The gas flowed in, all doors were blocked, it was hard to breath. I knew the Devil was close. Quickly grabbing one of the darts, I threw it onto the ground hoping for some kind of miracle to happen - and it did. A type of force field bubbled around the group of people around me, granting them safety and clean air. "Everyone! Follow me!" I waved, guiding everyone towards the hole - our only exit. Enemies from every direction attacked us. An ambush. I looked back noticing someone's disappearance, Mugman, "Guys! We've lost Mugman!" "Le... Leave him! I-It's too risky to get him back now!" Spooky struggled to even get the words out. I turned back and saw a group of minions carrying him, "I'm going to get him back." It was too risky to leave BOTH the cup bros in the Devil's grasp! I heard Sans and Bendy yelling something but it was too late, I was off.
I heard them, but I couldn't locate its source. "Well, well. Y/N! It's a pleasure to see you here..." I felt his cold stare before I even saw him. The feeling wasn't neutral. I hid my gem behind my back but it was likely he already knew that I've got it. I looked up at the Devil, trying to look calm with Mugman struggling in his hands. He was back with his normal form - probably from damage. "Hello Devil. I see you have Cuphead and Mugman, now. It really is a shame that you're only missing the orb." The Devil squeezes Mugman, making him cry. My heart dropped seeing his brother laugh. Slowly, smoothly, faintly; I moved a dart into my free hand. He just laughed, coldly, "you, human, have the power that none of these people contain. The power of this incredible gem, that surprisingly went missing. Oh, I wonder where it went? Hmm?!" With a snap of his fingers, Cuphead obayed his unsaid commands, rushing towards me with his gun charged up in my face. My physical emotions unfased but inside I was scared. The sudden movement startled me. "Give the orb up, Y/N, or I'll let Boss destroy my good-for-nothing brother AND I'll kill you. Right here, and now..." I tightened the grip around the dart, being careful of my next move. I never left my gaze off of any of them. I could hear the gun coming closer to firing every second I stood still. Mugman thrashed in the Devil's grip, trying to excape, "C-Cuphead! Please! Snap out of it!" Cuphead turned around to him, growling, "Snap out of what?! This is me! The Devil's left hand man! And if you don't like me then just DI-" I injected the dart in his shoulder, muffling the last of his words. The Devil's eyes grew wider and attempted to grab me. "You think you can defeat me!? Once I'm gone, all of this will disappear like myth and no one will understand your language." I shook my head, "Wrong! We'll all live in peace! You're just in the way of this happy ending!!" "Tch! Classic 'hero'. Who are you saving?! No mater what, you're causing pain, suffering and sadness. We, as the 'villians', aren't always wrong, we are people, WE are the same as them. We have rights." He... had a point. Grabbing the empty dart, I chucked it to his hand, releasing Mugman. Quickly, I pulled Cups to a safe place and waited for Mugman.
"Arg... My head," Cuphead croaked. When I was him again his purple colour faded back to red, his straw healed, claws no more. "W-Where am I? -! MUGMAN!!" Cups darted up quickly making me grab his should to stay down, "It's not safe yet Cups. You need rest." "REST!? Because of me his in a dangerous situation AGAIN! I-I need to find him!" I almost missed his stubbornness. I shook my head as Mugman appeared around the corner. Cuphead cried out his name and hugs his brother tight, shocking the blue cup. Mugman steps back a bit, scarred, scared, "C-Cuphead?..." The red cup moved back and looked away, knowing he needed his space. All the terrible things he said, the terrible things he's done, the pain he's inflicted on others - unable to take it back. I couldn't help him. I guess it's time to get back to the group...
