Her sleep was fitful that night. Tossing and turning, Rumer was exceptionally on edge. She never slept badly, unless something she cared about was in danger, and the only thing she cared about close to her was - "Hey Sweetness, it's the big day. Come on, wake up."

Rumer smiled at Jerome, but her stomach sunk like a rock. She definitely wouldn't be able to enjoy this date today. Or the show.

Rumer snapped out of her daydream when she heard Jim shouting from the other side of the door, "Mr. Cicero? It's GCPD, open up." Jerome took his stab to the eye and ran. Jim started to hit the door open but Rumer didn't want Jerome's dad to die with out her playing a part, so she ran towards Jerome, shooting a bullet into the old man's chest as she did.

Jerome laughed quietly, kissing Rumer passionately as he waited on Jim and Harvey to weaken up. "I'm gonna head down to the car while you do this. I don't want Jim seeing me with you yet." Rumer headed off before stopping Jerome, "And Kid, don't kill him." She told him, trying to eliminate as many odds as she could of people wanting to hurt or kill Jerome in the near future.

Rumer sat in the passenger seat, thinking of the horrible things Jerome had to go through. She just wished she had the time to slowly torture his pathetic excuse for a father. Rumer was just starting to fall into a daze-induced terror - her mind blanking and her limbs gaining a mind of their own - when Jerome got into the car, "Now it's time for our  magic opening."

With a large grin on his face, Jerome sped all of the way to their living quarters.

"You two need to get ready." Barbara called to them as soon as they walked in. Jerome ran to his room and got dressed quickly so he could see what all Rumer was doing to get ready.

By the time he got dressed up and made it to her room, Rumer's hair was wet and curly from a shower and she had a towel wrapped over her underclothes. "Whatcha wearin, Sweetness?" Jerome asked in a sing-song voice as he opened her door. Taking in her appearance, Jerome walked in, closing the door behind him, "You know, I think I like this look." He said, putting his hands on her hips and kissing her.

"You okay, Kid?" Rumer asked, releasing herself from the kiss. Jerome scrunched up his eyebrows, a curious smile on his face, as if though he didn't know. "Why do you ask that? Am I too hot?" He retorted slyly. Rumer rolled her eyes and began putting on her little black dress. "It's just... you've been lovin' on me a lot today. Just wanted to know you aren't sick."

Jerome sat on her bed and watched her apply eyeliner and lipstick, both black, "I'm just excited! Can't a man get excited for a clown show anymore?" Rumer laughed, "No. Now come on, we should be leaving soon." She said as she left the room, Jerome right behind her, smiling like a maniac.

Rumer sat in the crowd and watched Jerome work his magic. With every second that passed she wanted to rip Barbara's face off, prancing around on stage in a showgirl dress with Jerome having to watch the little witch's every move. Ugh.

After the first trick with Bruce, Rumer had stopped paying attention, talking to Penguin about the plan. She didn't care much for the terrorizing and such. At least not at the time. She did enjoy Barbara hitting Theo with the mallet, but all of the enjoyment stopped when she saw Theo get to his feet, something in his hands.

All too quickly. It happened all too quickly. One moment, Rumer was glaring at Barbara, the next Theo stabbed Jerome in the neck, and caught everyone by surprise.

Rumer was instantly heart broken.

And absolutely livid.

Pulling a gun from her clutch, Rumer shot at Theo, a bullet securing itself in his arm, but the others didn't make their mark at all due to her blurry eyes.

"Jerome!!" She cried out as she dashed up onto the stage, Barbara long gone.

A quick jab was dished to Theo's throat, knocking him out before Rumer fell to the floor, hands scrambling to check for a pulse, "C'mon kid, don't you dare leave me. Jerome. Jerome, you better get up and stab him back!" Rumer cried, shaking his heavy body, trying to force him to open his eyes and smile at her. To tell her it was all a joke and tease her about how worried she was.

But despite what Rumer wanted, Jerome just stared into space, his charming smile frozen on his pale, dead face. A strangled and broken cry left her throat, burning on its way out.

The entire room stood still for a moment, almost forgetting that Jerome was a psycho murderer that had just terrorized them moments ago. All they saw was a grief stricken 18 year old, drowning in the death of a loved one, her loved one.

Rumer ruffled Jerome's hair and kissed his face, the world coming into itself again, "I love you Jerome. This will not be left alone." She said as Jim's hand gripped her arm and yanked her up, "You're coming to the precinct with me for questioning, Miss Mills." He said as he gently steered her from Jerome's body.

"How did you know Jerome Valeska?" Jim asked Rumer loudly. "He was my boyfriend." She answered placidly, her heart a bit sour, the world bitter to the taste.

"You two were in Arkham together?"

"Yes sir, that is, until Mr. Galavan broke us out."

Jim ignored Rumer dropping Theo's name and continued with the questioning. "Did he discuss his targets or missions with you?"

"Eh, when Theo gave the word we'd make sure everyone was on the same page." She said, accentuating Theo's name. Jim closed his eyes for a moment, getting irritated, "I get that Mr. Galavan killed your boyfriend and now you want to get him in trouble, but Rumer, you need to stop lying to-"

Rumer cut him off, standing abruptly and slapping the table, "I'm NOT lying! I may be a murderer, Mr. Gordon. Some may even say a psychotic murderer. But I'm not a liar. I didn't lie to you about the Maniax snatching me up, and I didn't lie to you about Barbara. Tell me Jim, what sense would it make to lie to you now? I have NOTHING TO LOSE! NO REASON TO LIE!"

Jim narrowed his eyes at her, "Really? Because the first time we met, you told me that your father was dead, but the last time you came up here, you said he was waiting for you. A dead father sounds like a pretty blatant lie." This made the girl deflate slightly with exasperation, "Yes! Blatant, Jim. You're a detective! I was hoping you'd catch on to that and follow me instead of Barbara, but you aren't as great as I had hoped." Rumer laughed dryly, "And Anastasia isn't my first name, but it is my middle name, so I didn't lie about that either." Feeling that Jim wasn't understanding her, Rumer leaned across the table so she was closer to him, "My reason for freedom, for life, literally just died before my eyes. I have no reason to keep quiet and Galavan has no leverage on me."

Rumer sat back down in her seat, "And it has to strike you a bit odd how perfectly timed he was. His lines and pointed looks at the camera. I meant it when I said you were Gotham's last hope, Mr. Gordon. I just hope you use your mind and not your heart for this."

Rumer stood and made her way towards the door to get escorted to the cell she was going to be in. She turned around before she opened the door, "We didn't. That's how the last thing I loved got stabbed to death. Think about it." With that she opened the door and let the cop outside escort her to the large general holding cell.

Around twelve-thirty, the precinct began to fill with smoke, knocking out the cops. Rumer took the special material of her dress and held it over her mouth and nose as she watched the officers drop like flies.

After the smoke cleared, Penguin and Butch walked through the doors, Butch rushing forward to unlock the cell. "Are we sticking with the plan?" Penguin asked Rumer as they got into the car. Rumer shook her head, "The plan has changed. Stop at your place, then take me to Theo's apartment." She said as they pulled up to Oswald's. "Why?" Penguin asked, curious as to why she'd go there if the very people that lived there had just murdered Jerome.

Rumer stepped out of the car, "He killed Jerome. I'm gonna hit him where it hurts. I'm paying Tabitha a visit." Rumer said as she closed the door and went inside to get changed and grab her stuff, ready to kill everything dear to Theo, even if she died doing so.

Hey you guys! JEROME IS NOT GONE! I REPEAT, JEROME IS COMING BACK!  Now that I have said that, this is a pretty long chapter. I'd love if you'd give me feedback or ideas.
I was even thinking of making a book of imagines for Jerome, so that all the ideas I have for him that don't fit the plot or idea of this story aren't just floating around in my brain. So if you'd even have requests for that, I'd take them.
Thank you sooo much for reading!
