We stayed here for a little less than a week and nothing happened. I still didn’t know what she was hiding and she still didn’t bring any hunters. I was sitting down watching as they pups played, for the first time since that problem happened. Gabe was now better, not blaming himself anymore. Even though he says that I still think that he is was still blaming himself, just a little.

The lady never gave us her name and neither did her son. They were hiding something, and I was dying to know. Dimitri and the other two were sitting together talking about things I wasn’t interested in and I heard as the lady came back with food for our dinner. I looked towards her and she smiled. I barked, I was saying thank you but I doubt she understood what I was saying anyway.

“You’re welcome.” She said and I looked at her somewhat shocked. Her son stood next to her with toys. I noticed that the pups stopped playing and looked at him. I knew full well they were staring at the toys, since they didn’t have anything like that. I walked over to the boy and he held out his hands to give me the toys. I took them, one by one and tossed them towards the pups. They quickly grabbed one toy and started playing by them-selves. I shook my head and I nudged the kids arm as a thank you. He pet my head and smiled.

“You’re welcome.” He said and looked at his mom. She looked at him and smiled then looked at me and I swear something about the look in her eyes tipped me off that she knew what we were. I felt kind of worried now. I sat down and looked down towards the food she brought. I sniffed at it and nothing was wrong with it. I looked back up to her and she smiled then backed up.

“Well we’ll see you in the morning.” She said and I whined saying okay.” Alright, you guys have a good sleep.”

After that she left and I made the kids come eat before I took their new toys away. They came running over and grabbed some then running back over to their spots and ate. Antonio and Sarina have been with each other since that night, and they seem to be getting closer. Hopefully nothing happens too early for them. I mean with the marking and stuff like that. I picked up some meat and let the rest of the pack get some as well. I walked over to Dimitri who was now sitting alone as Gabe and Alaric went to eat with their loved ones. I sat down and dropped the meat down. Dimitri looked up and whimpered for me to lie next to him. I rolled my eyes and laid in front of him so we were looking at each other.

‘So did you find out anything yet?’ He asked. I shook my head and forgot what just happened not too long ago.

‘Actually when I looked at her just before, something about the look in her eyes made me wonder. I think she knows what we are.’ I said and Dimitri just nodded.

‘I figured she might, I mean no one would actually go near a wolf if it wasn’t like us.’ Dimitri said. I guess he was right, but it was rare to find a wolf that wasn’t of our kind. Our race almost over took them. I took a bite of the meat, and realized I haven’t been complaining about the raw meat that she’s been giving us. Well who would, you’re getting free food without hunting.

As we ate I just thought. What if they knew something that would affect us tremendously? I was hoping it was something good and not bad. I looked up at the sky and saw as tonight would be a full moon. I felt it in my very body, the heat that was warming my body was stronger today than any other night. We finished eating and I snuggled into Dimitri side.

I closed my eyes and tried to fall asleep. I don’t know how long I was asleep for, but there was a sudden loud boom that woke everyone up. We looked around and we started smelling smoke. I turned to Dimitri worried. It was coming from the direction that the women and her son walked to.

‘Do you think…?’ I started. He stopped me.

‘Don’t think that way. We don’t know what happened yet.’ He said and I just looked towards the same direction again. A few minutes past and we started seeing the fire rise up into the air and I was now starting to get very scared.

‘I really think something happened to them. Do you think the Hunters hurt them for helping us?’ I asked my voice shaking with fear.

‘No, they wouldn’t hurt their own kind….’ Dimitri said and then we heard as two people stopped running where we were. We looked and saw the lady and her son. They were running like crazy and were out of breath.

“We have to go now!” The lady said. We didn’t move and she screamed with frustration.” NOW!”

We looked at her as if she was crazy and she just started to get into who she was.

“My name is Kyra and this is my son Damien. My husband is in the next town ahead of us; and if we leave now we can out run the hunters.” She explained. I think I heard that name somewhere. I looked at Dimitri and he knew I was going to ask if I could change to talk to her. So he nodded allowing me to talk to her I smiled and shifted.

“What’s going on here?” I asked and she didn’t seemed shock at all and neither did her son.

“They found out I was helping out a pack of wolves and I don’t know how, but they came and attacked us.” Kyra said.

“Why would they attack you?” I asked and she gave me a final answer.

“Because I’m just like you.”
