The articles were swarming me and the media was buzzing. My phone had been blowing up ever since the news came out: famous news outlets, magazines, and talk show hosts were asking me to do interviews, but I refused.
I am just so done with all of it. Just when I thought I found someone, he cheats on me weeks after I leave. It just feels as though I have no one in my life.
"You aren't even a little upset?" asked Lacey as we sat atop of my bed.
In all honesty, I'm not at all. More embarrassed because the whole Cato thing is going through the media. Angry too, of course. Upset? Not so much.
"No. I'm just mad... I thought Cato was so much better than this."
Lacey gave me an understanding nod. "You have every right to be," she commented. "But have you seen how many followers he has lost? Last I checked, he had lost three million."
Then again, it was easy to be thankful during this time considering the media and fans are siding with me.
Though, it's all a little crazy because prior to moving to LA, I had probably 2,000 followers on social media. I kept a private life for the most part, despite my publicity relationship with Cato from a few years ago and also just with who my dad is. However, LA changed that entirely. As crazy as it sounds, I'm nearing the mark of hitting 10 million followers...
Just a little less than a year ago, I lived a normal life, free from the fame and drama.
Boy, do I miss it.
Truly, it's crazy what some time in LA can do to someone's name.
"You will hit 10 million in no time," Lacey said with a soft laugh. "It seems every time he loses a million, you gain a million."
"That should humble him at least," I replied.
While I was with Cato, I could not help but notice how full of himself he was. Usually, I am not a petty person, but in this case...
"But aside from that, I am not looking forward to school. At all," I said in attempts to talk about something other than my messy breakup.
"I'm so glad you're coming back. I know you don't want to, but after you left last year, I was so lonely."
I was happy about returning to school with Lacey, but everyone else? Not so much. Especially considering most of my friends graduated last year. I made the other majority throughout last year, and Ryder... so I have not talked to anyone other than just about Lacey.
"Me too, that's it though."
"You aren't even excited to see Ryder?" she teased.
Just the mention of his name irked me. Ryder, Ryder, Ryder. I can't believe I will be going back to school with him in a few weeks.
"If my parents would let me go on independent study, I would."
"Me too. I'm dreading having to see Braxton," she murmured.
Lacey and Braxton never got back together last year. They are still in love. Everyone knows it, but for whatever reason, they won't get back together. When Lacey says she is dreading seeing him, it means the exact opposite.
For me, on the other hand, I have not talked to Ryder since the breakup. Honestly, I'm not even sure if he knows I moved back, let alone, remembers who I am. He has been so obsessed (at least from what I have been told and seen from social media) with Ella, my clone according to Lacey.
Needless to say, it will be an interesting start to the school year, but at least I will have Lacey by my side the whole time.

The weeks leading up to school seemed to go so fast, unfortunately. Just two weeks before the first day, and a little less than a week from the first football game, I found myself running some errands for my mom.
As I walked through the grocery story, I was careful to avoid grabbing any attention and I thought I was doing well. But keep in mind, I thought.
When rounding the corner into the cereal aisle, I bumped right into someone, but not just someone... Nancy and Tessa James.
Before I could react, a huge smile had appeared on Nancy's face. "Ainsley! I didn't know you were back home!" she exclaimed.
My face heated up because I have not seen Nancy since the night Ryder and I ended things. I was hoping I would not have to see her for a longer amount of time, too. Of course, she is really sweet, but this is my ex's mom...
"Yeah! LA wasn't working out so my dad let me come home... how have you been?"
"Great, actually! Are you playing volleyball this year? I heard you got injured a while back."
I silently cursed myself for not reacting sooner because this was so awkward. "I tore my ACL while playing soccer, so no. I want to make sure I'm all healed up for soccer season."
"Shame. You were so amazing! The team will be hurting without you!"
"They do have Ella, though," Tessa said, cutting in.
I raised my eyebrows. Ella.
Nancy shot Tessa a little look, but I do not think she thought I noticed.
"Have you met Ella yet?" asked Nancy with a small smile on her face.
"No, I have heard a lot about her though. She seems so sweet."
Nancy smiled kindly. "She is. We all really like her. Funny enough, she is planning on joining the football staff, as the manager."
"Oh! That's awesome. I have been hoping to have more girls on the sidelines!"
"Yeah, I think she is just doing it for Ryder, but she's a doll. Anyways, we need to run, but it sounds like I will see you next Friday," said Nancy after looking at her watch.
Before I could say much more, she was walking off. I barely managed to say 'you too' before she was around the corner of the aisle.
