You let out a brief sigh as you laid down on your couch. You just finished your assignment and now there was nothing to distract you from your thoughts.

You felt unsettled with everything that recently happened. So much has occurred in such little time. First, the incident with Aether and now, the Tsaritsa. You didn't know which thing to worry more about.

You haven't heard from Aether in awhile and the Tsaritsa is still in the hospital.

Feelings of contempt and despair overwhelmed you so much that you practically felt suffocated by it.

Then, a sudden loud ringing noise snapped you out of your thoughts. It was the doorbell.

You picked yourself up from the couch and walked to the door. Upon opening it, you saw someone that instantly brought a smile to your face. Indeed, it was your partner who was going through something similar to you.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" you asked. "I wanted to see how you were doing," Scaramouche answered with his usual emotionless face. You simply hummed in response and asked him to come inside.

The both of you sat down on the couch then Scaramouche handed something to you.

"Here." It was a plastic bag with a somewhat heavy container in it. "It's ice cream. Itto insisted on giving it to you. He said it makes you feel better or something."

In actuality, Scaramouche asked Itto for the ice cream but of course wouldn't ever admit to it.

"Tell him I said thanks," you said with a soft smile. "What about me? I brought it to you, I deserve a thanks too," he rolled his eyes.

You snickered at his pettiness. "Ah of course. Thank you so much," you said in a mocking tone.

"Careful, you don't want to tease me," his poker face swiftly switched to a smug one. 'How does he even change moods so fast.'

You gently patted his head. "I'll do what I want, moochie." You grinned, imitating what he would say.

"That means I can do what I want," he grabbed your hand, ceasing you from patting him, and his smirk grew wider.

"Oh." You saw that coming. But Scaramouche acting as he usually does helped you regain a sense of peace. It helped you escape all the events that occurred. But this peace was soon taken away with his sudden question.

"By the way, do you blame yourself for what happened?" he asked randomly, adding onto your already anxious state.

His amethyst hues stared into yours and his eyebrows were furrowed, displaying his seriousness. You averted your eyes away from him and looked to the floor. "Uh— no?"

"You don't seem so confident with that answer." Scaramouche raised a brow, clearly not believing your words. "I don't. Besides, it doesn't matter since it won't change anything. Any news on the Tsaritsa?"

"Don't change the topic." He pulled on your hand a bit, causing you to flinch. "Fine, I did blame myself."

"Did?"

"I don't anymore since it doesn't matter. I only care how the Tsaritsa is doing," you assured as you took a deep breath.

Then you heard Scaramouche discreetly sighing. "She'll be fine, I already told you."

You nodded with a slight but noticeable frown. Even if Scaramouche said she'd be fine, it still made you upset that she was in the hospital because of an injury that was originally meant for you.

Scaramouche saw your frown and placed your hand back on his head, which made you look at him, dumbfounded. "Huh?"

He then leaned in, placing a small peck upon your soft lips. And when he parted, you were uncertain what the sudden gesture was for but you smiled anyway.

"Hah," you softly chuckled and were about to get up till he grabbed your arm, pulling you back down.

"Don't blame yourself for such things," he spoke in a lower tone, "you're such an idiot sometimes."

You slightly exhaled and looked away from the worried man, "I'll try."

Scaramouche stared at you for a bit, before wrapping his arms around your waist and embracing you. This had caught you off guard, procuring a bewildered expression from you. "What're you doing?"

"Hugging you, what else dumbass."

You couldn't help but laugh again. "You're so cute when you're trying to be comforting," you teased him.

But this time, Scaramouche didn't say anything snarky back. This time, he only smiled.
