Y/N sat curled up on the couch in Mattheo's private dorm, the flickering candlelight casting soft shadows across the room. She was lost in the pages of a book, the world around her fading as she sank deeper into the story. The plot was intense, and she couldn't help but savor the peace and quiet. These moments were rare, and she treasured themβjust her, the book, and the comforting silence.
But she knew it wouldn't last long.
The first sign that someone was intruding on her space was the faint shuffle of footsteps. It wasn't the heavy tread of Mattheo or Enzo. No, this was lighter, stealthierβTheo Nott, the absolute worst person to disturb her peace. He was always around, poking fun, teasing, and, most of the time, being an all-around nuisance.
Y/N didn't look up from her book. She knew better than to acknowledge his presence immediately, hoping he might take the hint and leave her be.
But Theo, being Theo, wasn't one to take hints.
"Hey, what's got you so hooked in this book?" Theo's voice rang out, dripping with his usual teasing tone. He leaned over the back of the couch, peering down at her with that all-too-familiar smirk plastered on his face.
Y/N kept her eyes glued to the page, trying to pretend he wasn't there. "Theo, not today," she muttered under her breath, her grip tightening on the book as if she could will him away by sheer force.
Theo, of course, wasn't one to back off easily. "Come on," he pushed, practically dangling over her shoulder now, "It's another one of those tragic romances, isn't it? Or maybe one of those overly dramatic stories where everyone dies and you cry for days?"
She could feel the annoyance creeping up her spine. He wasn't leaving. He was never going to leave if she didn't deal with it.
Y/N took a deep breath, forcing herself to stay calm. But as Theo's teasing voice grew louder, she could feel her patience running out. Not today. She just wanted a moment to herself.
With a sharp inhale, she slammed the book closed with enough force to rattle the air around her. The noise rang out, hard and deliberate, and she immediately felt Theo's presence falter. He flinched, his smile faltering for just a second, but he quickly recovered.
"You're being annoying," Y/N said, finally looking up at him, her gaze cold and sharp. "I've told you this before."
Theo grinned, unphased, leaning closer with a mock innocent expression. "Annoying? Me? I'm just trying to have a little fun. Surely you're not going to get mad over a little joke, are you?"
Y/N's jaw clenched. She could feel the anger building, a fire starting to stir in her chest. She had warned him. She had made it clear. But Theo wasn't listening. It was always the same with him.
"Bitch, run," Y/N growled, her voice low, a promise of the storm to come.
Theo froze for a split second, processing her words. Then, in typical Theo fashion, he laughed, the sound cutting through the tense air. "What are you going to do, Y/N? Punch me?"
That was all she needed. Without warning, Y/N surged to her feet, moving with a speed that caught Theo completely off guard. Before he could react, she shoved him back, sending him stumbling. His surprised gasp was cut off as she was on him in a flash, straddling him on the floor, pinning his arms down with ease. Her movements were swift, controlled. There was no hesitation. She was done playing.
Theo's eyes widened in shock, and he opened his mouth to protest, but Y/N didn't give him the chance. With a snarl, she slammed her fist into his jaw, her knuckles connecting with a sickening crack. The sound echoed in the room as Theo's head snapped to the side, his lips parting in an involuntary grunt of pain. His eyes widened further, clearly stunned by her sudden aggression. He didn't even have time to process it before Y/N followed up with another punchβthis one landing square on his right eye.
The impact was hard, fast, and unforgiving. Theo's body jerked, and his entire face seemed to register the shock of it. The punch was clean, and the bruise was already beginning to form under his skin. He groaned, trying to push her off, but Y/N wasn't giving him a chance to recover. Not now.
Another punch landedβthis one to his ribs. Theo gasped, the air knocked out of him, and his whole body curled in on itself from the force of the blow. Y/N didn't care. She was beyond anger now. Her instincts were driving her, and every punch felt satisfying, as if the frustration of countless intrusions was finally being released.
"You think you can mess with me, Theo?" she hissed, her voice filled with the pure venom of someone who had been pushed too far. "You think you can interrupt me and get away with it?"
Theo's struggling had slowed. The wind had been knocked out of him. His face was already bruising, the black eye forming rapidly. He winced, his body still shuddering with the pain of the hits. "You're crazy, Y/N," he muttered between labored breaths, barely able to meet her gaze.
Y/N didn't respond. Instead, she landed one last, decisive punchβright to his stomach. Theo let out a strangled noise, his body slumping beneath her as he struggled to breathe. He couldn't fight back anymore. He was done.
Finally, Y/N stood up, stepping off of him with a huff. She didn't even look down at Theo as he lay there, breathless and bruised. Instead, she casually returned to the couch, picking up her book as though nothing had happened.
Her knuckles were already bruising from the punches, but she didn't care. She'd dealt with it. She'd made her point. Theo wouldn't be bothering her again.
Moments later, the sound of footsteps echoed down the hall, and Mattheo, Blaise, and Enzo walked in. As soon as they entered, they froze in place. They looked at the scene before themβY/N calmly sitting back on the couch, her book in hand, while Theo Nott was sprawled on the floor, holding his face and groaning.
"What the hell happened here?" Mattheo's voice was filled with disbelief, his gaze shifting between Y/N and Theo, who was clutching his now-swelling eye.
Blaise raised an eyebrow, his lips curling into a smirk as he took in the sight. "Looks like Theo's been on the receiving end of Y/N's anger. I'm impressed."
Theo groaned, slowly pushing himself into a sitting position, his face a mess of bruises. "I'm never messing with her again," he muttered under his breath, still in shock.
Y/N didn't even glance at him. She just turned the page of her book as though she'd been peacefully reading the entire time. "Good choice," she replied nonchalantly.
Mattheo looked at her, a mix of admiration and amusement in his eyes. He stepped closer, his expression softening as he gently pulled her hand into his. "You're unbelievable," he said, his voice teasing yet full of awe. "I think you just gave Theo a black eye. How'd you even do that so fast?"
Y/N smirked, looking up at him. "He didn't take the hint. So I had to make him listen."
Mattheo chuckled, shaking his head. "You're crazy, but I love it."
Y/N looked down at her knuckles, wincing slightly at the pain. "I should probably take care of these."
Mattheo's expression softened, his fingers gently brushing over her knuckles. "I'll wrap them for you." He stood up and moved to the small cabinet in the corner of the room, pulling out some bandages. When he returned to her side, he carefully began wrapping her hands, his touch gentle, his gaze focused on her with an intensity that made Y/N's breath hitch.
"You know," Mattheo murmured as he finished, "You've got a pretty mean punch. Just don't go knocking out anyone else, alright?"
Y/N grinned up at him, leaning in for a kiss on his cheek. "I'll try," she teased, "but no promises."
Theo, still holding his bruised eye, could only mutter from the floor, "Next time, I'll just let you read in peace."
Blaise, Enzo, and Mattheo all exchanged amused glances as Y/N settled back on the couch, book in hand. They all knew better than to mess with her now.
Mattheo smiled, sitting next to her and wrapping an arm around her. "I'll make sure no one bothers you again."
Y/N smiled and snuggled into his side, finally at peace again, the tension in the room completely gone. "Good. Because next time, I might go even harder."
