A Much Needed Explanation

This is a chapter that was deleted by Wattpad that I had to remake from scratch. So if you saw that I published a new chapter, just know that this is just me recreating an old chapter and has nothing to do with where we currently are in the story.

"That'd just be preposterous. Ludicrous. A little goofy if I will"

'If I could do those things, wouldn't that troll have told me? Seeing as the only thing he seems to want is chaos, wouldn't telling a random stranger they can bend reality before sending them to a different world be the perfect way to cause it?'

You shook your head, clearing it of the numerous theories that wanted to surface.

'You know what? After everything I've been through, I think I should take a break and review'

You looked towards the stack of papers on a side of the table, with only a single paper next to them.

'Awwww he saved it. I thought I saw it when I first woke up here after my fight with Rose, but it's good to know I didn't lose this'

Taking the paper, you looked over it.

Goals

1. Smash Catwoman, goal #6 is actually goal #2
2. Find the Troll
3. Tell the world Ja-Joker is dead, is kinda a wildcard since I can do it anytime
4. Look at goal #5
5. Try to survive, actually goal #1
6. Get back home

Your smile slowly withered away as you looked at the list of goals you set yourself, and how not close you were to completing them.

'I.....I guess I can cross off #3? The world CLEARLY KNOWS so I guess that's a goal completed? Yay?'

Doing as you said you would, you crossed out your third goal.

'I've been doing a shit job at goal #5 that's actually goal #1. And I'm no closer to getting back home or finding that stupid little troll. Not to mention I'm still not close to smashing Catwoman, which is the biggest let down of the list'

'You know what, maybe I did well on the other page'

Flipping the page over, you were not meant with the resists you wanted.

People I Should Not Try Any Funny Shit With

1. Deathstroke
2. Any of Batman's Rose Gallery, they all crazy sons of a bitches
3. League of Assassins
4. Any of Supermans enemies, they all overpowered sons of a bitches
5. Raven, if I mess with her father dearest will squash me
6. Black Canary, I don't want to go deaf, although I could probably survive even if I was.
7. Reverse Flash, pretty sure I could shoot him even if he was running but you never know when he could do something like "It was me Y/N, I"- stop thinking about it.
8. Avoid Deathstroke
9. Avoid Deathstrokes daughter
10. Aquaman, the man can summon SHARKS, I'M NOT FIGHTING SHARKS FOR A FITH TiME
11. Deathstroke
12. Jesus, you never know when he might finally fight me once more.
13. A certain Jason Todd, the man has no filter

14. Amanda Waller/Suicide Squad

'This..................HOW COULD I BE SO BAD AT STICKING TO THE RULES I SET FOR MYSELF?!?'

You wanted to slowly wither away and die. But that would mean failing at goal #1.

'I haven't encountered Deathstroke which is good. I'm somehow roommates with Hugo Strange so I failed at not encountering any of Batman's Rose? Rogue? gallery. Thank god I haven't met anyone from the League of Assassins. I fought Livewire so I failed at not encountering a Superman enemy. I met Raven. Haven't met Canary. Punched the shit out of Reverse Flash. Kissed Deathstroke's daughter. Thankfully haven't met any more sharks. Jesus is still being a coward. Jason is off somewhere. And I almost fucking died to the Suicide Squad'

"All in all, met 6 of what I listed out of 11. Which means if I do the math I have a 55% chance of getting fucked over in this world"
........
........
........
'What would that be in decimals?'

'Oh god my brain feels like it's about to burst just from thinking this hard. I still need rest'

You looked towards the bed, and then towards the exit to the room.

'Nah, I'm actually completely fine. In fact I need a place to relax' You lied to yourself.

"Hey Hugo!" You pushed your chair back and yelled out, your voice echoing throughout the corridor.
....
....
....
"What!?" He yelled back, sounding more annoyed than anything.

"Does this place have a lounge!?"

"Yes!"

"Where!?"

"You should be resting!"

"Tell me!"

"Fine! Take a left when you leave the room, then on your second right take the fourth door!"

"Can you please keep it down!"

A third voice joined in the conversation, one that sounded slightly feminine, but you were probably just hearing things.

Forcing yourself out of your chair, you stumbled to the doorway, before regaining your footing and grabbing onto the entrance frame for support.

Then, you left the room, not even bothering to take off the hospital gown you were wearing.

You peered around the doorframe with no door before you even considered walking into the room, only to relax yourself when you saw it's contents.

The room was quite large. There was a TV hung up in a corner of the space, although it was cracked and looked unusable. Two long couches were on either side of said TV, with a third smaller couch at the helm, all surrounding a table slightly bigger than a coffee table.

In a corner was a mini bar setup. A display was built into the wall, with a few stools along the bar for people to sit at. Next to it was a large whiteboard.

There was even a pool table along with all the necessary equipment in a different section of the room, making you reconsider the fact that the Asylum completely sucked.

You plopped yourself down onto the couch facing away from the bar, relaxing a little.

'Is this place even a break room?'
"Now I know you must be thinking about whether this is actually a break room or not"

You turned your head backwards, and saw Strange behind the bar, staring at the display.

"But I assure you, for a staff working at the Arkham Asylum this much is nothing. We all need a drink every now and then to deal with what we see here. Or I guess they needed it. I always considered the pool table and TV unnecessary"

"That's because you probably enjoyed what you saw while working so you got your entertainment from there"

"You seem to know quite a bit about what you shouldn't and little about what you should"

As if not interested in the liquor anymore, he turned his body so he was facing you.

You tried to ignore this and shut your eyes in an attempt to enjoy the peace and quiet. But that didn't work. You could still feel his gaze, which made you unable to do what you wanted to do. Relax.

'Why is he just staring at me? He has no reason to unless he.........unless he's curious...............did he find out?'

You opened your eyes, a feeling of unease washing over you.

"Hey Hugo"
"Yes?"
"How much do you know"
"That you don't have a healing factor, but your body naturally heals itself way quicker than any normal human"
"That's all?"
"Yes"
"Good"

Hugo looked at you with a small smile.
"You do know you'll have to tell me more about yourself eventually. You must already know that curiosity is a factor that drives me, and you've beyond peaked my interest"
"I see no need"
"I see every need. The fact you know so much about everything yet are unaware of the now"
"Stop speaking in riddles"
"Fine, I'll be blunt. You didn't seem surprised when I told you the identity of Static Shock. You knew exactly who I was. And yet, you don't even know about the Zones. Tell me how that makes sense?"

You didn't know what he was talking about, but you hated that he had a point. Hugo Strange was a man partly fuelled by his curiosity for the minds of others, and with the little droplets of information you let slip to the surface that you knew he seemed fully invested in you.

"You said something about Zones when we were in the car. Explain"

Strange stared at you for a few moments longer before speaking.

"Four. Gotham has been divided into a class of four different Zones. Green, Yellow, Red, Black"
"What's the difference between them?"
"Danger level and the chance of making it out alive"
"Elaborate"

"Alright then. The Green Zone is in short almost all of Midtown Gotham. It is a place where the city have put most of their military power in protecting, possibly because if they were forced onto any of the other islands they'd be backed in a corner. Crime is low, but the punishment of even small crimes has increased to the point where one could call it tyranny. A show of power to try to dissuade others, but their way of going about it is short-sighted. Although I can't really blame the ones at the top, since they're probably camped out in the heart of the Green Zone, frightened out of their minds like the cowards they are"-

"I apologize, it seemed I got a little sidetracked"

The doctor recomposed himself, something that didn't go unnoticed by you.

"The Yellow Zone consists of Bowery, Chinatown, and partly Old Gotham. Those places haven't changed so much. If you match the rise in criminals to the rise in police power, those places are as dangerous as Gotham was before the Joker's death. Still, that means a normal person won't survive out in the open there for long. Not to mention, I hear a few former Asylum members are lying low there, or using it as a base of operations. If the numerous amount of expensive jewels going missing are an indicator, I say one person that stays there for sure would be Catwoman"

You made a mental note of that for completely tactical reasons.

"The Red Zone includes the Narrows, half of Old Gotham, the Financial District, and Gotham Village. That entire section of Downtown Gotham has turned into a very dangerous place. Due to the new bridges constructed a few months ago connecting the islands, the Narrows have become even more neglected, coupled with how unbalanced the criminal world is, that place has gotten even worse. The city is still somewhat trying to take the place back, but they've barely scratched the surface of that place. I doubt they'll conquer it"

By this time you were listening quite intently.

"What about the last one?"

"The Black Zone?"
"Yes"
"Hell"
"...........What?"
"All of Uptown Gotham can be described as a living hell. So much so that it's been given the nickname 9th circle along with the ranking of "Black""
"Why? How do you know it's that bad?"
"To answer why, that's because it's where Joker had almost all of his base of operations. And now, everyone he kept in check have no one else to hold them down"

Strange just let out a sigh.

"As for your other question, how do I know it's that bad? Should I list them for you? There's a constant clash between different mafia groups for control over part of the city Joker left behind. People are constantly going missing and then appearing again only strung up for display and dead. There's said to be a war going on between Black Mask and a group of three that's resulted in hundreds killed. Criminals are taking the chance to hide in among the chaos, which is only adding to it. Fire is being set to buildings at seemingly random. Penguin and Two Face are engaged in a war if their own. I suspect multiple escapees are using that place to either restart their operations or recuperate. And Gotham has given up on trying to save it. There's even the Lords-.............anyways, try to take in everything I just said.
Now tell me, is it reasonable to say the situation is "bad" currently?"

You remained stone-faced, there was no visible change in your expression as you stared at the broken TV. Yet, your hand was scrunched into a fist with so much force that your veins were visibly popping out against your skin.

"I-......I see"

Strange looked at you a little expectantly, as if he was trying to gauge your reaction.

"Are all exit points still blocked off?"
"They've fortified any way out of Gotham to the point where only the League could force their way through"

"Do we have enough food to bunker down?"

"We should have enough to last us a while, but the money you were supposed to retrieve would've been a good method of easing my conscious"-

"Please I am BEGGING you to get something better than what we have. I won't be able to survive another week eating that stuff"

A new voice interjected itself into your guys's conversation.

You looked to the entryway into the room and saw Static, who seemed to be marvelling at the room.

"Sweet"

He hobbled his still patched up body and plopped down onto the couch, looking at you expectantly.

"Why'd you call me over Y/N?"
"You called him over?"
"Yes, I called him over before I entered the room because I knew knowing you you'd join me"

You stared at Hugo with narrowed eyes, before turning back to Static.

"The reason being, I want all of us to discuss individuals or groups that we should avoid at all costs. Static, you're a Hero or I guess former Hero? Strange, you're a sadistic doctor. And I have a general knowledge of some dangerous people"

Static looked a bit confused but excited, while Strange looked intrigue.

It's true this was the reason you called Static over here, but it was also a good way to shift the conversation so you and Strange were no longer talking about problems that arose from your failings or choices.

"And we're going to organize those we list off.........USING A LIST!"

You popped up out from your spot in the couch and a second later you were standing right beside the whiteboard.

"A list?" Static seemed the most confused by this.
"YES"
"Why a list?" Hugo also voiced his curiosity.
"Why not?"
"Sound logic" Static seemed convinced.

"But L/N, we're out of any markers. One of the inmates had an obsession with them and I'm assuming he stole all of them during the Asylum breakout, so I don't think a list will"-

"It's completely fine"

You reached out into the void before pulling out a black marker.

"Watdafuck"

"Now that we have our marker we can"-

"How did you"-

"Shhhhhhhhhhh"

You put a finger over your lips, gesturing to Static to be quiet.

"Do not question it my child"

"Now, I say the first person that should be on this list should be"-

"Deathstroke"

All three of you spoke the same name at once, as if in unison.

"Glad we could all come to an agreement. Now for the rest"

After a few hours of contemplating, the list ended up like this.

1. Deathstroke
2. Batman
3. Titans
4. Scarecrow. We all got trauma so he's a no go
5. Bane
6. Hugo said the one man he's afraid of is the Beard Hunter
7. Canary
8. The League of Assassins are staying on this godamn list. Although, I wouldn't mind meeting Tahlia/;/(4/:/:;/

Static tried to stop me from continuing that
9. Johnathon Constantinether
10. Blackfire she scares the shit out of me
11. Deathstroke
12. Ezra Miller- THE FLASH
13. Reverse Flash
14. Aquaman and his shark controlling powers. I refuse to fight them again
15. Deathstroke
16. The sinister singing Sinestro
17. The Stroker
18. Hawkman and Hawkwoman, none of us know what the fuck their backstory is
19. Court of Owls. Strange seems to slightly know what I'm talking about
20. Jesus. Maybe he'll finally have the guts to finish what he started
21. Homelander
22. Jason Todd/school shooter
23. I have a feeling I should never meet Harley again
24. HIVE
25. Deadpool

"Y'know although I don't get your decision for putting certain people on here, I feel proud of this list for some reason? Is it just me? It can't be just me"

You looked on as Static continued to talk and reread the list.
Your told them to make the list so you all knew who to avoid at all costs, but in actuality you had multiple reasons for doing this.

'#1 Being the tension that I felt between Static and Hugo. Hugo is detached from normal society and Static is a very social guy. They don't mix together well and something like this where their thoughts can clash but in a positive way should help them loosen up a bit towards each other'

'#2 This list was necessary'

'And #3.........I needed to make Static let his guard down'

You were behind him now. You turned your head to Strange, who had ended up on the couch during your guys's discussion, who looked at you with realization dawning in his eyes.

"Static"

"Yeah"

The Hero turned around, confused at the sudden shift in atmosphere.

"What's up?"
"What's your favour"

You needed to know now.

"My favour?"
"Strange promised you that you could request a favour from us no matter how big. From saving a cat in a tree to killing Darkseid if I remember correctly. So what do you need from us that you betrayed your own team to be able to ask"
.....
.....
.....
"It's two favours"

You flinched at his response. "How so?"

"I saved your life at that rooftop, and I saved it again by retrieving blood for you. 2 favours. I don't want to use this but if I have to I will"

It was for this very reason you asked this question. You already knew this world was DC, but you also knew that this world had differences. An example being the Static you knew would've never used saving a life as a bargaining chip. Adding this, you didn't know what he'd ask.

"And what are these favours of yours?"

Static looked down, his face scrunched up slightly as he entered a thinking stance.

"Ah, I have it"

He snapped his fingers, a bit of electricity sparking as he did so.

"I won't tell you about the second favour since that can wait, but I do have the first one"

'I should calm down. Maybe I was worried for nothing. Maybe whatever he's asking won't be that b'-

"Let's restore the Black Zone"

'Fuck'

Trying to recreate an old chapter with no reference is way harder than I thought. Also all the comments, the original new list, and stuff at the end are gone. Damn.
