3rd POV:
The sound of Rosie's alarm clock rang through her room, pulling her out of a deep sleep. With a groan, she reached over, smacking the snooze button before stretching and sitting up. Sunlight poured through the windows, casting golden glow over her pink and girly bedroom. Today wasn't just any school day - tonight, she and the girls were going to the drive-in.
A small smile played on her lips as she slipped out of bed and padded over to her vanity. She brushed her straight hair, letting it fall perfectly past her shoulders, then applied her usual soft pink makeup. After choosing a fitted white sweater and high-waisted jeans, she slid on her heeled boots and grabbed her bag before heading downstairs.
The kitchen smelled like coffee and toast, and her dad, Oscar, sat at the table reading the newspaper while her mom, Victoria, sipped from her mug. Her little sister, Lila, sat coloring with a bowl of cereal in front of her.
"Morning, sweetie," Victoria greeted.
"Morning," Rosie said, stealing, a piece of toast from the plate on the counter.
"You're up early," Oscar noted, folding his newspaper. "Something special happening today?"
Rosie shrugged. "Just going to the drive-in with Ali, Barbara and Susan after school."
Lila looked up, pouting. "I wanna go to the movies."
Rosie smiled and ruffled her sister's hair. "Maybe next time, kiddo."
Victoria raised an eyebrow. "Drive-in, huh? You girls be careful, and don't stay out too late."
"I know, I know," Rosie said, rolling her eyes playfully as she grabbed her car keys. "I'll be home before midnight."
Oscar smirked. "Sounds like something a teenager would say before staying out past midnight."
Rosie laughed. "I'll be fine. Love you, guys!"
She walked out the door and slid into her car, turning the key in the ignition. The radio blasted music the second she started the engine, filling the air with upbeat '80s tune. Smirking, she turned it up louder and sped off toward school.
----
The halls of West Valley High were buzzing with the usual morning chaos - students chatting, lockers slamming, and the occasional teacher yelling at someone to get to class. Rosie met up with Ali, Barbara and Susan by their lockers, the four of them immediately launching into conversation.
"I can't wait for tonight!" Barbara said, adjusting her headband. "I love the drive-in."
"Me too!" Susan agreed. "And let's be real, half the fun is cheeking out all the cute guys who show up."
Ali rolled her eyes with a smirk. "You mean like Daniel?"
Rosie raised an eyebrow at Ali's flustered expression. "Ohh, she totally has a thing for him."
Ali scoffed. "Shut up."
Before anyone could say anything else, the sound of heavy footsteps made them look up. A familiar group of guys in leather jackets strutted down the hall - the Cobra Kai gang.
Johnny, Bobby, Dutch, Tommy and Jimmy walked through the hallway as if they owned the place, their presence immediately drawing attention. Johnny's gaze flickered toward Rosie for a split second before looking away.
Barbara leaned toward Rosie. "They keep staring at you."
Rosie smirked, pretending not to notice.
The Cobras walked past, but not without Johnny shooting Rosie a knowing smirk.
----
After school, Rosie rushed home, excited for the night ahead. She swapped her school outfit for something casual but cute - a fitted top, denim jacket, and her favourite bell-bottom jeans. After a touch-up of make up and a spritz of perfume, she grabbed her purse and headed downstairs.
Her mom called from the kitchen, "Rosie, don't stay out too late!"
"I won't!" she shouted back as she stepped outside.
Ali's car pulled up, honking loudly. Barbara and Susan were already in the backseat, and Rosie slid into the passenger seat with a grin.
"Drive in, here we come," Ali said, stepping on the gas.
----
The drive-in was alive with energy - classic cars lined up in neat row, teens lounging outside with popcorn and sodas, and the giant screen flickering in the evening light. Rosie and the girls found a spot and parked, then made their way toward the concession stand.
"This is perfect," Barbara said, scanning the crowd.
Ali was about to reply when the loud roar of motorcycles interrupted her.
Rosie turned, immediately recognizing the group of bikes pulling into the lot. Johnny and the Cobras had arrived.
"Of course," Susan sighed. "They show up everywhere."
Johnny climbed off his bike, running a hand through his hair before his gaze locked onto Rosie. A slow smirk crept onto his face as he walked over.
"Well, well," Johnny said, stopping in front of them. "Didn't expect to see you here."
Rosie crossed her arms. "And yet, here you are."
Johnny chuckled, tilting his head slightly. "Guess it's my lucky night."
Before Rosie could respond, Ali grabbed her arm. "Come on, let's get snacks before the movie starts."
As they walked away, Rosie could still feel Johnny's eyes on her.
Tonight was definitely going to be interesting.
----
The night was crisp, filled with chatter of excited teens, the smell of buttered popcorn, and distant hum of the movie playing on the massive outdoor screen. Rosie carried her soda and box of candy while walking back with Ali, Barbara, and Susan toward their spot.
"I can't believe they're here," Barbara muttered, glancing over her shoulder at the Cobra Kai boys lounging near their motorcycles.
Ali sighed, shaking her head. "Of course, they are. Johnny practically thinks he owns this town."
Susan leaned in with teasing grin. "Or maybe he just came to see Rosie."
Rosie raised an eyebrow. "Oh, please."
Barbara smirked. "Oh, come on. He's been looking at you since the second he got there."
Ali rolled her eyes. "Yeah, well that's Johnny. He always needs a new challenge."
Rosie just shook her head, brushing it off, but deep down, she couldn't deny she had noticed his eyes on her more than once.
Just as they settled into their seats, footsteps approached, and a familiar voice broke through the night air.
"Ladies," Johnny greeted smoothly, hands tucked into the pockets of his leather jacket.
The Cobras stood behind him, each smirking in their own way.
Ali groaned. "Seriously? You guys don't have anywhere else to be?
Johnny ignored her, his gaze locked onto Rosie. "Enjoying the movie?"
Rosie casually sipped her soda. "Haven't really watched it yet."
Johnny smirked. "I can think of something more entertaining."
Barbara and Susan exchanged knowing glances, barely hiding their amusement.
Bobby leaned toward Dutch and muttered, "He's laying thick tonight."
Dutch chuckled. "Yeah, it's kinda painful to watch."
Rosie tilted her head slightly. "You always this charming, Lawrence?"
Johnny grinned. "Only when I see something I like."
Ali rolled her eyes. "Alright, Johnny, go flirt somewhere else."
But Johnny wasn't listening. His smirk lingered as he watched Rosie, waiting for her reaction.
She simply shook her head with a small laugh and turned back to the screen. "You're something else, Lawrence."
Tommy chuckled. "This one's got bite."
Johnny just smirked. "Yeah...I like that."
After Johnny's comment, a beat of silence hung between them, tension thick in the air.
Rosie gave him a knowing glance. "Don't get any ideas."
Johnny leaned in just slightly, his voice lower. "Too late."
Before Rosie could fire back, Dutch clapped Johnny on the back. "Come on, man, let's get back to the motorcycles. We've got better things to do than crash their girls' night."
Johnny held Rosie's gaze for a moment longer before smirking and stepping back. "See you around, Monroe."
The Cobras turned and made their way back toward their motorcycles, laughing among themselves. Rosie exhaled, shaking her head as she turned back to her friends.
Barbara nudged her. "He's totally into you."
Rosie scoffed. "He's totally full of himself."
Ali snorted. "Yeah, that too."
The rest of the night continued with the girls watching the movie, though Rosie couln't help but notice every time Johnny's gaze flickered in her direction from across the lot.
As the credits rolled and the girls began gathering their things, Ali stretched her arms with a sigh. "Alright, let's get out of here before we run into them again."
Rosie smiled but glanced back once, catching Johnny leaning against his bike, arms crossed, watching her with that same infuriating smirk.
She rolled her eyes but couldn't deny the small rush in her chest as she turned away.
