The next morning I woke up before everybody else, getting up and seeing Glenn on watch by the buses, when really he was asleep to. I lightly chuckled as I did a quick stroll around the fence to make sure everything was secure. Walking through camp, I noticed Daryl was missing, probably out hunting if I had to guess. He was sleeping just about as much as I was now a days, which wasn't much...

Walking along the outside fence, a couple of walkers had crowded around, all the gun shots from yesterday most likely brought them here. Using my knife, I started taking them down through the fence. It didn't take long before I noticed Daryl coming back through the trees with a few more squirrels in his hand.

"You were up early?" I said, starting to untie the cord from the fence we used to get inside.

"I don't need as much sleep as the rest of ya," he grumbled, slipping through fence and right past me. I followed his back as he headed  into camp without another word. Did I say something to piss him off?

Everybody else was now awake and moving about the camp, it didn't take long for Rick to gather everybody up and start going over today's agenda. Our goal was to clear out the closest cell block that way we could move everybody inside and out of the open.

"I'm gonna need all hands on deck, we leave in five," Rick said, looking over us.

I nodded my head and started gathering my weapons and counting my arrows. I heard heavy foot steps come up behind me and I didn't even have to turn around to know whose they'd belong to.

"I'm going with you guys," I said aloud, not turning around.

"No, your'e not," he grumbled.

"Well tough," I said, throwing my bow over my shoulder and turning to face him. Daryl stood there, looking down at me with the two inches he had on me height wise.

Before he could argue further, Rick started barking out orders again, yelling to move out. I pushed past Daryl and headed towards the gate, his angry steps following behind me. We went over the plan one last time before Lori opened the gate and we went through, hearing it shut behind us.

"Stay in formation, watch each other's backs!" Rick reminded us as we moved in a circular formation.

I had Daryl to my left, and Maggie to my right as we shuffled across the way towards the cell block. I shot an arrow from my bow, landing it through a biters forehead, before clutching my knife to kill the next one. Only when I went to stab it, an arrow flew past and killed it first. I didn't dare pull my attention away to glare at Daryl, I just kept moving with the rest of the group, ripping my arrow from the biters head and reloading it onto my bow.

We made it along side one of the watch towers and pressed against it, peering over to the front of the cell block when a small group of walkers dressed in full riot gear turned the corner. Daryl shot his bow at one, only for the arrow to bounce off the shield mask not even stunning the thing. Maggie pushed the walker back as we all stood by confused on what to do. How do you kill a walker with bullet proof armor?! The sound of a knife sinking through flesh caught everyone's attention as Maggie pulled the walkers head back and shoving her knife under the helmet.

"You see that?" She looked at us, the walker by her feet lifeless.

We quickly followed her lead, stabbing the reinforced biters under their helmets. The next step was clearing out inside the cell block. It wasn't nearly as bad as I expected it to be, most of the prisoners must've been outside in the yard when shit hit the fan. So it didn't take long before the cell block was clear and we were bringing everybody inside. We even scavenged two sets of keys to the place, Rick with the first set and Daryl holding onto the other.

"Well I don't know about you bunch but I ain't sleeping in no cage, I'll take the perch," Daryl announced, pulling a mattress out of a random cell.

"I'm gonna take the southern watch tower," I said afterwards, pulling a mattress for myself.

Everybody gave me confused looks as I made my way across the cat walk outside and into the tower. It was closed in so the weather would stay off me, and far enough away for some real privacy but close that if something happened I was just a sprint away. I know the group probably expected me to stay inside with them, but having my own space would work out in everyone's favor. I also wasn't 100% down with sleeping in a cement cage either.

At least out here I had a nice view of outside, there wasn't anything close by for miles, just endless trees and walking corpses. I stepped out onto the catwalk and leaned my forearms onto the metal rusted bars, we had yet to make a home of this place.
