As they sit in the car, parked on the deserted street under the blanket of the night sky, a heavy silence hangs in the air. The only sound that breaks the stillness is the distant hum of traffic and the occasional flicker of streetlights casting eerie shadows on the surrounding buildings.
they both sit in shock, there minds reeling from the events that have just transpired at the cafe. The air inside the car is thick with tension as if they are suspended in time, waiting for the world to make sense again.
The darkness outside is suffocating, and the city seems to have retreated into its own world, leaving them alone in the midst of it all. The street is dimly lit, casting long shadows on the car and creating an atmosphere of unease and uncertainty.
As srishti turns to look at aahan, she see the same look of shock and disbelief mirrored in his eyes. The silence between them is deafening, as if words have lost their meaning and there is nothing left to say.
The night air is cold and still, adding to the heaviness of the moment. The weight of the situation hangs heavily over them, as they both struggle to make sense of the events that have transpired.
SRISHTI POV
As I sat there in disbelief, staring blankly ahead, I couldn't help but feel like God was playing some cruel game with me. The truth that had just been revealed was something that I didn't want to accept. "She can't do this. This can't be true," I murmured to myself.
But Aahan, my rock, was there with me. He gently took my hand and said, "I know it's hard to believe, but she did do it."
"How could she?" I whispered, my voice barely audible.
"Jaan, don't panic," he said, using his endearing nickname for me. "I'm here with you."
His touch and comforting words were enough to make me break down in tears. The betrayal hurt so much that I couldn't even think straight.
"I want to talk to her. I want to go to her house," I said, my voice shaking with emotion.
Aahan nodded understandingly, but we didn't have her address. He quickly made a call to someone and demanded the address within the next 10 minutes. His raised voice made me flinch, but he immediately calmed me down with his touch and kind words.
After a while, I began to feel emotionally stable again. All I needed was to see Aahan's smile, which he gave me as he spoke gently to me. It was a reminder that I wasn't alone in this and that he was there to support me through anything.
We finally reached her house, which was small and located in a not-so-great neighborhood. Finding a parking spot was difficult, as the area was quite cramped. When we rang the doorbell, it took a few moments for someone to answer, and it turned out to be her mother. She didn't seem too happy to see me, but she still invited us inside.
"Namaste aunty ji, kaise ho aap?" I greeted her, trying to act normal. Thankfully, my attempt seemed to work.
"Main theek hoon, tum batao kaisi ho?" she replied. I chuckled at her question and said that I was doing well. After a few seconds, I introduced Aahan to her.
"Aunty, ye Aahan hai, mera pati. Aap to humari shaadi mein aayi nahi thi, isiliye socha hum hi aa jaayein," I said, but I noticed something change in her expression. I couldn't quite put my finger on it.
"Aunty, woh kahan hai? Humein usse milna tha," I asked her. She laughed nervously and told us that she wasn't home. I asked her if we could retrieve something from her room, to which she nervously replied that we couldn't go there.
It was clear that I needed to go to her room, but how? Aahan seemed to understand what I was thinking, and he told her that we were hungry. Aunty looked awkward, as we were still standing there. She didn't even offer us a seat. After an awkward laugh, she told us to sit down and that she would make us something to eat, as it was dinner time.
As Aahan followed her to the kitchen, I used the opportunity to search for her room. I knew I had to be quick, as I didn't want to raise any suspicion.
AUTHOR POV
As Srishti entered the house, she quickly realized it was not a spacious place. It only had two rooms, which made it easy for her to navigate. She entered the second room, which was shrouded in darkness. After feeling around for the light switch, she finally managed to turn on the lights.
To her horror, the room was covered in photographs of her, all taken without her knowledge or consent. As she scanned through the images, she noticed two pictures that had been overlaid on each other. One was of Srishti herself, and the other was of Isha. The two pictures were eerily similar, from the makeup to the background, with the only difference being the person in the photo. Srishti was smiling towards the camera, and on the other side, Isha was also smiling, with the same hairstyle and Srishti's dupatta draped over her shoulder. It was clear that Isha had tried to recreate the same photo with herself in Srishti's place.
yes that was isha
FLASHBACK
Srishti felt a sudden pang of unease as she stared at the image on the screen. Harsh and Aahan were both leaning in, trying to make sense of the blurry figure in the video. But Srishti couldn't take her eyes off the hand that was visible in the video.
"Look here, that person's wrist and hand is visible," Harsh exclaimed, pointing at the laptop screen.
"And here I thought you both were intelligent," he added, bursting into laughter. But Srishti couldn't find anything funny about the situation.
As Harsh continued to chuckle, she saw the bracelet on the wrist of the person in the photo. It was a custom-made piece that Srishti had gifted to Isha.
"How can she...this is not true," Srishti murmured to herself, her expression a mixture of shock and disbelief.
"Who?" Harsh and Aahan asked at the same time.
"This...this bracelet. I gifted it to her. It's custom made," Srishti said slowly, still unable to believe what she was seeing.
"But who has it on?" Harsh asked, his laughter fading as he noticed the serious expression on Srishti's face.
"Isha. I gifted it to her," Srishti said, her voice barely above a whisper. The realization hit her like a ton of bricks.
"But why?" Srishti asked herself, as she tried to find an answer to the betrayal she felt. The memory of that moment still haunted her, leaving her with more questions than answers.
NOW
As Srishti scanned the room, her eyes fell on a board that surprised her. It contained a collage of pictures ranging from her family to the juice seller from her college whom she talk normally. There was a new addition - a picture of Aahan and her from their engagement, but with her side of the picture torn off.
The sight was painful for her. She was still processing what she had seen when the door opened with a nervous-looking aunty. Aahan was also there, with a defensive expression. But Srishti didn't acknowledge them as her focus was on the picture.
There were two pictures on the board - first one with Isha, and the other side had a blank space with a drawn "H" and a question mark, and a imaginary person was drawn there. The second picture was of Isha, with a cut and-pasted image of Aahan on the other side. The picture looked like it had been taken from a magazine.
All of this was a shock to Srishti, and her eyes then caught sight of a diary lying on the bed, as if someone had been writing in it.
SRISHTI POV
As I opened the diary, I saw that it didn't have much written in it. Each page only had one or two lines. The first page dated back to 7 years ago, when we started our MBBS.
"14 August 2016 - My first day in college, and I enjoyed it. Everyone is good, and I think they all love me."
"18 August 2016- Nothing special just a bunch of classmates who are buzzing around me like bee's annoying bee's."
"21 August 2016 - someone told me today that I'm pretty . Like i already know about this ."
"23 August 2016 - Today, a new girl came to our class. Everyone says that she is beautiful, but according to me, she is just okay."
"28 August 2016 - They all start talking to her and leave me alone."
"15 November 2016 - That girl is getting on my nerves. She is so cold to people, and she is not even that pretty. People like to sit with her like she's some kind of actress or model. Come on, guys, she doesn't have the figure that you are going to drool over."
"16 January 2017 - She starts talking to me after I complimented her. Of course, they were all fake, but look at what an easy-going bitch she is. Such an attention seeker!"
"26 July 2017 - I don't know if she is really this much of a fool, or she is trying to be. She told everyone that she would not attend this party, and they all tried to convince her to come with us. Eww, I don't want her to come with us."
"22 October 2017 - That bitch Srishti, yes, that's her name. Did she do something shady because her presentation was so low, and yet, she got first place?"
"24 December 2017 - That bitch got a letter today. What the hell? Didn't that person look at her face? But why did she get a letter with my nickname Ishu?"
"29 December 2017 - She thinks that all the letters are for her. How foolish."
"15 January 2018 - I just added some more letters. Let her enjoy them. Anyway, who will tell her?"
"5 February 2018 - How weak she is. She just ran."
"15 March 2018 - So, finally, that bitch is here again."
"16 July 2018 - Someone told her today that she is pretty. I want to kill that person."
"18 December 2018 - Anyway, that bitch is still helping me with my assignments."
"26 March 2019 - Today, I compared her with myself. Of course, I am prettier than her. People are just blind."
"25 December 2020 - So, basically, Srishti brought me a bracelet today, and I kept it. Why not? It had diamond in it. Anyway, that bitch is busy with some work."
"25 February 2023 - After such a long time, I finally caught up with Srishti. She had been busy, and I didn't have anything to write. She told me that she was getting married, and to none other than Aahan Oberoi. I was surprised, to say the least. I couldn't believe anyone would want to marry her.
"17th March 2023 - Srishti seems to have luck on her side these days.
"18th March 2023 - She's really going through with it. I can't help but wonder if she's looked at herself in the mirror.
"23rd March 2023 - Srishti doesn't deserve any of this. How can she be so rich? I am more worthy of all these things than her.
"28th March 2023 - Srishti is still receiving all those messages. It's time to have some fun.
"17th April 2023 - Ha! I ruined her reception. Now no one loves her, and Aahan will surely ditch her. This is so peaceful. Srishti didn't deserve any of it.
After reading everything, I was shocked and the feeling of betrayal was making me feel dizzy.
"Why would she--" I couldn't complete my sentence as Aahan hugged me, and aunty was still there, looking panicked.
As everyone was lost in their own thoughts, Srishti's phone began to ring. As Aahan had her phone, he picked it up, and the call was from an unknown number.
"Hello, Srishti? It's me, Harsh," the voice on the other end of the line identified himself as Harsh, and Aahan nodded.
"That's me. Srishti's not here. Is there anything ?" Aahan asked, and Harsh replied in a low voice, as if he didn't want anyone else to hear him.
"She's here," Harsh said, "I don't know what she's doing, but she has this creepy vibe. She's showing picture of Srishti to my staff and telling them that she wants the same thing that person in picture had ordered."
"That bitch. But how did she find out we were there?" Aahan asked, and Harsh said that he didn't know.
After ending the call, Srishti raised an eyebrow at Aahan, asking him what had happened, and he told her that Isha was at Harsh's café.
As they were talking, Isha's mother phone rang, and Isha's name showed up on the screen. Aunty looked nervous, and Aahan indicated to her to answer the call and put it on speaker, telling her to ask Isha to come home. Aunty nodded and answered the call.
"Hello, Mom. What is that bitch doing at our home?" Isha's voice sounded through the phone, which made both Srishti and Aahan shocked. How did she know they were at her home?
