"ʙᴀʙʏ, ʏᴏᴜ ꜱʜᴏᴜʟᴅ ᴄᴏᴍᴇ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴍᴇ

ɪ'ʟʟ ᴛᴀᴋᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ᴛᴏ ᴛʜᴇ ᴅᴀʀᴋ ꜱɪᴅᴇ."

ᴜɴʟɪᴋᴇ ᴘʟᴜᴛᴏ

The ringing sound of the Demon King's insane laugh surrounds me as I brace myself against the magical ebony wave but a pair of hands grab onto the back of my legs and then I am suddenly way above the wave and just looking down at it.

"Zel?" I whisper when I realise he has my body tossed over his shoulder and his hand is gripping onto the back of my leg to keep me levelled.

"Damn it," he growls when he lands on a raised cliff several feet away and puts me down gently. "Sorry, (Y/n)."

"For what?" I suck in a sharp breath when he suddenly leans in. "Um, hi?"

"Hey pretty," he says in a very low voice which sends chills up my spine. "Think you can stay here for a while for me?"

"Yeah," I say quietly as he presses a quick but firm kiss on my forehead. "Sure."

And with that, the youngest son of the Demon King jumps off the cliff and starts heading towards his father. I crawl closer to the edge of the cliff and peek over to get a better look at the two other Demons.

"You could never understand how the joy of loving someone and being loved in return can bring forth great strength you never knew you had," Zeldris says as he points at his father. "Because of (Y/n), I've been able to embrace even the dark parts of myself, parts of myself I was ashamed of when I was younger. And through that, she has made me so much stronger. You may believe that (Y/n) is my doom, but for me, (Y/n) is my guiding light who will never let me down."

"Zel," I whisper, his name disappearing with the breeze.

"You better not tell Meliodas I said that!" he blurts out as he turns around to say this to me.

"You are already well aware that I am no good at keeping secrets," I say and then wink at him which gets him blushing.

"Father," Zeldris says as he turns back to the Demon King, "right now, your pride is crumbling to pieces and your heart is weakened. The reason why is clear as day. You've been defeated at the hand of Meliodas before and even though you're the Demon King, you're obviously about to lose to him again!"

"You dare say the Demon King would lose twice?" the Demon King questions, voice rumbling. "How arrogant and presumptuous. You wouldn't know what's happening on the outside!"

Enraged, he brings down his weapon on his youngest son who easily evades it and instead says calmly, "I know that I'm right. Because I trust him. I trust my big brother!"

My hands clutched together in front of my chest are shaking terribly as I proudly smile at the confident Demon Prince who is giving it his all because he finally believes in his older brother.

"Now, Ominous Nebula!" Zeldris cries out as he stretches his hand out in front of him.

"Zeldris," his father growls. "You too—You would defy your own father?"

"I told you before," Zeldris yells over the immense power gathering around him and on the battlefield, "I'm going to beat you!"

A gasp escapes my lips when I see that Zeldris's sword has been enhanced with his magical move and the power around him is only increasing.

"Incredible," I breathe in awe as the Demon King slowly falls towards Zeldris.

Out of nowhere, black shadows begin to quickly tug me away and stop me from calling out to Zeldris.

"(Y/n)?"

My eyes snap open and my arms flail around pathetically as I try to sit up in someone's warm arms. When I finally calm down, I look up to see Elizabeth smiling down at me.

"Zel," I say with a croaky voice. "Where is he?"

Elizabeth turns her head in another direction and I look too to see the Demon King except the Ten Commandments are now pealing themselves away from Zeldris's body and judging by the cries coming from him, it must be quite painful.

"What happened to him?" Diane asks as she clutches onto her sacred treasure. "He's suddenly in a lot of pain."

"The Demon King is most likely beginning to separate from Zeldris," Merlin explains and then turns to me. "Good job, (Y/n)."

I wave my hand in dismissal. "Nothing would have stopped me from getting Zeldris back."

With one final pull, the Ten Commandments separate themselves from Zeldris's body.

"Zeldris!" my best friend yells as his younger brother begins to fall and the Demon King tries to reach out to him.

"Aw too bad," Ban says and he suddenly has Zeldris in his large hand, holding the Demon Prince by the pants. "Here you go, (Y/n)."

I let out a tiny squeak as both Elizabeth and I catch him and then bring him down gently to the ground. Sighing in relief, I let him lean his back against my chest and hold his head steady.

"Nice one, Ban!" Diane compliments her comrade.

"Thanks for that," Meliodas says to him as he fist bumps him.

"If you're really thankful, pay me in Aberdeen Ale," Ban says cheekily.

"Thank goodness," Elizabeth says beside me.

"Thank you, everyone," I whisper in gratitude and press my cheek against Zeldris's.

"What happened?" I hear Zeldris ask quietly.

"You did it, Zeldris," Meliodas answers him as he stands right in front of his little brother. "You beat him. You faced off against Father and won."

"Of course I did," Zeldris says with a scoff before turning around in my arms and stuffing his face in my chest.

"Well, well, well. You must be a real boobs kinda guy," Meliodas teases when he sees this. "You planted your face in her chest while in the mindscape too."

"Did he?" I ask, trying to remember this. Perhaps he did it when I caught him after he was freed from his bondages.

"Just shut up," Zeldris says, clearly flustered.

"Not that you are any better," I quip at my best friend. "Zeldris has only done it a few times while you have been doing it with Elizabeth for more than 3,000 years."

"He would have done the same if you guys were together for over 3,000 years," Meliodas retorts and then his jade eyes widen. "Wait, he's already done this a few times?"

"(Y/n)," Zeldris groans while I blush madly.

"Oops," I mutter and run my hand through his soft hair.

"How dare you!" the Demon King roars before the mass of the Ten Commandments shoots towards the dark skies.

"He's running away!" Diane cries out, pointing at the fleeing Demon King.

"How cowardly," Escanor murmurs.

"You will see," the Demon King snarls before the Commandments disperse everywhere.

"He exploded and scattered himself," Gowther notes.

"What's his plan?" Meliodas questions as we all look up. "Have any clue?"

"Could it be?" Merlin asks quietly.

The Commandments crash into the earth and begin to spread across the lands like spilt oil, destroying all nature it touches.

"The fallen Commandments, they're spreading and taking over other life forms," King comments as we look around.

"It's not just the life forms," Diane points out. "It's everything they touch."

"Ideas, Merlin?" Escanor asks the Mage. "What's he hoping to do now?"

"There's no mistaking it," Merlin says coolly. "Now that Meliodas and Zeldris have not only defeated and rejected him, he's planning on making the very land of Britannia his new vessel."

"You have got to be kidding me," I growl as I shield Zeldris from the furious winds that surround all of us.

"Easy now," a voice says near my ear and I turn slightly to see the Demon Queen wrapping her arms around Zeldris and I. "I've got the two of you."

"Me too," I hear my mother say on my other side as she holds onto Zeldris and I as well. "Brace yourselves, everyone!"

"Holy crap," I murmur when the lands have finally stopped shaking only to reveal the Demon King's newest form. "That has to be the ugliest thing I have ever seen in my long life."

"Tremble in fear," the Demon King roars. "Surrender to me. There is no greater sin than defying the Demon King. What's with those faces? Why? Why?"

"Because we know, you don't stand a chance in this battle, Father," Zeldris explains it to him.

I begin to smile widely when I see that the Seven Deadly Sins have stepped up and are all standing next to one another, just like a family.

"I'm fine," the Serpent's Sin of Envy says loudly. "Everyone's here with me so I'm not afraid!"

"Let's hurry," the Grizzly's Sin of Sloth says. "I have a wedding to plan after all of this."

"You asked her?" I squeal in delight. "That's wonderful!"

"(Y/n), my ears," Zeldris whines.

I tug at his ears. "Oh hush you. You already asked me so you have no say in this."

"You're just an old geezer that can't take a hint," the Goat's Sin of Lust says before pouting teasingly.

"Your entire body seems to be quite broken down," the Boar's Sin of Gluttony notes. "Is that travesty the best you could do with the makeshift substitute?"

"Top levels of impudence, Demon King," the Lion's Sin of Pride grunts out.

"What do you say we just take this guy down already?" the Fox's Sin of Greed asks.

"Alright!" the Dragon's Sin of Wrath yells to his fellow Sins. "Let's go!

"Meliodas," Elizabeth murmurs. "Everyone."

"We're going to bring you down with everything we've got," Meliodas promises his father. "Right here, right now!"

The moment he says this, all of the Sins charge forward but the Demon King raises his hands made from the earth.

"Kneel before me, you fools," the Demon King says as lightning rains down on us. "Or be crushed. Be gone. Scatter like the puny bugs you are. How dare you could think that you could defy a mountain!"

"Fall of Hell's Fire," my mother speaks and her magical fire bears down on the Demon King, giving the Seven Deadly Sins the time to fight against his move.

"You are mere pawns of the Holy War," the Demon King snaps. "Pawns should remember their place. Their sole purpose is to fight at the bidding of the Gods."

"I don't speak for everyone but I hate fighting," Diane says with a strained voice. "However, if it means defeating you then I will gladly fight!"

"You're serious about defeating a God?" the Demon King questions. "Such delusions are unforgivable."

"I'm willing to do whatever it takes to protect what's precious to me because I happen to be a greedy king," King states.

"Merlin!" Meliodas calls out to his comrade.

"Brace yourselves," Merlin says as she crosses her hands. "You'll be laying up on bed a week after this! Now, Power Limit Break!"

Her magical move breaks through the Demon King's attack and when we see them more clearly, Diane asks, "What's happening? I feel magic coursing through my entire body."

"Child of Belialuin," the Demon King spits out. "Are you not satisfied with deceiving the Gods already?"

"You have no right to speak on the path that I have chosen!" Merlin yells back.

I hold on tighter to Zeldris as everyone leaps into the air and attacks the ruler of the Demon race.

It will not be enough, my father murmurs.

What are you talking about? I question.

I have calculated their power level at the current moment and I'm afraid it is not enough to bring the Demon King down, my father explains. They need much more. Even if your mother, Queen Oriana and Zeldris helped, it would still not be enough.

But how? Merlin's spell should be—

The Demon King is consuming your own magic right now, bright star.

My eyes widen at this. What?

Because your last heart is weakening by the second, your magic is slowly slipping bit by bit out of your body and the Demon King is absorbing this without anyone noticing it.

No, I breathe. Not now. Not when we need to beat him.

Pulling Zeldris further up so he can actually sit, I kiss him gently on his head before handing him to his mother, standing up and walking a few steps forward.

"What are you doing, (Y/n)?" my mother asks worriedly.

As the wind whips through my hair, I allow my memories of everything that has happened to me the past few months to take over me.

You're as beautiful as the day I lost you.

(Y/n), I never wanted you to change. I just wanted you to believe in yourself.

We're going to need you in this war, (Y/n) of the Dark Shadows.

You will always fight back, but the bad thing about that is you don't know when to stop.

I think you're the only one who can save my little brother, (Y/n).

You're my best friend who just keeps on saving me.

You were there when we needed you the most, so let us now return the favour.

All I need from you are your own words, (Y/n).

You may believe that (Y/n) is my doom, but for me, (Y/n) is my guiding light who will never let me down.

Slowly, I turn my head to face my mother, Oriana and Zeldris, a sad smile taking over my lips, my only heart beating slower.

"(Y/n), get back here," Zeldris orders but I think it comes out weaker than he expected it to.

"You have always been there for me, all three of you," I say quietly as I twirl the ring around my finger. "And I will always be forever grateful for that."

"(Y/n), stop," Zeldris begs as he tries to stand up and both his mother and mine seem to be frozen in shock.

"Remember your promise, Zel," I say to him and calmly push back a strand of my hair behind my ear.

"(Y/n)!" he screams as he thrusts out his hand to grab me.

"I love you," I whisper.

Bright star, what you have done?

My heart stops.

Take...all of my magic...Meliodas, I manage to say as I crumble to the ground, my eyes falling shut.

I hear everyone screaming out my name but I ignore all the noise around me.

I need Zel. I need him so badly.

I just want to see his face one last time.

I feel my magic leaving my body and entering Meliodas's body easily.

Open your eyes.

I need to see Zel.

As my eyelids just manage to flutter open, I smile at my heartless Prince.

But what I see completely shocks me.

Zeldris has ripped out one of his own hearts and is now holding it in one hand while the other cradles my head.

Jade eyes overflowing with fondness, hope, and lust, the love of my life breathes, "You're not dying on me today, (Y/n) of the Dark Shadows."

And then he shoves the heart into my empty chest.
