Hey guys! How are you all doing? I hope everything's okay in your lives and you're happy
Anyway, so I was scrolling through some comments and I saw one that said that learning songs in ASL/PSE or whatever you're learning it, will not help you learn Sign Language. Since we're all here to learn something new, I would like to give out my point of view in this matter.
What are the advantages of learning songs in Sign Language?
Believe it or not, you can learn more signs faster. How? Because you have to look for the words of a song—unless someone else translated the song for you—therefore you have to repeat it constantly to remember it and follow along with the rhythm of the music. Something else that you can get from learning songs in sign language, is that you can learn how to show more emotion. What do I mean with this? When you hear the performer singing the words you can know what the song is about (ex. Sad, romantic, dark, etc) and by what the person is singing, you can base your facial expressions from it. So, that way, the person that can't hear you, at least know what the song could be about. That also helps when you have to form sentences. Instead of having a monotone face, you will learn how to loosen up and you will end up talking like if you were having a normal conversation with someone who can listen.
I hope this actually cleared up some of your confusions. I am indeed very grateful for all the support this book has been getting. . . I mean, 9.2k reads now (WOW). I am so happy that there are people here in the Wattpad community with a fascination with the language and are eager to learn. Of course, if you have a different opinion and you think that this book is not helping nor doing any good to you, I understand. You can tell me what you think and I will try to explain to you something I've done and why did I do it that way. Seriously, it is not a waste of time to learn songs in Sign Language, you should totally give it a chance.
Thank you for taking your time to read this!
