Alastor's POV
She slowly rose, her wings thumping around her body. She had not changed out of her demon form and her eyes glowed a vibrant shade of violet. "We are not here to hurt you, I promise."
"Yet." I heard Blitzo's voice whisper behind me. I shot him a murderous look and then turned back to the matter at hand.
"Why?" Her voice broke, sadness written all over her face. "I haven't done anything to warrant this."
"You have not. But I'm worried you will destroy yourself in this process of overtaking Hell."
"It's not overtaking, I'm trying to save it! This book," Her prophecy book appeared in her hands in a cloud of purple smoke. "says I will overtake it, but you said yourself that a prophecy does not define me."
"It does not define you, but it is defining the evil that I awakened inside of you."
"You didn't wake any evil in me."
"Darling, I did. When I showed you your powers for the first time, it awakened your shadow. She is the evil residing inside of you."
Her face showed confusion and worry, but then scrunched as if she was in pain. She held her hands over her ears.
I walked closer to where she was hovering, "Please, let me save you. I don't want you to be hurt or to hurt anyone else."
Her eyes locked on me and she started to lower towards the ground. Her hand landed on mine and clasped it. I looked into her eyes, a softness filling them. "It will not hurt you one bit, I just need to separate you from your shadow."
Transforming from soft to harshness, her eyes glowed a vibrant purple. Her hand grew into claws, sharp teeth filled her mouth, and horns sprouted from her head. She wrenched her hand from me and flew further above, out of reaching distance.
Her wings seemingly grew larger, horns sprouting at the ends. "You will not separate me. I will not be blasted from existence because you want to stop my and y/n's power." Her voice was deeper, a rasp emerging from it. No longer was I speaking to my y/n.
"You are hurting her Ena. You are corrupting her innocent soul. You will destroy her."
She let out a laugh, a wicked grin spread across her face. "Oh, my darling Alastor. Y/n was never innocent. Do you remember all of the demons she killed? This whole 'intervention' is for your own benefit. You are threatened by us."
I felt the eyes of the demons I had recruited shift towards me. They had all brought up this concern, and rightfully so. But this is something the old Alastor would do.
"No longer. I have become influenced by y/n's sweet and just soul. She has been corrupted by you. This is not an intervention, but they are here to stop if you intend on fighting back."
"Ooh, scared of me, huh?" She glanced down at her hands, the tips of her fingers slowly growing black and the shadow spreading to her forearms. It faded into her regular skin color, but dark vines started to appear, winding to her shoulders. The vision I had seen when I first saw her was starting to come true.
Ena tilted her head back, fists clenched. She inhaled a deep breath, "It feels good to finally come into this power. We are growing closer, y/n and me, we are not to be trifled with, Alastor."
I gave a small flick of my hand, signaling to those around me. Everyone got into their defensive positions. Blitzo and his small group were armed with net guns and other tools to take Ena down, Stolas was ready with his magic. To my right were Charlie, Vaggie, Angel, and Cherri. Charlie was ready to use her powers. Vaggie, even though she was told not to, brought her angel staff. Angel Dust and Cherri had various weapons, but most were hidden on their bodies. Their instructions were to not hurt y/n in any way, just incapacitate her.
I glanced toward Charlie. She had a worried look in my eyes, but I could sense her trust, Vaggie not so much. She only trusted her girlfriend, and I couldn't blame her.
I turned back towards where Ena was now flying ahead. I whispered through the bond we had, sensing the darkness pulsing through her mind. "Come back to me. I know you are in there." I stopped for a moment, sensing a shift.
Then I continued, out loud and through our bond. "You can feel what she is doing to you." I felt a push, she was in there, but I don't know if she was strong enough to respond.
"You need to push back. I'm not going to hurt you, I just want to separate you from Ena. It will save you."
A loud sound ripped through my head, "Yออขฬฃฬฬoฬอขฬฏฬฑอuอฬฬกฬญฬ aฬคอฬอฬrฬฆอฬฬดฬจeฬฬฃฬฟอฬ jฬชฬฬฎฬอฉuอฬฬกฬญฬsฬ าอ ออtฬฬฬฒอฉฬ tฬฬฬฒอฉฬrฬฆอฬฬดฬจyาฬอฬฬiออฬฬอnฬฃอฬฬฬคgฬฬฝฬออ tฬฬฬฒอฉฬoฬอขฬฏฬฑอ sฬ าอ ออaฬคอฬอฬvอฬอญฬฬeฬฬฃฬฟอฬ yาฬอฬฬoฬอขฬฏฬฑอuอฬฬกฬญฬrฬฆอฬฬดฬจsฬ าอ ออeฬฬฃฬฟอฬlฬฬฬพออฃfอฬอ ฬตฬ." I was ripped from the bridge where our minds connected.
I looked up to where Ena was. Her fangs were exposed and she swooped down towards the ground, "YOU CAN NOT BEAT US ALASTOR."
I signaled to the group, and the plan started. Everyone dodged out of the way of the diving Ena. Stolas and Charlie rushed to get behind her. Two of the imps, I think Millie and Moxxie, jumped onto Ena's back, trying to pull her wings down. She shook them off, blowing them away with a powerful blast of purple electricity.
She flew back up into the air to get out of reach of the imps, then she summoned her scythe. I opened a portal and summoned my black tentacles. I reached them towards Ena, to stop her from flying away any further, but that opportunity was quickly cut down and she slashed through everything I threw at her.
Stolas and Charlie had finally gotten behind Ena and they both cast a binding spell on her wings and arms. The beams of their power shot towards her and finally connected. As the binds wrapped around her hands, the scythe lost connection to her power and disappeared.
She screamed in rage, an unearthly sound was released from her throat. The imps released four nets, securing them around her fallen body. Cherri and Angel rushed to restrain her flailing legs. I wrapped tentacles around her midsection to restrain her further.
She wrenched her head up to look at me, and she laughed. "You think this is all it will take to restrain me?! You selfish fool!"
Within a matter of seconds, she cut through all of the material surrounding her. She opened portals underneath both Stolas and Charlie, dropping them across the field and breaking their binding spell.
She swept a leg underneath Cherri and Angel at the same time, knocking them down and then proceeding to trap them inside a bubble. They banged at the sides, but they had no possible way of getting out.
She shot lighting at me, but a leaped out of the way to avoid them. I heard the ground being struck almost under my feet as I ran. I called out through our mental bridge.
"Please. Y/n. Come back to me. I know you are in there. I can sense it. I just need--"
"GET OUT OF MY HEAD."
Y/N's POV
A scream came from my mouth, but it was not my voice.
I had been shoved towards the back of my mind. I could see everything happening, I could feel everything happening, but it felt like I was in sleep paralysis. I couldn't make anything part of my body move.
I wanted to emerge from the back but was continued to be pushed down by Ena. She assured me it was for the best.
Everything that was happening started to feel wrong.
I saw Angel and Cherri trapped in the bubble, I was firing lightning at Alastor. The imps were starting to fire nets, but they were slowly getting blasted further back. I flew higher into the sky, but it felt like an out-of-body experience.
Then a voice popped into the place I was being kept. "Come back to me."
I reached out for it, recognizing Alastor's voice, but Ena stopped me. "You know exactly what he is trying to do. Let me handle the demon and he will no longer stop us."
"Ena, I don't want to hurt him, or my friends. This is dangerous."
"You do not see y/n. I will not let you weaken us."
I was pushed further back into my mind, everything becoming hazier and dimmer. Echoes followed into the dark recesses of the space. I couldn't feel any of my limbs.
I saw myself--or Ena--dive down towards Alastor. My eyes widened in fear. She was going to try and kill him. I used all of the strength I had to take control of the body. I closed my wings flung my body further away from my Alastor.
We-I-We, I had no idea who was in control of the body, but I had feeling in my limbs again. We had hit the ground hard, dirt was piled around us from where we had landed.
I felt Ena's power coming over me, trying to drag me back to the pits of my mind. I saw Alastor run closer to me. I screamed, both out loud and through our bond, "I DON'T HAVE CONTROL FOR MUCH LONGER. GET AWAY OR YOU WILL ALL GET HURT. PLEASE, YOU CAN'T STOP EN--"
I was dragged away from the control of the body. All I could see was fear in Alastor's eyes, something I had never seen before. I reached out toward the bond. It took so much more effort than it ever had before.
"Alastor, I am begging you. LEAVE. Take everyone with you. I can't stop her. I'm sorry."
His voice was quiet, almost a whisper, "I will not leave you."
Sadness welled up inside of me, and surprisingly, my black tears started to leak from my eyes, even when Ena was in control of my body.
I whispered back to Alastor, "Please."
"Never."
Ena wiped the tears streaming down her-our- face. Her voice echoed through our mind.
"Oh my dear Alastor, it doesn't even feel like you are trying."
"It may not seem like it, but y/n certainly is."
My view of Alastor was slammed to the side as we were body-slammed by Angel.
His voice screamed in my face. "LET HER GO." He had pinned my hands and wings down but was thrown to the side like a useless rag doll.
Ena tried to get up again but was pulled down once again by Vaggie and restrained by Charlie and Stolas. She pointed her angel spear at my neck. "Don't you move?" Her voice dripped with poison.
The tip touched the hollow of my neck. If Ena moved up any further, we would be pierced through. I felt a smile spread across my face, "You puny moth." Electricity flowed through my body to where she was standing, and through the restraints that Charlie had held.
We stood, surveying the damage. Most of everyone was on the ground, except for Alastor. Ena bent to pick up Vaggie's spear. She stalked over to Alastor, who stood tall at the edge of the forest. I was enraged that he wouldn't hurt my body. I knew he had the power, but he vowed he would never hurt me again.
"Seems you didn't try hard enough Alastor. You should've known your reinforcements couldn't beat me." We were getting close enough that I could see the emotion in his eyes.
He still looked confident, but he didn't move a muscle. Calm anger radiated from him, something much scarier than everything I had ever seen.
"You have no right to take over her body. She does not want to be on your side. It will be hard to take over Hell when the host of the body is working against you."
"You have no right to advise me on what I should do, Alastor." She stalked closer to him and pointed the spear toward his neck. "I am in control now. Any last words?"
"I in fact do."
Horror filled every part of my mind. I was going to lose him. I screamed with all the rage and sadness that I felt, "DO NOT TOUCH HIM. I WILL WORK AGAINST YOU UNTIL THE END OF TIME ENA."
I heard her disgusting laugh. "Oh, it seems your lover is still trying to fight for you."
He smiled as a rustling was heard in the bushes. A figure approached into the dappled sunlight of the forest.
No. He had brought Stella.
She looked small next to Alastor's stature. No fear could be seen in her eyes. She stood tall and walked toward us. Thankfully, Ena stayed rooted in place. She knew who Stella was.
"Y/n, come back to me. Please. I know you are in there. You've fought for your life before, I know you can do it again."
Her statement brought tears to our eyes once again. I reached through the bond, "Get her, yourself, and everyone else out of here. Now." I heard nothing back from the other side.
I pushed back against the place of my mind Ena had put me. I felt suffocated. I pounded against the sides of the 'cell' I was. I screamed at the top of my lungs. "LET ME OUT!!!"
It made Ena flinch, her stance was altered from my scream. Alastor looked like he had even heard it.
But Ena continued on like nothing had happened. She let out a laugh. "You even brought her old pet to try and stop me? A useless human could never." She raised the spear once again.
Fear filled Stella's eyes, but she was quickly sent through one of Alastor's portals. "Ooooo where did you send her now? I wanted to kill her and get her out of the way." We looked around the field, and everyone was starting to disappear from where they were laying. One by one.
They were gone.
He had actually listened to me. I whispered through the bond. "Thank you. Now please, get out of here yourself."
He didn't respond but I saw him shake his head slightly as Ena met his eyes once again. He knew I was in here.
"I will not be going anywhere. I am not leaving without y/n."
"Unfortunately, you will. But you won't be returning to Hell." She raised the spear back to his neck.
I screamed once again, hitting against the walls as hard as I could. Everything seemed as if it was in slow motion. Thoughts came rapid-fire.
She cannot hurt him.
She cannot touch him.
She is not in complete control.
If I can make her cry, then I could stop.
I WILL WIN.
She laughed as she continued to press the knife closer into his neck and as I continued to pound on the walls of my prison. I saw a drop of black blood fall onto the spear. And all he did was smile.
Rage rippled through every part of my body. "YOU WILL NOT HURT HIM." I knocked us to the ground, using all of the strength that I have felt in the past.
I thought about the pain of my abuse. The pain of losing my family. Being alone for all of that time. Getting shot while in Hell. My friends getting hurt. My darling Alastor getting hurt.
I used my hand to pick up the spear. "YOU WILL NO LONGER BE IN CONTROL." She tried to take over again, the battle finally coming out into the real world. I was surrounded in a whirlwind.
Her claws raked into me. "We are more powerful together! We will lose everything that we worked for, look how far we have come! We only have one more enemy in the way." I fell to the ground, clawing at the voice in my head.
"GET OUT OF MY HEAD."
"You are acting like a love-sick teenager. What you have with Alastor, it isn't real. He is only using y--"
"No, you are using me, my body, for your own desires." She continued to speak and try to influence me, but a thought stood out in my head.
Tears filled my eyes as I realized what I had to do. I looked to where Alastor was standing. He had started to come closer but kept a lot of distance so he couldn't hurt me.
We locked eyes, and that's when he started running.
I reached where we had dropped the spear when I threw us away from Alastor. Ena tried to reach for the spear, but I was in control now. She couldn't stop me. If I was gone, she would be too.
I looked back to Al, still running towards me. I shot a message down the bond. "I have to do this. It is the only way we can ever win. Just know that I. Love. You."
Then I plunged the knife into my chest.
Alastor's POV
"Y/N!!!"
A demonic scream rang through the clearing, and then all went quiet.
I ran to where y/n's body was kneeling, the knife still in her chest. Blood dribbled onto the green grass I knelt on the ground and pulled her closer to me.
"No, no, no, no. This isn't what was meant to happen."
"She was growing stronger, Al," her voice was quiet but strong. "This was the only way to stop her."
"It's fine. Everything is fine. We just need to keep the knife in and I could save you--" Before I could stop her, she ripped the knife from her chest, her wound bled much faster now.
"I have to die Al." Her voice was so weak that she started to speak through our bond. "I can still hear her whispers echoing through my mind. If I live, then she lives."
I cradled her closer to me. "Please. Please don't leave me. It wasn't meant to happen like this." Jet black tears fell from my eyes. My entire body was trembling.
Her hand reached up to cup my cheek. She brought my face to hers and she kissed me. "Please help Hell become better. Tell my friends that I love every one of them and that I am so sorry."
She separated herself to stare into my eyes, "I love you Alastor. Never blame yourself, this was my choice. I love you with all my soul." I felt her body start to go weak in my arms. I hugged her closer to me. Blood seeped into her hair, the scarlet standing out starkly against the snow-white locks.
"I love you too, y/n." She smiled weakly and grabbed my hand. I wept as the life drained out of her body and the bond between us disappeared. I whispered the words over and over again, rocking back and forth. "I love you."
The world fell silent as her soul slipped through my hands.
