It was one of those rare, quiet evenings in the Slytherin common room. The fire crackled softly in the hearth, casting a warm glow over the room as students huddled around, finishing up their homework or casually chatting. Y/N sat next to Mattheo, who was, as usual, attempting to ignore the chatter around him while he worked on a potion essay.
Y/N, however, was in a more relaxed mood, glancing around lazily before pulling out her chapstick from her bag. She twisted the tube up, applying a generous layer to her lips, the familiar strawberry scent filling the air. Her mind wandered, her thoughts drifting as she absentmindedly rubbed the chapstick across her lips, not noticing Mattheo watching her out of the corner of his eye.
He sighed softly, rubbing his lips together in frustration. "Ugh, my lips are so dry," he muttered, clearly irritated by the discomfort. He tried to smooth his lips over his teeth, but it didn't help.
Y/N glanced at him, raising an eyebrow. "What's wrong with you?" she asked, a teasing smile on her face.
"My lips, they're like sandpaper," Mattheo said, rubbing at his bottom lip with the heel of his hand. "I need something to fix them."
Y/N couldn't help but laugh a little. "I've got you covered," she said, pulling the chapstick back out of her pocket and holding it out to him. "Here, just use this."
Mattheo looked at the chapstick, then at her with a playful smirk. "You're always prepared, huh?"
Y/N just shrugged, handing it to him. "I always come through."
Mattheo reached for the chapstick, but just as his hand brushed hers, he did something unexpected. Instead of simply taking it, he leaned in closer to her, his face softening as he brushed his lips against hers in a gentle, unexpected kiss.
Y/N froze for a moment, caught off guard by the sudden closeness. But it didn't take long for her to relax into the kiss, her lips responding to his in a way that felt natural and comforting. She could feel the warmth of his body next to hers, the way his hand slid to the back of her neck, gently pulling her closer as if he couldn't get enough of her.
When they pulled apart, Mattheo's eyes sparkled with mischief, and he couldn't help but smile at her flushed face. "Well," he said, his voice hushed but teasing, "they're not dry anymore."
Y/N felt the heat rush to her cheeks, her lips still tingling from the kiss. She rolled her eyes but couldn't stop the small smile that tugged at her lips. "You're unbelievable," she muttered, swatting his arm playfully, but there was no real bite to it. She was enjoying the moment more than she wanted to admit.
From across the room, the boysβEnzo, Blaise, and Theoβstopped mid-conversation, all of them looking at the two of them with wide eyes. The teasing started almost immediately.
Enzo leaned back in his chair, grinning. "Oi! Didn't know chapstick could do that," he said, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
Blaise raised an eyebrow, his lips curving into an amused smirk. "Maybe we should all just start carrying chapstick around, huh?"
Theo chuckled, shaking his head. "You two are something else. Can't even borrow a bit of chapstick without it turning into a make-out session."
Y/N rolled her eyes but couldn't hide the smile creeping up on her face. Mattheo just shrugged nonchalantly, clearly pleased with himself. "What can I say? Problem solved."
Y/N leaned against the back of the couch, her gaze still lingering on him. "You're lucky I like you," she said with a grin.
Mattheo's smirk grew wider as he shifted closer to her, his hand brushing over hers as he whispered, "You know you love me."
Y/N sighed dramatically, playing along. "Yeah, yeah, I do," she admitted, but the words were softened by the warmth in her heart. "Now, can we focus on something other than your lips for once?"
The teasing continued, but it was clear that the moment between them was more than enough. The boys went back to their conversation, still laughing, but for Mattheo and Y/N, the brief kiss was the highlight of their evening, and they shared a private smile as the fire crackled in the background.
