She leaned against the counter, breathing heavily as she tried to calm herself down. Y/N finally pushed her negative thoughts deep down to the point where she rarely thought of them, but they returned. Every time she had a positive thought about Vir, her brain turned it around, tearing into herself instead. She hated it.

The woman strived to be outgoing and to smile and laugh as much as possible, but it wasn't easy. Not when it wasn't real. How long would it take until the facade broke? She maintained it well in front of her parents, but next time, it likely wouldn't stick for long. She knew this. Their dad wasn't even going to bid them goodbye, had their mom not said anything to him.

-He didn't even say hi to me,- she thought somberly. "I guess I'm still a disappointment to them," she laughed dryly. Y/N glanced down as her sadness seeped out of her poker face. "I really hope they've changed."

She stood up straight and made her way back to the cutting board. Pulling the knife out, she finished chopping at the vegetables.

Slicing a packet of chicken breasts open, she cut the fat off and cleaned them one by one. Chicken breasts had been a favorite meal of hers since she was a child. She didn't get to eat it often, but she got it since Vir was here.

Y/N seasoned the chicken, putting them in the oven. She grabbed a pan, pouring a bit of olive oil in it and carefully dumping the vegetables in. She glanced to the side, eyeing a bottle of wine. She began to reach towards it, then hesitated.

-Should I really drink right now? I mean, I have my little sister with me. Then again, it'll be fine if I only have one drink, right?- she contemplated. She nodded, deciding what she was gonna do. "To hell with it. As long as I don't get drunk."

Snatching the bottle up, she poured herself a glass, the red liquid reminding her of blood. She gulped it down fast. The woman shook with euphoria as she impulsively poured another glass.

Holding the bottle and glass, Y/N turned around, planning to go to the table. She came to an instant halt.

In shock, she dropped what she was holding, everything shattering onto the floor as wine splashed onto the ground and cabinets, dirtying them.

The person she saw at the store, with the cloak on, was right in front of her. Rather than a human face, instead of that, it was a skull.

Y/N gasped. She wanted to jump back, but she was stuck in place. They stared at each other in quietness. The skull tilted its head sideways. A hand stuck out of the cloak, holding a stick that was connected to the skull.

The hand lowered the mask, showing a pale-skinned male with long, black hair. He smiled cheekily at her.

"Did I scare you?"
