There's no doubt. She doesn't have a future or past, otherwise my ability won't black out like that.
If it's like that. ... how come she doesn't have it? She is a human being, that's for sure. How weird.
"-...--"
"..-?
Sir Gael? ", the boy asked.
The boy seems worried about his tutor zoning out.
My thoughts were occupied by that incident that I couldn't even hear my student's questions.
" Oh. .. Yes? ", I stuttered.
" I was wondering how this bent like that and also this ".
" Just use this formula to get this first, then simplify all this to get the answer " I answered.
" I'll send some worksheets for you to study, Venn ".
The boy's name is Venniel, Dan Venniel. He's one of my students that I had been tutoring for 2 years or such.
" Yes, Sir! ", he excitedly added.
His mother doesn't have time to help so he asked for tutoring sessions. I don't despise them despite using money to gain knowledge. In fact, I have been envious of them, having enough money to do all of this.
I looked at the time and began packing up my things. I did nothing but space out.
" Wait for your mom, Venn. I'll go visit my grandma first "
" Okay, teach! "
Such energetic child. Who wouldn't be glad to have him as her son?
I got out and exhaustion enveloped my body. Probably because of the overfatigue I accumulated, I exhausted my body.
Beep.
After dropping down, I straightly head into the house without any care of who will be there.
I opened the door and saw something unusual.
The girl, where is she? I instinctively searched for her, went outside and finally, found her.
She's on the rooftop, I see. Why did you panic like that, Gael?
Uh, what's her name again? Ah, Elly, right.
" Hey you! What are you doing here? ", I said, walking toward her.
She shivered for a moment like a scared cat in danger.
" Y-Yes? ", she answered.
" Uh, I was just staring at the view here. It's.. . nice and peaceful ", she added.
I sat beside her and stared at the scenery.
" Of course it is. This is my favorite view, after all. "
It's dark yet the stars shining makes it calming. The flow of the wind, giving peace to those who sit here. And the crickets' rhyming sound makes reality, a dream.
I saw her hiding something on her left hand. It looks like my grandma's crochet.
" What's that? Is that a crochet? "
When the girl shooked, I knew it was a crochet. She opened her left hand and my hunch was right.
" I just want to finish it. It looks like it'll break anytime soon if not finished ", she said, making excuses.
" You know how to crochet? "
" Yes. I learned it from my mom ", she replied, and continued.
" Hm, to be honest, that crochet you're holding right now is from my grandma ".
A shocked expression was visible to the girl's face.
" She really liked knitting so I bought that. Surprisingly, when I saw you holding that, I didn't get mad ", I exclaimed.
" Then where is your grandma? " she asked.
I stopped for a moment before answering.
" She's in the hospital, doing her best to survive ".
Perhaps, due to the gradually glooming atmosphere, Gael stood up and glanced at Elly.
" Get up now. It'll get colder as time passes by ".
. . . . . . . .
I heard the birds chirping outside so I got up. I went into the kitchen and brushed my teeth first. After that, I prepared some breakfast, a two-person course meal. And then I showered, preparing for my first subject.
I went into the living room, securing that the girl is still sleeping but to my surprise, she's already on the rooftop, knitting something. Again.
After preparing our breakfast, I called her to eat and like a cat, walked shyly towards me.
" Um, after I washed the dishes, can I continue this? ", she asked.
I see. So she's the type to do something pleasing if she's not in her house.
" Well, suit yourself, but if you have time, try to remember where your house is ".
We finished eating and I grabbed my backpack to head to my school.
I glanced at Elly and bid my goodbye.
. . . . . . .
A hand, waving from afar caught my attention. Who's that?
" Hey, Gael! Here! ", Felix said.
Ah, It's Felix.
Felix pointed out at the vacant seat next to him. I think he reserved that for me, right?
Gael walked towards him and sat. Judging from the voices inside the room, their first subject must be quite exciting.
" You looked so worn out. How many students did you teach to have those deep eye bugs, huh? " he exclaimed.
" And how many girls did you play with for the girls at the back to stare at us with killing intent, huh? " I exclaimed back.
" Dude, I swear I didn't! That girl has anger issues "
" Look who's talking ".
" Hey! I swear that I-! "
The prof's here, so shut it down ", I said, cutting him off.
The lecture began and I diligently listened. After my class I straightly went into the canteen to eat lunch when a sudden call shooked me.
An unknown number?
I picked up the call and what it said broke me.
