Alastor's POV

She was in my arms again. She was finally safe. They will never touch her again.

This was the first time that I had cried since I died. I didn't think I even had the ability to make tears anymore. I couldn't hold them in, or be strong for y/n. The relief of having her with me pushed them out.

I held the earpiece out to her after we held each other. "I believe this is yours." She smiled weakly, the smile not reaching her eyes, and took it from my hand. The imps had been in my ear for a day and a half, it had been incredibly taxing on my patience, but it was all worth it for y/n.

Something had changed in y/n's eyes. They had beat the sparkle out of them. She put the earpiece in and started talking. "Thank you so much, guys." She paused for them to talk and then continued speaking.

"Thank you again." She took out the earphone and held it in her hands. Without thinking, I scooped her up in my arms. Much to my surprise, she didn't fight me. Her head rested against my arm.

She looked like she had been broken again. She didn't have any visible injuries, but I could tell she was hurting. I shifted back to the house and laid her on the bed. "Get some rest, darling."
Before I could leave, she grabbed me by the arm of my coat.

"Please, stay." She slowly scooted over and I laid down next to her. She buried her head in my chest. Not making a sound, she just lay there, her arms wrapped around me. I hugged her head close to me.

"Nothing can hurt you now, you are safe." Her eyes looked like they were in a far away place. I didn't want to invade her mind, especially if she was reliving her trauma, so I started singing to take her mind off of it.\

La vie en rose

Quand il me prend dans ses bras
Qu'il me parle tout bas
Je vois la vie en rose
Il me dit des mots d'amour
Des mots de tous les jours
Et รงa m'fait quelque chose

Her eyes snapped out of their delirium and she looked up at me. She had a smile on that finally reached her eyes. My heart lept at it. I continued singing to ease her mind.

Il est entrรฉ dans mon cล“ur
Une part de bonheur
Dont je connais la cause

Her eyes drooped sleepily. Her head leaned against my chest.

C'est lui pour moi, moi pour lui dans la vie
Il me l'a dit, l'a jurรฉ, pour la vie
Et dรจs que je l'aperรงois
Alors je sens en moi
Mon cล“ur qui bat

She was completely asleep. The day had taken its toll on her. It felt good to have her body in my arms again; I was finally complete.

Her body slowly rose and fell with her breath. It broke my heart to see her mind like that. Those overlords had done so much damage to her, releasing her trauma. I yearned to destroy the one who first caused her that pain, but she had already done it herself.

She had fought her own demons, and she won. I looked at her sleeping figure, scared that she would not be the same after what Vox had done to her. But I knew she would return to normal, especially since I had killed them, once and for all.

My eyes started to get heavy while gazing at her sleeping face. I slightly chuckled at what was happening, but easily slipped into a comfortable sleep.

Y/N's POV

I woke up to Al's peaceful face. He had a small smile on.

I carefully slipped out of his arms and walked over to the bathroom. I stepped in and turned on the shower. My face looked absolutely awful. I had bags under my eyes and my hair was still in its braid, but it was stained red by my own blood.

I took off my ripped clothes and chucked them in the garbage. I got into the shower and let the water run down my body.

My body finally felt fine. I didn't feel limited by the sedative anymore, I was pretty sure I had full control over my powers again. My mind was still a little shaken up by what had happened. It had felt so much like when I was with Jared. It scared me.

After the shower, I got dressed in a lilac, off-the-shoulder sweater, and black leggings. I snuck out of the bedroom and into the hallway so I wouldn't wake Al up. Quietly going downstairs, I headed to the kitchen. I didn't feel like any food, so I made hot chocolate.

I went to sit down in Al's study. I savored the peace and quiet when I heard the door creak open. "Y/n? Is that you?" It was Nifty's sweet voice. I turned around the side of the chair and looked back at her.

"Hi, Nifty." I smiled at her and beckoned her over to me. Without hesitation, she jumped and threw her arms around my neck.

"I missed you," She said. I laughed, "I'm happy to see you too." I stood up from the chair.

"Do you want some hot chocolate too?" She nodded excitedly. I walked with her into the kitchen and started making her a cup.

Suddenly, I heard someone running down the hallway upstairs and pounding down the stairs.  Al swung around the doorway, his hair slightly mussed. "I-I thought you were gone again." He was breathing really hard.

I walked over to him and stood on my tiptoes and kissed his nose. "You don't have to worry about that anymore." He blushed slightly, and I walked back to making Nifty's cup.

My phone buzzed in my side pocket. Angel had texted me. "Turn on the TV. You're on the news."

I shook my head, "Al doesn't have a TV. I look it up on my phone." I found the 666 news website and scrolled through it. Surprisingly, most of the news was about me and Alastor. I handed the cup to Nifty, who was sitting at the counter. I held the phone out to Al.

"Looks like we keep giving the news something to talk about." He laughed and walked around the counter while I scrolled through their recent stories. He stood behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist.

I held the phone up to his face, "This gossip one says that we are getting married." I laughed and he chuckled into my shoulder. I continued scrolling but heard Al's voice in my mind.

"Are you alright my dear?"

I hummed a small note in response but felt that he was still hesitant. I turned around, surprising him a little. I placed my hands on his face and looked into his eyes. "I'm great. I relapsed for a little but you helped me out of it." I smiled at him as he placed his hands on my waist. I stood on my tiptoes and kissed right between his eyebrows. "Don't worry."

"Why do you tease me?" He laughed and I saw mischief fill his eyes. I could sense his thoughts in my mind, and they made me blush.

"Stop!" I giggled, "Nifty is here." His eyes snapped off of mine and up to Nifty. I turned around and found her grinning wildly. He let go of my waist and walked over to the counter. He started having a conversation with her, so I let them have some privacy.

I walked back to the study and grabbed my book off of the shelf. I plopped down into the armchair and opened it up, quickly skipping over the prophecy half. The book was mostly about what powers the Dark Angel would have. "This is the key to unlocking our power."

Ena's voice startled me. I hadn't heard her voice in such a long time. She was standing over my shoulder, looking over the book. "Oh hi, Ena!" I gave her a nervous smile but continued, "Where have you been? I haven't heard you in a while."

"We've done well in releasing our powers recently that I decided to stay in the back of our mind. A certain someone has also been keeping me busy." She had a big smile on her face. Suddenly Al's shadow peered out from behind Ena and placed a hand on her shoulder. Ena's violet grin matched his red one.

I laughed and looked up at both of them. "You and me both Ena." Al's shadow took her hand and twirled her around the room. Their forms were so close together that I could barely tell them apart. I giggled as Ena playfully swatted him away and appeared back next to me.

"This book has power in it. I can sense it." I looked back down at the book and flipped the page. My eyes froze as I scanned the page. I heard the door open and quickly turned around. Al's form appeared in the doorway.

"What's making you laugh y/n?"

Grateful for the distraction I looked to Ena and Al's shadow. "Your shadow danced with Ena around the room. It just made me happy." Al's face looked deep in thought for a moment and then he appeared in front of my chair.

"I just realized I've been incredibly rude and haven't asked you to dance with me yet." He held out his hand and the furniture in the room started moving closer to the outer walls and a radio in the corner flipped on. I laughed and pushed his hand away.

"I would love to Al, but unfortunately I haven't danced in a long time." I smiled and went to look back down at the book in my lap. Al's hand quickly snatched it and he poofed it away. "Hey, I was reading that!"

"Anyone can dance darling. You just need a good teacher. Fortunately, you have me." He chuckled and grabbed my hand. I almost stumbled over my own feet while standing up but he caught me.

I placed a hand on his shoulder, while one of his hands wrapped around my waist and the other held my right hand. We started slowly at first, just swaying. I could tell that the music was from Al's era, just based on the trumpets, and he was humming along to it. "Is this one of your favorites?" I asked him.

His grin grew wider, "One of them." Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Al's shadow and Ena dancing as well. The music started to speed up and sound brighter. Before I could get a good look at them, Al spun me out and the back into his chest. At this point, I had completely lost control, so Al was completely in control of my body. He then lowered me close to the ground.

His hand was grasping my back and my hands were both wrapped around his neck. Our noses softly brushed against each other. We both smiled at each other. I was in a very compromised position, and he was basically on top of me. His smile was devilish and I could basically feel his dirty thoughts brush against mine. I grabbed his bowtie and pulled him so our foreheads were touching.

I laughed at his startled look. "My turn Al." The song had changed to something a little darker sounding, but it was still a dance song. I disappeared from under his stance and appeared right behind him. I grabbed his coattails before he could fall over and spun him back into me.

"You were holding out on me, my dear." He chuckled and looked down at me.

I shrugged my shoulders and smiled, "I wanted you to have your fun." I moved us back and forth quickly to the beat of the song, remembering a dance class I had taken in High School. I looked down at my feet and started doing the beginning of the couples Charleston. He obviously knew the dance, because he quickly caught on.

I looked back up at him and saw a sparkle in his eyes. He took my hand and spun me 3 times. The song struck its last beat and he brought me back into his chest. Our chests were both heaving, but we just started laughing. I looked to the side and saw Al's shadow and Ena in the same position.

With my powers, I pulled the furniture back from the walls and into its original position. I flopped back onto the couch and Al sat right next to me. His hand reached into an invisible pocket in the air and handed the book back to me. "You certainly earned it back."

I chuckled and leaned against his shoulder. "It's been a long time since I've danced like that."

"Me too." It was silent for a moment and then I looked over to the shadows still slowly swaying.

"Does your shadow have a name, Al?" At the mention of his presence, Al's shadow looked up and had a frustrated look on his face. He left Ena's side and appeared in front of the two of his. He held his hands up and started gesturing wildly to Al. I looked over at him and Al had a slightly annoyed look on his face. "Wait, what is he saying?"

Al looked over to me and raised an eyebrow. "He is getting mad that I hadn't thought of one for him in all the years we have been together, but you did."

"I kinda side with your shadow on this one Al. It's almost been a hundred years and you haven't named him yet."

"You're siding with him?!" His tone sounded menacing but he had a teasing look on his face. "Fine," He rolled his eyes, "how about รฉnervant?"

I crossed my arms, "You can't just name him annoying. You realize I do understand French a little bit, right?"

"Then what would you name him?"

I thought for a moment and then looked up at him. "Ubel."

"Bless you, dear."

I laughed and shoved him playfully, "Oh stop. That's his name." Ubel looked at me, his smile returning to his face he reached out and shook my hand enthusiastically. Giggling I said, "I'm glad you like it."
