KAI WAS HAVING an unusually good day. He had successfully turned the underground bunker into his own private space without Pops catching on.

Only Kurono and a few of his more trustworthy subordinates were in the loop. Not that all his subordinates deserved that trust—one of them had just tried to snitch to Pops earlier.

Kai had handled that swiftly. Using his quirk, he reduced the traitor to a mess of blood right in front of the remaining subordinates, leaving a vivid warning splattered across the bunker walls.

"Good, maybe they'll finally learn," he thought, glancing at their wide-eyed expressions. He was doing them a favor, really. They didn't seem to realize how draining it was for him to use his quirk, the toll it took each time. It wasn't like he wanted to spill blood—he just needed to make sure they understood.

His plan was slowly starting to come together—a world where he could live with you and Pops, free from the filth that surrounded them. It tortured him to see you so determined to become a hero, especially since your father was a prominent pro hero himself, only pushing your dreams further into the spotlight.

But he knew that if anything were to happen to your father, you would never forgive him. The thought of seeing that look of betrayal on your face was unbearable. So, he tried to accept yet another stranger in your life, despite the growing unease gnawing at him.

But something felt off to Kai. That nagging feeling prompted him to leverage his yakuza connections, instructing Kurono to dig up some dirt on your family. He needed to know who you were truly tied to, what secrets might lurk beneath the surface.

With your visit approaching, Kai glanced down at himself, grimacing at the filth that clung to his skin. He couldn't face you like this. Without wasting a moment, he sprinted to the shower, scrubbing his flesh until it gleamed, each pass of the washcloth a desperate attempt to cleanse not just his body but also the dark thoughts that loomed in his mind.

"KAIIII!" You ran up to him, arms wide and eyes gleaming. To you, he seemed healthier, happier—a good sign. Maybe if you kept pushing your influence on him, he might abandon the whole project altogether.

"[Name], you're here" He engulfed you in a hug, his heart swelling with warmth. But he couldn't shake the feeling of Aizawa watching him intently from a distance. Kai knew that if Aizawa found even the slightest hint of danger to his daughter, he'd tear through the place, obliterating everything in his path and jeopardizing Kai's carefully laid plans.

"Oh my marshmallows, I've got to catch you up on the lore of Six Nights at Fanny's!" you exclaimed, bouncing with excitement. Kai didn't fully understand your fascination with this game, but he loved how animated you became when talking about it. So, he simply smiled and let you chatter away, nodding at the right moments, his gaze softening whenever you got especially excited.

Suddenly, a figure burst into the room—his father, out of breath, face flushed with urgency. "She's gone into labor," he managed to pant, his wide eyes darting between Kai and the surrounding area. No further explanation was needed; everyone knew who he was referring to.

Your attention immediately shifted to his father, your concern evident as you bombarded him with questions about what they needed and how you could help. Meanwhile, you didn't notice the shift in Kai's expression—the brief flash of disgust that twisted his features. He clenched his fists behind his back, his teeth grinding together as he watched you so eagerly assist.

That foolish daughter—always finding ways to pull your attention away from him. Even now, when she wasn't around, she had managed to steal you away, dragging you into a situation that left Kai seething. But he swallowed down his irritation, pasting a tight smile onto his face as he watched you chatter with Aizawa. He promised himself that someday he'd pay her back for this intrusion.

The three of you hurried to the hospital, but Kai held back, refusing to set foot in the building. The idea of being near the filth and chaos of a hospital, let alone the messiness of childbirth, made his skin crawl. Instead, he used Pops' absence to his advantage.

Meanwhile, outside the hospital room, you clung to Aizawa's arm, your eyes wide with unease. "Chichi, I... I don't think I'm ready to see childbirth yet," you mumbled, glancing toward the door where the muffled sounds of a woman in labor echoed. You tried to keep a brave face, but the anxiety was clear in your eyes.

Aizawa softened, pulling you into a comforting side hug. "And you don't have to, [Name]," he assured you, ruffling your hair gently. He knew this moment was too intense for you, and he had no intention of pushing you past your comfort zone. The two of you stood together in the hallway, waiting as the cries of a newborn rang out from the room, a sound that seemed to fill the entire hospital wing.

Back at the house, Kai allowed himself a small, dark smile, feeling victorious in his solitude. He would use this time wisely, securing a few more pieces of his plan while no one was watching. And one day soon, he'd have all your attention, without any distractions pulling you away.

At the hospital, the atmosphere was entirely different. Pops opened the door to reveal his daughter cradling a tiny bundle, her cheeks stained with tears as she gazed lovingly at the miniature version of herself. The baby's tufts of pale blue hair and vibrant red eyes caught your attention immediately, and you found yourself stepping closer, almost holding your breath.

"[Name], come look at your younger sister," she called to you softly from her bed, her voice filled with a tired but genuine warmth. You hesitated at the threshold, feeling like you were stepping into a moment that wasn't quite yours.

But her welcoming smile melted away any worries, and soon you were standing beside the bed, peering down at the newborn swaddled in a blanket. The baby, sensing your presence, seemed to brighten, her tiny lips curving in what looked like the hint of a laugh.

"She's beautiful," you whispered, your voice barely louder than the beeping monitors around you. Aizawa and Pops were chatting nearby, their voices low, but you were fully focused on the baby.

Her mother glanced at Pops, then back at you, a tender look in her eyes. "Me and dad were thinking," she began slowly, "if you would like to name her?"

Your breath hitched, the weight of the request settling heavily on your small shoulders. You glanced up, meeting her expectant gaze, then looked back down at the baby, whose little fingers twitched against the blanket.

"I can't believe you're trusting a barely eleven-year-old with this," you mumbled, twiddling your fingers nervously. But then, as you thought about the perfect name, a warm feeling bubbled up inside you. "The name Eri suits her, doesn't it?"

A soft silence filled the room for a moment, before Eri's mother's eyes brightened, as if your thoughts were perfectly in sync with hers. Even the baby let out a tiny yawn, almost as if she approved of the choice too.

"It's perfect," she whispered, her voice breaking with emotion as she cradled Eri closer. You couldn't help but smile, feeling a sense of pride swell in your chest. Aizawa looked over from his conversation, catching your smile, and his own softened. For that moment, everything felt right—simple and warm, like a family that was just beginning to grow.

Even with the joy that filled the hospital room, a heavy sense of dread weighed on your chest. You knew what the future held, and it terrified you. Kai must never find out about Eri's quirk, you thought desperately. If events unfolded the same way they had in your memories, Eri's quirk would activate when she accidentally killed her father.

It would be a turning point, sending her mother into a spiral of depression and ultimately leaving Eri in the care of her grandfather. But this time, you were determined to change the outcome, to find a way to prevent that tragedy.

You couldn't let Kai's manipulative nature seize upon such a fragile situation. He'd use it, twist it to his advantage, and Eri would never have a chance at a normal life.

As you pondered over how to change the course of events, you turned your attention back to Eri's mother. "Where's your husband?" you asked, hoping to gather more information about the man who might unknowingly set everything in motion.

She sighed softly, cradling Eri closer to her chest. "He's out of the country for work, but he promised to take the earliest flight back here when he heard the news," she explained, her voice gentle and affectionate as she glanced down at the little bundle in her arms. Eri's tiny fingers reached out, grasping at the blanket, her eyes filled with curiosity and innocence.

You offered a reassuring smile and rested a hand on her shoulder. "If there's anything you need, just let me or Chichi know, okay? We'll be right here, helping out however we can."

Her eyes softened, and she looked up at you with a grateful expression. "You're so mature for your age, [Name]. Thank you for being so kind. It means the world to us," she said, offering you the warmest smile.

As you watched Eri coo softly in her mother's arms, you made a silent vow to yourself. I'll protect you, Eri. I'll keep you safe, no matter what it takes.

Meanwhile, back at the house, Kai continued his preparations, blissfully unaware of the weight of your thoughts and the new life that had just entered the world.

"BOSS!" Kurono's voice echoed through the underground chamber, his breath coming in ragged gasps as if he had sprinted all the way there. He ripped off his mask, trying to catch his breath.

"What is it, Kurono?" Kai asked, his attention still focused on the complex machinery scattered across his desk.

"I think you need to sit down to hear this." Kurono waved a file labeled AZ27 in front of him.

Kai slipped off his gloves, grabbing a fresh pair as he retreated into his office. He took a seat near his desk, curious yet cautious.

"The kid wasn't born as Aizawa [Name]; she was born as someone else's daughter," Kurono explained, finally sinking into a chair across from Kai. "According to my research, [Name] activated her quirk early, resulting in her mother drowning from the inside out."

Kai's brow furrowed as he processed the gravity of the information.

"Effectively, the Hero Commission took notice of this case and requested the immediate isolation of the child. However, someone opposed them, arguing that if she were placed with a guardian who could cancel her quirk, she would be fine."

Kurono's voice took on a serious tone as he continued. "As a result, she was placed under the care of Aizawa Shota. The Hero Commission believes there's more power within her than they've ever seen before. This is why Aizawa is required to submit a report every month, detailing everything about her."

Kai leaned forward, his expression darkening. "So Aizawa is not just a guardian; he's a crucial player in the Commission's game."

Kurono nodded, sensing the shift in the atmosphere. "Exactly. They're monitoring her closely, looking for any signs of instability."

Kai's mind raced with possibilities. If the Hero Commission was so interested in you, then there had to be a way to exploit that. "This could work to our advantage," he mused aloud, a sinister smile creeping across his lips. "If we're strategic, we can draw [Name] closer to us and away from Aizawa's watchful eyes."

"What do you want me to do?" Kurono asked, his tone cautious but attentive.

"Keep monitoring the situation. If Aizawa slips up, if there's any sign of weakness in how he's handling her, I want to know about it immediately. We need to gather intel on what the Commission is planning, too. Their interest in her quirk may be more dangerous than we realize."

As Kurono nodded and left to carry out his orders, Kai turned back to his desk, a dark thrill coursing through him. He would protect you, mold you, and ensure that you remained loyal to him. No matter the cost, he wouldn't let the Hero Commission control your fate.

For now, he'd play the role of the supportive figure, waiting for the right moment to reveal his true intentions. Because when the time came, he intended for you to have NO ONE ELSE TO TURN TO BUT HIM.
