At some point, rumors began circulating among several high schools in Tokyo:

You don't have to believe that Bokuto's idiocy is actually genius, but you must believe whatever Uesui Ruki says—because he's a jinx—no, wait, a fortune teller!

The two who were slandered:

"Bullshit!"

In the eyes of outsiders, Itachiyama Institute's volleyball team is the reigning champion, a powerhouse that has never missed a national tournament. But despite their dominance, they face a daily dilemma.

Daily question for the volleyball team:

Has Uesui gotten his lucky charm today? What's his fortune looking like?

He got it: The match is as good as won.

He didn't get it: Find a way to get it for him—or swap him out.

Uesui Ruki, a second-year at Itachiyama, is a powerhouse player—but a problematic one. Without a lucky charm, he's cursed with misfortune, making him a liability in matches.

TOKYO STREETS

"STOP RIGHT THERE!!!"

A teenager was pedaling a cart at breakneck speed, with a white-haired, green-eyed boy sitting inside. Behind them, a gang of furious students was chasing after them, their faces twisted in rage. The entire group blazed through the streets like a storm.

The Tokyo locals barely batted an eye—just another day in Tokyo. Nothing unusual.

Leading the chase, Anai shouted:

"Uesui! Make Hase-senpai stop! If you get off now, you might still have a future!"

Seated leisurely in the cart, Uesui's tiny ponytail swayed in the wind as he held a set of dentures wrapped in a handkerchief. Flashing a mysterious smile at his pursuers, he replied:

"No, I refuse."

"If you've got the guts, then catch us."

Itachiyama team: Oh, so it's a chase you want?

—————

Hase, out of stamina, was forced to stop. The two troublemakers, now sporting massive lumps on their heads, knelt inside the gymnasium.

Uesui: "I only took the dentures that Yamashita-sensei didn't want as my lucky charm."

Hase: "I only helped Ruki escape."

Both: "What did we do wrong?!"

Team Captain Iizuna facepalmed:

"You two are supposed to be seniors! Can you at least act a little more reliable?! Now give Yamashita-sensei his dentures back!"

You two really had the nerve to steal a sixty-year-old teacher's dentures?! He just didn't hear you properly—he never said you could take them!

Fellow second-year Sakusa, disgusted: "Idiots."

The visiting Fukurodani team, invited for a practice match: Uesui-kun is just as fascinating as ever.

Bokuto suddenly jumped in:

"HEY! HEY! HEY! UESUI! Today, we're settling this once and for all!"

Still kneeling but utterly unfazed, Uesui smirked.

"Hmph. Do your best and leave the rest to fate. I won't make a single mistake today."

Watching his teammate get fired up, Anai hesitantly held up the wrapped dentures and turned to Iizuna.

"Iizuna-senpai, should I return these now?"

"...Forget it. Give them back after the match."

Fukurodani team, realizing the situation:

So today's lucky charm... is dentures? That's weird. Let's take another look.

Uesui, clutching his lucky charm:

I won't make a mistake today.

Reading Notes (from the fanfiction Author):

① Except for Sakusa, Komori, Iizuna, and Yamashita, all teammates are original characters—don't worry if you don't recognize them.

② The protagonist is Midorima's (T.N.: from the anime Kuroko's Basketball) cousin and changes his lucky charm daily. Some are normal, some are... not. (Don't be surprised.)

③ In this story, Spring High has no regrets, no injuries, and Itachiyama is undefeated.

④ Matches focus on the entire team, and both competing teams will be portrayed in detail.

Main Characters:

Uesui Ruki, Sakusa, Oikawa, Iizuna, Komori

One-line Summary:

You better believe in astrology.

Theme:

Do your best, leave the rest to fate.

Name Meaning:

上水流輝

Uesui Ruki

Uesui: "上" (Ue) means "above" or "upper," and "水" (sui/mizu) means "water."

Ruki: 流 (Ru) means "flow" and can be read as "ru" and, 輝 (Ki) means "radiance" or "shine" and is often read as "ki" in names.

Meaning: "Radiant flow of upper water" or "Shining flow from above."

It can also be interpreted as 'Kamizuru Hikari,' where '上水' (Kamizuru) means 'upper water' or 'above water,' '流' (ru) signifies 'flow,' and '輝' (Hikari) translates to 'light' or 'radiance' which can be interpreted as "the radiance that flows from above" or "the light of the upper stream." This is simply for extra information, though, since all of my drafts have already translated it into Uesui Ruki.

Translation inconsistencies WILL arise but translation quality will increase as time goes on.

Adding another fanfiction! This one is just a test, to see whether I can handle uploading 3 fanfictions simultaneously!
