The Slytherin common room was alive with the sound of laughter and friendly banter as Y/N, Mattheo, Theo, Blaise, and Enzo lounged around. The fire crackled in the hearth, the low hum of their conversation mixing with the occasional clink of a glass. Y/N, leaning back on one of the couches with her legs tucked up beneath her, was casually tossing a dagger in the air and catching it, her eyes never leaving the blade.
The boys were, of course, engrossed in their usual banter. Enzo was telling a story about something that happened during their last trip to Hogsmeade, and Blaise was making fun of Theo's latest failed prank. But Theo, always the one to throw a challenge into the mix, glanced at Y/N with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"You know, Y/N," Theo started, leaning back and folding his arms across his chest, "I dare you to do ten pull-ups on Mattheo's doorframe pull-up bar."
Y/N paused mid-toss of the dagger, eyeing Theo for a second, then glanced at Mattheo, who was lounging nearby with an eyebrow raised.
"You really think I can't do ten?" she teased, her tone light but challenging.
Theo grinned. "I mean, I know you've got the whole 'tough girl' thing going on, but I'm not sure you've got the strength for that."
Mattheo, clearly intrigued by the idea, leaned forward. "I don't know, Y/N. I've never seen you do anything like that before."
Y/N gave him a knowing smile, then jumped to her feet. "Well, I guess you'll get to see it now."
Without another word, she strutted over to the doorframe where the pull-up bar hung, her movements graceful and confident. The boys gathered around, all of them watching intently as Y/N grabbed the bar. With a sharp inhale, she hoisted herself up, her muscles flexing as she did so.
One. Two. Three. She pulled herself up, each motion smooth and controlled. The boys blinked in surprise, but that wasn't even the most shocking part.
Without breaking a sweat, Y/N switched arms mid-pull-up and started with her other hand. She completed another ten pull-ups with the same effortless grace. She paused for a split second to switch back to both hands, then proceeded to do another thirty pull-ups, as if it was nothing.
Mattheo's jaw dropped. "Are you... seriously doing thirty pull-ups without breaking a sweat?"
Y/N flipped herself off the bar effortlessly, landing lightly on her feet and grinning like she'd just completed a simple task. She wiped her hands on her jeans and glanced at the boys, whose eyes were wide with shock.
"Yeah, well," she said, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear, "I work out because I refuse to be that bitch who can't hold a sword in a fantasy novel and gets the group killed."
The entire room was silent for a beat, and then the boys erupted with a mixture of admiration and disbelief.
"Waitβdid you just...?" Blaise shook his head, completely stunned. "You didn't even break a sweat. What the hell?"
"Who are you?" Enzo asked, his eyes wide. "How did you even do that?"
Theo, always one for sarcasm, couldn't help but laugh. "Well, I guess that's one way to show us up."
Mattheo, still clearly stunned, shook his head with a smile, walking over to Y/N and wrapping his arm around her waist. "I don't know whether to be impressed or terrified right now."
Y/N smirked up at him. "Both. It's okay, I know I'm a bit much."
Theo chuckled. "A bit? You're a bloody machine. I thought we were going to be the ones to break a sweat watching you, not the other way around."
Mattheo pulled Y/N closer, planting a soft kiss on her forehead. "Seriously, Y/N. I had no idea you were this strong. You could've told me you'd been going to the gym all this time."
Y/N shrugged, clearly enjoying the attention. "I like to keep a little mystery. Plus, I didn't want to scare you off with my impressive strength."
The boys all exchanged looks, clearly in awe of the girl standing in front of them. Mattheo, still grinning, shook his head. "Well, consider me officially scared and impressed. I'm never doubting you again, Y/N."
"Good," she said with a wink, resting her head against Mattheo's chest. "I'd never want to be the reason the group fails. You guys need someone who can pull their weight."
The boys laughed, all of them shaking their heads in amazement as they sat back down, clearly in awe of their friendβand in awe of the strength she'd kept hidden until now. The night continued, the playful teasing still going strong, but there was no doubt that Y/N had earned some serious respect in their eyes.
Mattheo pulled Y/N closer, smiling down at her. "You're incredible, you know that?"
Y/N grinned, feeling a sense of pride that she didn't often show. "I know. But you're lucky to have me, Riddle."
