Osamu POV
I groaned as I woke up. I looked around and noticed I was laying on the floor. My whole body ached and I could feel all the bruises on my body. I looked around to see if Tsumu was okay. He was also lying on the floor all beat up. It's nothing new that we find ourselves lying on the floor after getting beaten up. It's not like our parents would bring us to bed and tuck us in goodnight.
I looked over to the clock. It was 5am. I quickly crawled over to Tsumu and shook him up. Tsumu had dried blood all over his head. Dad was always stronger in hitting but mom was always scarier since she liked to use anything in sight to hit us with. They both had that evil demeanour surrounding them.
Once Tsumu woke up I quickly hugged him. We do this quite often since we never knew when they would actually beat us to death. It was also like an act of comfort just to let each other know that we were there for each other.
We hugged before standing up and cleaning the place quickly. We put the alcohol bottles in the recycling and cleaned all the dry blood off the floor. After that we walked into the kitchen and saw the most horrifying sight. Our parents were lying on our kitchen table lifeless. Tsumu was screaming. There was a knife in my fathers chest right on his heart. My mother just lay on the table holding a bunch of sleeping pill bottles.
"AHHH WHAT HAPPENED?! WE WERE OUT FOR LIKE A FEW HOURS ONLY" Tsumu panicked.
"w-what should w-we do Samu?" Tsumu turned to me but I didn't know. I wasn't that sad they were dead but I still felt bad. Of course I never wish death upon anyone. It's just that these past few years haven't really been the best. They did treat us great before we turned 10. They acted like real parents but now I don't feel sad at all. Rather a weight has been lifted off my shoulder.
"WHAT ABOUT THE MONEY WE OWE" Tsumu suddenly bursted. I widened my eyes. How could I forget about that. Did they kill themselves just so that they could leave the burden onto us? I hope they burn in hell. I can't believe it. Tsumu and I even got a job to help them pay off their debt but now it's on us.
"Tsumu c-call the police" I said.
"No you do" he said.
"Shut yer trap and just call them." I say and this time he actually listens.
We just sat and stared at our dead parents until the police arrived. We opened the door for them and told them what happened. The police drove us to the station. They helped us bandage our wounds and clean us up. After that they contacted our auntie who unwillingly took us in. She complained the whole car ride that we were a burden to her. Of course we were a burden to her. Just like we were a burden to our parents.
She was no different. She thought of us as a burden like everyone else did. Once we got back to her house she gave us a small little room for us to share. It had a bunk bed. There was no closet and it had a tiny little bathroom with a single shower stall. The room didn't even half lights inside, only a tiny window. The floor was cold and the room was covered in dust. The paint of the walls were chipping off. It felt like a prison.
We ended up not going to school again due to all the police work and moving in to our aunts house. We finished unpacking which wasn't much. We placed our clothes in the corner of our room on the floor. We didn't have much clothes, just our school uniform, work uniform and some long sleeved clothing. Our beds didn't have a blanket or pillow. It didn't even have a bed sheet. I guess this is our new life. We walked out of our room to the kitchen only to see our aunt sitting at the kitchen counter as if she was waiting for us. She glared at us as we sat in front of her. Her eyes drilling holes into us as she watched our every move.
"So Miya's. You will address me as ma'am. Don't ever think of me as your guardian. I am not only ashamed but I want ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with you. If you want to stay here you will have to pay me rent so go find a job or something. Only stay in your room when you are here as I do not want to see your disgusting clone faces. You hear me!" She said glaring at us the whole time she spoke. Her voice was stern and held authority. Definitely someone we shouldn't mess with.
"Um.. ma'am. We have to pay off the debt our parents left us." I say.
"WELL THATS NOT MY PROBLEM! GO FIND ANOTHER JOB THEN! MAKE YOURSELF USEFUL" she yelled slapping me across the face. Tsumu and I had widened eyes. I guess we can't escape the abuse...
After she slapped me she dismissed us and we quickly rushed into our tiny room. Once we got inside Tsumu crushed me in a hug.
"Yer ok? I can't believe it. Why do we have to live like this? Why us?" Tsumu says.
"Tsum tsum... how are we gonna earn enough money." I mumbled in his shoulder. I didn't care about the pain radiating off my face as a handprint formed on my cheek. It was so painful but I knew we had bigger problems.
"More jobs?" He said and I nodded. Our life was about to get more stressful than ever. The two of us decided to sleep early. We both slept together on the bottom bunk and used each other's bodies as warmth since we didn't have a blanket.
If all goes well, tomorrow will finally be our first day at school.
