Anyone's POV
It has been over a week since Subaru was born. And Christa was certain that Subaru had her wrapped around his little chubby fingers. He was her little angel.

Cordelia had coached Christa on how to look after Subaru properly by giving her tips. Karlheinz had spent a day or two with Christa, then left again to do his duties as vampire king. Cordelia couldn't say that she was surprised, it was him after all.

Cordelia was in the garden playing with the triplets. She had grown very fond of it since she came into the world.

"Mama!" Laito happily shouted

"Yes, Laito?" Cordelia asked

"Who is your favourite?" Laito said

"Favourite?" Cordelia's cocked a brow

"Out of us." Kanato said

"It's obviously, me" Ayato called with a smirk

"No, it's not!" Kanato and Laito called

The three triplets started to argue. Cordelia couldn't help herself and laughed. The triplets looked towards, demanding an answer.

"I could never have a favourite. I love all of you equally and nothing could ever change that." Cordelia said thoughtfully

The triplets were satisfied with the answer. Reiji was sitting at a table, a few meters away from the small group. Beatrix was helping Shu study and she didn't want Reiji to be completely by himself, so she asked Cordelia to keep an eye on him.

"Reiji" Cordelia called while glancing at him. He put his book down and looked at her in a curious way.

"Yes, Cordelia-sama?"

"First of all, Reiji. You can drop the sama. And secondly, would you like to play?" Cordelia asked him.

Reiji looked conflicted but decide to play with the triplets. He stood up and walked over to them.

"What do you want to play?" Reiji asked the triplets.

"Let's play..." Kanato said

"Hide and seek!" Ayato continued

Reiji nodded

"I'll be it!" Laito called with a smile

Kanato and Ayato dragged Reiji to his with them. To one of the rose bushes.

"10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1! Here I come!" Laito shouted

Timeskip
The children had been playing for almost an hour. Agatha, had brought snacks for them. The children ran towards the table to get some snacks.

"Ayato, you have to try this!" Kanato exclaimed while stuffing sweets into his mouth.

"Ok!" Ayato grabbed some sweets

"Agatha, makes the best sweets!" Laito smiled

Reiji nodded in agreement.

Christa had went into the garden with little Subaru. Her eyes light up when she seen her onee-sama.

"Onee-sama"

"Hello, Christa. How is Subaru? Is he settle if well?" Asked Cordelia

"He occasionally  cries but other than that he is a good boy." Christa told while holding Subaru.

"Could....could I hold him?"

Christa looked at Cordelia with a smile and passed him to Cordelia. She held him gently. Subaru gave her a gummy smile. This made both women smile at the cute face.

Cordelia's smile fell. She sensed that something was wrong, so she passed Subaru back to Christa.

"Children, please come here!" Commanded Cordelia. The children did as they were told and went to her.

"Is something wrong?" Christa looked concerned

"Can you take everyone inside. I'll be there in a minute or two." Cordelia told her. She would be lying if she said that she wasn't terrified. She didn't know what to expect.

"And get help." She whispered into Christa's ear

"Ok. Children come with me." Christa called, she waited for them to follow her, trying to act as calm as possible.

"Why?" Ayato asked

"Because mommy needs to do something. And your good boys that listen to mommy."

The children looked conflicted but went anyway. Reiji knew something was up, so once he was inside, he was going straight to his mother.

Once Christa and the children left. Cordelia sighed in relief but it was short lived. A man walked out into the open with a dagger.

"Who are you?" Cordelia asked trying to start a conversation. It would give her more time and help to arrive. She wasn't a fighter and barely knew any magic. That's not to say that she was totally defenceless.

"I don't need to tell you my name. Your going to die anyway." The man said

"Why kill me?""

"Because your the vampire kings wife. Well, one of them." He gave a nasty smite and pointed his dagger at her.

"Who do you work for?"

"God, can't you shut up and be a good bitch and die already!" The man ran at her with his dagger. Cordelia moves out of the way of his attack.

'I don't think, I'll be able to dodge forever. I need to attack him back. Ice!, I'll try to use my ice magic.'

"You're not a very good assassin." Cordelia commented with sweat lacing her brow. Ice formed in her hands as she got ready to attack him.

The man dodged her first attack. He ran up to her and aimed his dagger at her again. Cordelia manage to dodge most of the attack but he grazed her arm.

'This stings but it's nothing compared to child birth.' Thought Cordelia

Cordelia managed to freeze the dagger, making it useless for him to use. So the man resorted to using his fists. He grabbed her a threw her to the ground. She gasped in pain. He was going to strangle her but she froze him in place.

Cordelia wobbled as she stood up. Beatrix had come outside with other people to deal with the assassin. Cordelia could feel the drain on her magic.

"Cordelia, are you alright?" Beatrix called in concern.

"I'm fine...." Cordelia fainted

"CORDELIA!"

Karlheinz POV
I thought that today would be peaceful but I was wrong. Someone had sent an assassin to kill Cordelia. I had my suspicions, of course.

He is lucky that Cordelia had killed him. Otherwise death would have been gift to him after I had felt with him. I could always travel back.... But I can't help but be amused at him being frozen solid. Cordelia truly is an ice queen who's frozen heart needs melting.

I am currently with Cordelia in her room. I had a maid send the children to bed. I brushed a fallen hair out of Cordelia's face. She looked so defenceless in this state. I wonder when she will wake up.

"How carless of you Cordelia you could have died. And then I would have to go back in time." I gave her a kiss on the lips. It seems that she has change in taste as well.

I better go and find out who sent the assassin and punish them~
