Ging looked at Gon(Gon, that's his name Ging) in his arms and tried to search for any of Hyacinth's features. But no matter how much he looked, he could only see himself.

Gon's eyes were dark brown like his(not green), his hair is black but tinted with green(not like her) and Gon look basically like him, only miniature.

But what could he expect their child to be like when he was the one who carried him. Hyacinth could not give birth to any life(I am the Mistress of Death Ging, I can control death, but life? I can't) so he used the pregnancy stone to have a child that could even further their relationship(He wants to tie him with her, this way, she would not leave him)

It might be an effect of slowly loosing his mind over where Hyacinth is(Don't leave him), but Ging does not know what to do with this child. It was such a stark difference with how much he(they) yearned for this child months before but now, Hyacinth is gone. The last thing he saw was a dark claw-like hand that pulled her to a distorted place. Where is she? (Why did she leave him?)

Ging mope for a while but swiftly composed himself. What is he doing? He is a hunter, instead of questioning the inexplicable, just find Hyacinth himself.

Ging looked at the tiny baby in his arms again. The baby looks so fragile, he could not take him with his search(and adventure). So Ging made up his mind(and when he made up his mind, no one can change it, no one except for Hyacinth), the baby will stay with Mito, safe and far away from the dangers of being a hunter.

Once he found Hyacinth, they would get their child and have adventures together. Once he found Hyacinth, he would say his apologies for abandoning him. But Ging know deep in his heart, that abandoning him to become a hunter(I want to hunt her) would never be one of his regrets(He will, he will regret it)

Now, it's time to show his skills as a hunter.

Author's note: in the anime, Ging abandoned Gon to pursue his dreams as a hunter, in the manga, he was initially set up to be this heroic man whom Mito forced to abandon his son but in this AU, Ging still voluntarily abandoned Gon in return for being a hunter, only this time, he is hunting for his wife(and discovering ancient ruins along the way)

While you could see him addressing his son as Gon at first, once he set his mind to finding Hyacinth, he addressed Gon as the baby. He is emotionally distancing himself.
