A/N: Some of this duel is taken from one of the episodes (episode 67) and I am trying to change it up. I'm leaving the parts where Yusei gets up to the point where he uses Tuner's Explosion (except when Debris Dragon attacks). I'm not going to add the part where Debris Dragon attacks, I'll just put that he ends his turn. I would also like to add that this final battle will be in 3 parts because it is a long battle. Trust me. If I put the final battle in a later chapter, it wouldn't make sense. Anyway, enjoy the chapter! Comment on what part made you feel shocked the most.
You stared at the piece of paper, lost for words. How? Trudge waves his hand, "Earth to Y/N!" You didn't hear him, lost in your own world. You jumped when you felt a hand on your shoulder. Akiza asked with concern, "Are you okay, Y/N?" You apologize, "I-I'm sorry." You feel Akiza's hand pull away, and you felt like something terrible was about to occur. Akiza looked at you and said, "We've lost her." Your heart felt troubled at the new revelation, words stuck in your throat. What were you supposed to say?
You had been standing in the same spot for almost thirty minutes, blank look stuck in your (e/c) eyes. You feel the piece of paper being wrenched out of your hands, meeting a pair of worried grey eyes. "Crow." Crow tells you, "Y/N I know it's something shocking but you can't bear this weight alone." You heard a voice reply, "Crow's right, you can't just take them on alone." You turned around to see Jack crossing his arms as he spoke. Jack looks at you and adds, "I get the feeling that you're not telling us something." What were you supposed to tell them? You sigh and admit, "There is one thing." You go on to explain the legend of the seven protectors to the gang. You just hoped that they would believe you.
You sat at a table, looking at the so called "kill list" once more. You say to yourself, "They must have some kind of other motive. They can't just have something like this without having some kind of backup plan if it doesn't work." You had not heard from your spirit friends for a long time, which began to worry you. Everyone had gone out for a walk (except for Crow, who had stayed behind), leaving you to stare into space once more. You heard the chair beside you creak, which meant that Crow was now sitting beside you. You quietly utter, "This doesn't make any sense, Crow." Crow gave you a puzzled look, "What d'you mean?" You answer, "They can't just have something like this without having some kind of plan. It just seems too suspicious. It's like they want us to find them so they can have us out of their skin once and for all." Crow replies, "You're reading into this too much. I'm sure there's some kind of explanation that will clear up this mess." If only it was that simple, you thought.
What was going to happen now? That was the first question you thought of. That was the only thing on your mind.
You suddenly heard something crash, causing you to fall out of your chair and on to the floor. "Every time", you mumble with annoyance. You get up off the floor to see a black book lying there. You pick it up, placing it on the table. You suddenly heard Mina's voice, "There's my planner!" At least it's not on the ground. You then ask, "Hey Mina?" She replies, "Yes, Y/N?" You ask, "Where is everyone?" Mina answers, "Akiza, Leo and Luna are at school at the moment. Yusei, Crow and Jack are back at the warehouse. Why?" You shake your head, "No reason. I was wondering if we could talk." Mina looked concerned. You go on to tell Mina about the carvings and the connection to the Crimson Dragon. Mina's eyes widened, "That sounds dangerous." You sigh, "It's something that's affecting everyone. You can't exactly stop it from happening, unless you completely keep your mind blank."
Leo and Luna listened to what their teacher was saying. Leo fiddled with his jacket as he listened. The Vice Chancellor came in with a very annoyed expression on his face. He said to the students, "You peons are terrible duellists! You're monsters are weak and useless! I'm going to expel your entire class!" The door abruptly opened, revealing an equally annoyed Akiza. The Vice Chancellor exclaims, "Here comes a real duellist!" Akiza spoke, "You can't expel them just because of that! They're still learning how to duel. It seems a bit unfair."
A man in a suit walked towards a warehouse, looking for two particular people. He just hoped that he would find them.
Yusei tightened the bolts to Jack's duel runner. He was doing a bit of maintenance on it while he tested the engine. The door suddenly opened, causing Yusei to look up from his spot. A man in a suit appeared, "I'm looking for Yusei Fudo and Y/N L/N. Do you know where I can find them?" Yusei answers, "You found one. What can I do for you?" The man looked around, "No Y/N?" A voice spoke from behind, "That would be me." The man jumped when he saw you. Yusei looked at you and said, "Hey Y/N." You wave shyly. Yusei spoke, "What do you need help with?" The man spoke once more, "I need both of you to help me." You looked at each other, "Why both of us? Wouldn't Yusei be a better choice?" The man shook his head, "This problem requires both of your expertise." You look at Yusei, who replied, "Lead the way."
One of the students argued, "You can't expel us because of duelling skills!" The other students agreed with anger. The door opened once more. "Yusei, Y/N." Yusei spoke, "I heard there was some kind of problem." You then add, "Something about needing both of our expertise." Luna said to you, "Y/N the Vice Chancellor wants to expel our entire class because of our duelling skills!" You look at another man standing at a podium, "That's not a good enough reason to expel them." The Vice Chancellor objects, "Their cards are weak and useless! The monsters they use are pathetic!" Yusei became angry, "You don't need powerful cards to win a duel!" You exclaim, "It doesn't matter about what type of monster you use either! To be a good duellist, you have to duel with confidence." Yusei then said, "How about we duel then? If we win, then you leave their class alone." The Vice Chancellor exclaims, "If I win, then they're expelled!" You whisper, "Yusei are you sure about this?" He nods, "Let's teach him a valuable lesson." You agree, "I'm with you! No one expels our friends over something trivial!"
You were sitting on a couch, metres away from Yusei and the children. What have we gotten ourselves into?, you thought. One of the kids came up to you and gave you a card. The young girl said, "This is one of my favourite monsters. I hope it helps." You pat her head, "Thank you. I'll be sure to use it to my advantage." Yusei said, "Let's go, Y/N." You nod.
You were both led to a duelling area, where the Vice Chancellor laughed at you once more, "I can take you both out with just one turn." You reply, "We'll show you that not all monsters need to be powerful to win a duel!" You all said, "Duel!" The Vice Chancellor (who you learned was named Rudolph Heitmann) said, "I'm starting first!" You stayed alert, feeling that Heitmann might pull something. You saw a smirk appear on his face. He said, "I summon Ancient Gear Statue, then I activate Machine Duplication to special summon two more Ancient Gear Statues. I tribute the three Statues to special summon three Ancient Gear Golems! You two are lucky for now because I end my turn!" You think to yourself, "Those Golems can cause a lot of damage to a monster in defence position. I have to take some risks though." You said, "Yusei, you start us off." Yusei asks, "You sure?" You reply, "Yes I'm sure." Yusei says, "Alright Heitmann, it's my move. So get ready!" Heitmann rolled his eyes. Yusei continued, "I summon Flamvell Guard in defense mode. I place two face downs and end my turn." Heitmann just snickers, "That's the best you can do?" You wanted to punch him so badly. He was starting to get on your nerves a bit. "Y/N.", Yusei murmurs quietly. You reply, "I'm fine. He's just a bit annoying." You add, "Alright Heitmann. It's my turn!" You look at the cards in your hand, trying to choose which monster to summon. You heard someone call out, "You can do it!" You heard Leo chime in, "Patty's right, Y/N! Prove him wrong!" You smile to yourself. You exhale before speaking, "First, I'm going to summon Amores of Prophecy in Attack mode. With her special ability, I can reveal one Spellbook spell card and then special summon a Level 4 or below Spellcaster from my hand." Luna could see how much you were struggling. You add, "Now I reveal Spellbook of Secrets and now I summon Crystal Seer! With Spellbook of Secrets, I can add a Spellbook spell to my hand. Also with Crystal Seer's ability, I pick two cards from the top of my deck. I add one card to my hand and place the other at the bottom of my deck." You add Damage Mage and Spellbook Organization to your hand. You then say, "I place two cards face down and end my turn." Heitmann replies, "I hope you're both ready to lose!" Yusei then says, "I activate Tuner's Barrier! It prevents my Guard from being destroyed by battle or card effects until the end of the next turn." Heitmann replies, "That's not going to help you! I'm getting my Ancient Gear Golems to attack Yusei directly!" The Golems attack making Yusei's LP go to 1000. Heitmann then adds, "I'm activating Level Thunder, to inflict damage equal to the combined levels of the monsters I control times 100." Yusei replied, "I'm discarding Hanewata to make the damage I take go to zero." It was Yusei's turn and you were worried.
Yusei looked confident. He then spoke, "First I activate Cards of Consonance, by discarding Debris Dragon and sending it to my graveyard, I can draw two cards. I normal summon Eccentric Boy and tune it with the Turret Warrior in my hand. I Synchro Summon, Stardust Dragon! Now I activate Variety Comes Out. By returning Stardust Dragon to my extra deck, I can special summon Eccentric Boy, Hanewata and Debris Dragon, as long as their combined levels are equal to Stardust Dragon. Now I'm going to activate Tuner's Explosion! I tribute Eccentric Boy, Hanewata and Flamvell Guard to inflict 1000 points of damage for each monster destroyed." Heitmann's LP go to 1000. Yusei adds, "I end my turn." You ask, "Hey Yusei. I know that we're supposed to show that weaker monsters are powerful against stronger ones but, is it okay if I show him what three weak monsters can produce?" Yusei nods, "Go for it." You say, "Heitmann you're going down!" You draw a card, smiling to yourself. Akiza and Luna look at each other. Dexter asks, "Why is she smiling?" Luna replies, "Let's just say that he's in for a surprise." You add, "I'm going to summon Frequency Magician but it won't be there for long because my Spellcasters are getting a tune up! I Synchro Summon, the Tempest Magician!" You discard one card and a spell counter appears. You explain, "By discarding one card, and removing a spell counter, I can inflict 500 points of direct damage to you!" Heitmann's LP goes to 500. You add, "Hey Tempest Magician, let's teach him a lesson! End this duel with Tempest Strike!" Heitmann's LP goes to zero. You say, "Your doubt in power caused your loss, Heitmann." You quietly leave the arena. Yusei looked around, "Where's Y/N? She deserves equal credit too." Luna replies, "I think I saw her with Patty."
You sit and look at the card Patty had given you. Frequency Magician. Patty exclaims, "That was amazing! You and Yusei were totally synchronized." You blush, "Yusei did more than I did." "I wouldn't say that." You saw who it was, "Yusei." Patty said, "Thank you for helping us, Yusei!" You gave Patty her card, "Thank you, Patty. Your card helped us a lot." Luna adds, "Thanks to Y/N and Yusei, our class won't be expelled!" Every one of Luna and Leo's classmates cheered. You gave them a gentle smile, "I'm glad that we could help." Yusei said, "I'm happy that you don't believe that your cards are worthless. Your cards may be weak but they're powerful too." You add, "Different monsters have different abilities, you just have to use them at the right time." Yusei nods in agreement, "Took the words right out of me." You tease, "I'm sure that you probably would've said something better, Mr. Shooting Star of Satellite." Yusei groans, "Don't even start." Everybody laughed at your little banter.
You and Yusei decide to sit outside. You look around, taking in a peaceful surrounding. Yusei sat on a bench, motioning you to sit beside him. Yusei offered, "You can lie your head on my lap if you want." You ask, "Are you sure?" Yusei pushes a strand of hair behind your ear, "It's only fair since you let me rest my head on your shoulder." You think about it, "I'll take you up on your offer." You lay your head on Yusei's lap, seeing his eyes turn to a soft baby blue. Yusei said to you, "You know I love you, right?" You express in a joking manner, "I don't know, do you?" Yusei laughs, "Ha ha. Very funny." You reply, "I try." That made Yusei laugh even more. You quietly say, "I didn't think that I would ever meet someone like you, Yusei. I mean, it's like that explosion unintentionally made us meet." Yusei replied, "I guess so. I was thinking more about when you were trying to fix my runner." You tease him, "So does the runner have a bigger place in your heart?" He shakes his head in amusement, "You have a bigger place in my heart." Your heart fluttered at his reply. He kissed your forehead and gave you a sweet smile.
School had ended and everyone was leaving. Luna points out, "Isn't that Yusei and Y/N?" Leo replies, "Yeah it is!" Akiza adds, "Let's ask them if they want to meet up with everyone else." Luna adds, "I've never seen Yusei look so relaxed." Akiza pipes in, "Maybe it's her influence." They all walked towards where you and Yusei were.
You hummed quietly, and felt Yusei's hand twirl small pieces of your hair. Yusei suddenly said, "Oh hey everyone." You look up to see Akiza, Leo and Luna standing in front of you. You ask, "Done for the day?" Akiza replies, "Yes. Actually we were wondering if you wanted to meet up with everyone?" You look at Yusei, who shrugs, "Why not? Besides we still need to think of a strategy for those spirits." You all walk to the warehouse, thinking of nothing but the final battle.
Yusei pushes the door open, the sound of creaking evident in the space. Jack and Crow look up for a moment, before going back to what they were doing. You comment, "You look like you're enjoying yourselves." Jack answers with sarcasm, "Oh yeah. We're having a blast." You add, "Blunt as always, Jack." Akiza asks, "Is it alright if we start talking about the strategy now?" Yusei nods, "I think that would be best." You unfold the map from before, trying to unravel your thoughts in the process. You begin, "Alright, here's what we know so far: the shadow spirits have been targeting innocent people and their appearance are extremely unpredictable. To add, when they control the body of a person, they control the mind and not the entire body." Akiza adds, "The other thing is that instead of possessing a duellist, they possess a regular person like a citizen of the city." Crow speaks up, "They always appear when that weird light does. So all we have to do is catch them when that light appears!" Luna objected, "We don't know when that light will appear next." Yusei spoke next, "It seems that when the light appears, our marks glow like there's no tomorrow." Yusei was right, it seemed that when the light did appear, all of your marks would glow with some kind of ferocity. It was like the marks were trying to warn you about something. How are you supposed to find that luminesce though?
You were pacing back and forth, trying to think of where that light might appear next. You didn't realize you were thinking your thoughts out loud until you heard Crow speak up, "Uh Y/N? You do realize you're thinking your thoughts out loud, right?" You turned bright red, causing the orange haired boy to laugh in hysteria. You stuttered, "S-Shut up bird boy!" That made him go silent. It was Jack's turn to laugh now, "Seems like Crow is no match for Y/N and her comebacks." Yusei came between the both of you, "Come on Crow, cut it out. You too, Y/N." You mumble, "Crow started it."
You continued to pace back and forth, trying to sort your thoughts. You then realized something, "Hey Yusei. I think I have an idea but you have to trust me." Yusei asked, "What's the idea?" You grab the map, catching everyone's attention. "Remember when that light appeared the first time?" Jack inquired, "What about it?" You point out, "The first time it appeared, it was the middle of the afternoon. To add, everyone was outside, which made it perfect for the light." Akiza looked confused, "Why?" You answer, "The source of the light's power is the anger or sorrow of one's spirit. Since at that time, there were tons of people there, it was the first thing it went after." You continue, "If we can somehow make that light appear in front of us, then we can set up some kind of trap that will give the shadow spirits no choice but to appear." Yusei objected, "Isn't that a bit risky though, Y/N? What if one of us gets absorbed by it?" You shake your head, "I don't mean that we should use ourselves as bait, I mean that we should set up some kind of decoy that would lure them here." Jack asks, "What if it doesn't work?" You reply, "I don't know. I'm still trying to come up with a backup plan." You just hoped that they wouldn't appear so soon.
You honestly felt like giving up at that point. How were you going to come up with a backup plan of this plan doesn't work?
You had gone back home so you could clear your head. You felt frustrated, "How are we going to defeat them if we don't know where they're going to appear?" Maybe Yusei was right, maybe the plan was too risky. Then again, Yusei was usually right about things like this. You try to think of a way to lure them, but come up at a blank spot. You look at your copy of the map, looking at the spots that were circled. Those were the spots that the shadow army had attacked before. Maybe something cold would help.
You go to the fridge and grab (Y/FD), hoping that it would help clear your head. You sigh begrudgingly. You take a sip of your drink, suddenly hearing an outcry. You put your drink away and run outside to investigate.
You then think of what Mina had shown all of you. Was it time? No, it couldn't be. That list didn't just have seven names on it, that list had about maybe over two hundred names on it. Your mark glowed for a moment, then stopped after two minutes. What was that?
Everyone heard something outside. Yusei said, "Something's wrong." Jack replies, "It's probably your imagination." Yusei shakes his head, "I don't think so." Suddenly, everyone's marks began to glow. Luna called out, "Jack, Yusei! Come quick!" The two boys ran outside at the sound of Luna's voice. The bright light appeared for about two minutes before it disappeared. Crow asked, "What happened?" Akiza panicked, "What about Y/N? What if she saw the same thing? She could be in danger!" Leo then went pale and said, "Guys, I think there's something that's coming our way." Yusei yells, "Take cover!" Everybody ran inside, watching as something crashed into the ground. Luna peeked out, her eyes wandering towards the object that crashed.
You then heard a crash, you saw where it had landed and became worried about the others. You grab your duel runner and race to the scene. You looked around, trying to find your friends. You call out, "Yusei! Akiza! Anyone! If you can hear me, say something!" You heard someone call back, "Y/N! It's Jack!" Thank goodness. You
