" Let's go upstairs, just the two of us. I have something to say ", Elly said.

Gael gulped and followed her.

He didn't know what to do after he heard what she said. Even when he started walking, the aching sensation of his head and heart were still felt.

Creak.

The door opened up and both of them went in. There was nothing in there, just a few chairs and a table, with no people staying.

Elly turned around and found Gael focused on her face. He was waiting for Elly to say something.

" To be honest, my curse is not me being unlucky. It is me that is cursed ".

" I had this when I was a just a kid. No matter how much I tried not to use it, I kept failing ", she continued.

" Then there's that moment when me and my family went on vacation. We were in the airplane when I accidentally stared at my mom for a minute ".

" In an instant, I saw an image similar to yours. Pure black that's so vast, no matter how I looked beyond its darkness. At that moment, the airplane came crashing down and killed my whole family ".

" I didn't know it ended up like that and regretted it ".

" That's when I realized, that those people with black death, cannot be prevented. And.. ..you have that, Gael ".

" You can see someone's death? "

" Yes ", she admitted.

" And what you saw in my death was pure black? "

Elly nodded.

" So you have something similar to mine ", Gael spoke.

" Yes. And you Gael, you said you saw my future and past, what is it? " Elly asked.

" You don't have those. Normally, my thoughts would completely shut off when someone doesn't a past nor a future, but yours did not. Instead, only nothingless was seen ", Gael explained.

I see. So I'm the nothingless in this thoughts.

. . . . . . . .

" You saw them, didn't you? Those loansharks ", Elly asked, changing the topic.

" Yes. You said in the past that you was being chased by the debt you didn't committed ".

" How did you handle it? ", she asked, starting to worry.

She saw his bruises on his forearms, head and scratches on his cheeks. Elly felt guilty for what she had brought to him.

I just made things worse...

Gael, upon seeing her expression, immediately hides his bruises, not wanting her to react again.

" I gave them the money ", Gael said, breaking the silence.

" In exchange, they let go of you ", he added.

Elly couldn't believe what Gael had to go through just to let her be free. She stared blankly above to stop her tears from falling.

She felt sorry. She felt guilt in her very core. She felt.. ...ridiculously pathetic towards herself. Him, going through such lengths without giving a damn thought of his life. Elly couldn't accept it.

And so, she kept quiet, trying her best not to tear up.

Gael saw that and couldn't bring himself to ease her. They kept quiet for a moment, still coping each other's thoughts.

Time passed by and Gael, standing in the corner began sweating.

Elly saw that and immediately closed her distance to him. She touched his forehead and checked his pulse. After doing so, Elly panicked.

He's hot as hell! And his pulse are gradually increasing!

Elly then guide Gael back to his quarter and called the nurses. The nurses immediately responded and went inside to check him. The Gael she was with earlier was now lying unconscious.

Perhaps, still panicking, Elly did not go inside and just went home to grab his things.

She picked all necessary stuffs in his room and saw a letter beneath the pillow.

From grandma

She picked up the letter, unread and went back to the hospital.

She went inside his room and prepared his stuffs while he's still sleeping.

She looked at him one more time before grabbing a pen and a paper. She then began writing something.

After writing, she closed the paper and went outside to use the restroom.

Meanwhile, Gael who just woke up, suddenly felt thirsty. He grabbed the waterbottle beside him and saw a paper and a pen near the table.

Out of curiosity, Gael stood up and read it. The contents of the paper surprised him. It was not something to be seen.

Grab.

" What are you. ...doing? "

. . . . . . . . . .

When Elly got back, the first thing he saw was Gael, reading something. She felt goosebumps as she walked in to look at what Gael is reading.

When she saw him reading the paper, she grabbed it immediately and frighteningly stare at him.

" What are you. ...doing? ", Elly uttered.
" I just want to read it ", he said.
" But then, you suddenly grabbed it so I couldn't read what's inside ", he added.

He shrugged his shoulder to show that he wasn't able to read anything.

Gael lay back as his vision kept wavering. He saw Elly nervously cleaning her stuff in the table.

Days passed by, and Gael's condition worsen.

Cough! Cough!

His cough became raspy and his vision always kept blurrying.

Elly, on the other hand, was the one who stood up as his guardian. She's the one who always feed him, help him walk to the restroom, and help him regain his strength.

Two weeks before his death, Gael approached Elly.

It was something Elly did not expect.

" Let's stare at the sky tonight ".

Elly could not decipher the way Gael uttered that word. However, one thing is for sure.

' He's planning something '.
