Rin could only promise to behave for some allotted amount of time before she broke her promise. This is how her behavior had been since her capture. Stubbornness at it's finest. If she can't beat the yokai, she'll make sure she made every minute he spent time with her miserable.

She managed to hide chopsticks from their  meal and sharpened it like two deadly daggers, tucking it inside her kimono.

She glanced at Jiro across the room, his head lowered, eyes busy with the scroll stretched on his table. Rin knew he's probably aware of her eyes on him, and she knew that he could probably tell what she's thinking.

"Whatever you're thinking Rin. I wouldn't dare do it." He groaned from across the room.

"What are you saying? I'm not thinking anything." She spat.

He lifted his eyes, taking note of the tension on her shoulders. "So you say," and casts his gaze back down on the scroll taking up most of his attention the last hour or so.

Silence loomed and the two were quiet for a little while until Rin made a subtle maneuvering of her leg.

Jiro lifted his head.

Rin flashed him a sweet smile.

Jiro winked at her.

Rin pretended to sleep.

Jiro dropped his head back to the scroll he's been reading.

Silence fell among them once again but they both knew it wasn't going to last. It's just a matter of time before Rin get bored and tries to do something else.

An object flew across the room, It was Rin who hurled a chopstick like dagger to Jiro. It struck him on his arm, pinning him on the table. He scowled, not at the pain, Jiro barely felt the chopstick puncture him, but at the suddenness of it. He was expecting Rin to do something stupid, but the timeliness of it is what threw him off.

He was busy and he was barely paying attention.

"Rin!" He snarled, but Rin had already climbed to the wide bay window in his office and threw herself out to escape.

Jiro shot up to his feet, yanking the wooden chopstick off, chunking it to the floor.

"RIN!"

Jiro screamed panic rode the sound of his thundering voice. He hurled himself forward and with one great flap of his massive wings, he launched into the sky, well aware of the danger waiting for her.

Stubborn human! He coursed against the wind.

"RIN!" He bellowed across the open space; his loud voice bounced off the restless leaves around him. He knew she couldn't have gotten far he was just behind her.

"RIN!" He yelled again; eyes frantic as he searched for her in the land beneath.

Rin craned her head upwards, gust of wind stirred dead leaves and dirt on the ground. Jiro's powerful wings outstretched in the sky, and she hasn't seen him like that in a little while.

Such a waste, with those incredible wings, Rin couldn't imagine herself living a life like Jiro. Sedentary in his manor, meddling with spirit world politics and running a village. She would have ran away a long time ago, she thought. She would have been out there hugging the skies free to live the kind of life she wants instead.

RIN!

His bellow made her flinch, waking her from her trance. Rin took the path to the back of the garden, passed the gates and to the way leading to the foot of the mountain - when a sudden wave hit her stomach like cement, causing her to lurch a few steps back only to fall into a body of water.

She splashed, her arms thrashed. She wasn't sure what just happened, kicking her feet beneath with nothing to plant them steady.

Rin tried to grapple through something she could reach, but the water slammed her back sweeping her under the surface, stealing her breath from under her lungs.

Her lungs burned, and it's painful. She tried to reach back to the surface, gasping for more air, fists above the water clawing her fingers but there's no way to hold on to the liquid. Helpless, as the dark ominous water that seemed to be alive with malice pulled her back beneath.

How...how did she wind up in the water?

She remembered the path down the mountain, and she could have made sure there's no lake or river nearby.

But no, this is not just a small body of water. This is an ocean.

"Help!" She yelled, water slipped down her breath, she gurled more of it, sending her lungs on fire.
