've both got our food, we glance at each other, a small laugh leaving my mouth.
"Should we eat in the dining room?" Father asks, glancing at the table in the other room.
"Are we proper or something? Of course not." I laugh, walking over into the living room.
I sit on one of the couches, placing my drink down on a coffee table next to it. I find the remote quickly, turning on the tv.
I knew if anyone else from school was here, they'd be extremely confused by the tv, as it was a muggle thing. And although I was indeed a pureblood, my family always found a liking within muggle things. I mean, how could you not find entertainment in something that had such dramatic shows, or comedic movies, or really anything else.
We sat in the living room for the next hour or so, laughing occasionally at the tv show. I hated that it was strange not having mother here. I hated how much it changed the atmosphere of the whole house, but I had to get over that.
I never mentioned to father the recent letter I got her, nor did I ever write her back. I had a feeling she already told him, there was no reason for her not to.
My thoughts were soon interrupted by a loud yawn from my father, his arms stretching over the couch he was laying on.
"I should probably go clean the kitchen now," he glances over at me, his eyes seeming heavy.
"I'll do it, you go to bed," I smile at him, standing up from the soft fabric of the couch.
"You sure?"
"I'm sure! I'm not tired anyways, and I really don't mind." I respond, walking over to the kitchen.
"Alright then," he smiles, standing up from the couch. "Goodnight, Y/n." He says softly, waving slightly at me before disappearing into his room.
I smile at him until he's gone, sighing as I look at all the dishes. I honestly didn't mind cleaning up, it was more of just releasing the slight tension I had felt since I arrived.
Though I loved coming back home, I still wasn't used to her not being here. I wasn't used to not hearing the constant vocal warmups or songs she'd sing. The constant skipping around and small dance moves she'd do, as her laugh filled the room.
A small smile formed on my lips as I thought of all the memories. I didn't always have to think about the mother that left my father and me, the one who decided her dream meant more than her family. I could think about the one who loved me, the one who made a room light up. The one my heart wanted to believe was still real.
I glanced around the kitchen one more time before deciding it was clean. I slowly made my way to my room, admiring the house I grew up in.
Once I got to my room, I gave Crow some food and sat down on my bed. It was quite strange not having Pansy or Daphne to talk to before I fell asleep.
I sighed, turning my head and gazing out my window. A sense of sadness sparked through me as I looked at the stars. They usually reminded me of my love for them, or my father, but now they reminded me of him. Draco Malfoy.
They reminded me of endless nights talking to him, laughing and teasing each other as we stared at the stars. They reminded me of the friendship we created, the distraction he always seemed to give me. Though that friendship was no longer, and he made that clear.
I bit my bottom lip gently, glancing at Crow before I looked back at the window. Something in me urged myself to go outside and stargaze, so I decided I would.
Crow stepped onto my arm, glancing out the window as if he understood where we were going. I wanted to let him have some time to explore and fly around, even though the main reason I was going out there was for myself.
I quietly tiptoed outside, hoping I didn't wake my father.
A deep breath I had apparently been holding in left my mouth as the cold air hit my skin. I didn't shiver though, it was more refreshing than freezing.
Crow flew off my arm, adventuring up into the sky. He soon landed on the roof, his head turned upwards as he seemed to look at the sky.
A breathless laugh leaves my mouth as I watched him. Even my owl seemed to like stargazing.
My arms wrap around my body, the cold seeming to take a slight affect on me. I slowly sit down in the grass, my gaze not turning from the sky.
I loved how easy it was to see the stars here. There weren't any lights in the way, or any buildings distracting from it.
A smile formed on my lips as I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath in, and exhaling all my stress.
I jumped slightly as a sound in the distance distracted me, though I soon laughed when I realized. It was sad that I almost forgot about Della, our families horse. I used to ride her a lot when I was younger, though I didn't have much time to anymore.
She was a rather small horse, an Appaloosa to be exact, with white and black spots all over. She had grown quite old now, though still seemed to be healthy.
I grinned at her before standing up, and walking over to the stable. We used to have a pony that kept her company, though she had lots of health issues and sadly didn't last too long.
Once I was close enough, I reach my hand out slowly to her, making sure she recognized me before scratching her muzzle gently. She had always been a calm horse, though her sass kicked in whenever she didn't want to do things.
She leaned into my hand, stepping a bit closer to me, though a gate stopped her.
"Missed you too, Del." I chuckle softly, my hand moving up to her forehead.
I spent the next 30 minutes or so outside, before deciding I should probably head off to bed.
After I said my goodbyes to Della, and got Crow back down, I headed quietly back inside, quickly making my way back to my room.
I change into my pajamas, putting Crow back in his cage before landing on my bed.
My eyes stare at the ceiling, thoughts running through my mind, before my eyes get heavy and I fall asleep.
