Medicinas gym was overflowing with new and diverse faces from far and wide as new dimension of health appeal had taken toll on the Mass in a planet where sons and daughters of Adam kept their gamble with life at a deadly balance. Driven by greatest good for the greatest number principle, Medicinas had made a mark as a saving agent for the people he considered dear in the quest for emancipation of Okuro, Mu empire, county, country, South Lake, West Lake, Africa in entirety and globally. His selection criteria was above reproach and he enlisted the vulnerable willing to be drivers for change and make impact in their lives. He met a team made us of former detainees led by Chunye and his comrade Square.

Medicinas: The first step to recovery is positivity and I'm gland you've adjusted despite the challenging environment we live in.

Chunye: Master, excuse me.

Medicinas: You're excused. What's the matter?

Chunye: You've be talking about thinking positive, living positive and everything positive, you've even saying we've adopted the same. Would you take us through some basic?

Square: Yes Master. We need tips to cope and adapt. I think broader spectrum would suffice.

Medicinas: That's why have called you here. Coping isn't enough. You need to live in full. Positive psychology studies optimal human functioning .

Chunye: What is the goal of positive psychology?

Square: And how's traditional medicine related to positivity?

Medicinas: The first question: The goal of positive psychology is to better understand and apply those factors that help individuals and communities thrive and flourish. To the second question the root of any therapy is making lives of people more productive and fulfilling and identifying and developing talents. As much as I use herbal medicine my main focus is Positive Psychology Therapy (PPT)

Square: Why do I have a feeling that PPT cannot work in our case?

Chunye: I feel my situation needs action.  Why do I feel PPT is inclined to naivety?

Medicinas: Psychological theories and concepts are universally proven approaches. If it worked somewhere, it must actually work here. Second concern about naivety is mis-judgement of inner will . We're calling self to action as well as broadening the vision based on inspiration of humanistic psychologists to focus upon human strengths and potential. There is no yardstick against that in the world of success. Building strengths and the best things life has to offer , managing weakness and repairing the worst things, like what happened to you. Is there a task nobler than that?

Square: What's the relationship between disease and injury and PPT?

Chunye: Sure do the two have a Cross junction because we've been admitting even severely sick?

Medicinas: PPT in my case who's directly working with clients is helping me assist them to overcome pathology. Unlike others I don't stop there: I help them to navigate to the most fulfilling lives possible. Any illness including mental health is amenable to change and improvements. People are their strengths and weaknesses . The study of pathology and use of findings from research while emphasizing the crucial role of incorporating information about what works for people and what factors protect people from pathology.

Chunye: What makes PPT different from counseling psychology?

Square: Isn't it the same wine in a new bottle?

Madicinas: Both fields are strength-based but PPT goes beyond a strength-based stance to defined theories, constructs, models and interventions that can be utilized in the process of bringing that philosophical stance to the forefront in the therapy room. PPT is therefore a positive extension of humanistic roots.

Madicinas espoused the core principles of Positive Psychology Theory. Starting with wellbeing he expounded that wellbeing is the presence of assets, strengths and positive attributes and absence of malfunctions, disease, disorders or problems —presence of something positive and absence of negative. He went further to explain types of wellbeing: Emotional, Psychological, Social and subjective wellbeing. The degree of of positive feelings experienced by one's perception of life constitutes emotional wellbeing. It consists of one's perception of declared happiness and satisfaction with life and the ratio positive to negative affect experienced. Emotional wellbeing adds life satisfaction component which represents a long-term assessment of one's life.  When one realizes his human potential in terms autonomy and personal growth that refers to psychological wellbeing while when he or she realizes his potential  in terms of social interaction and social contribution that's social wellbeing. Those high in terms of emotional wellbeing feel good about life, whereas those high in psychological and social wellbeing function well in life. Subjective wellbeing (SWB) consists of combination of positive emotions and positive functioning. Hence SWB reports both feeling good and functioning well.

Positive functioning consists of multidimensional constructs of psychological and social wellbeing. Like emotional wellbeing, the focus of psychological wellbeing remains at individual level whereas relations with others and encouragement are the primary foci of social wellbeing.

Psychological wellbeing elements are described from Aristotelian theme eudaimonia which suggests that the highest of all goods achievable by human action is happiness derived from lifelong conduct aimed at self development. Thus many aspects of psychological wellbeing are subsumed in concepts such as self-actualization, full functioning, individualization, maturity and successful resolution of adult development stages and tasks.

Psychological wellbeing can be explained using six dimensional model: Positive evaluations of oneself and one's past life; a sense of continued growth and development as a person; belief that one's life is purposeful and meaningful; the experience of quality relations with others; the capacity to manage effectively one's life and surrounding world and sense of self-determination.

Global life satisfaction is influenced by personality traits and affective dispositions as well as participation in progress towards or satisfaction with goals in various life domains. These values are further mediated by self efficacy, outcome expectations and perceived environmental resources and supports.

Medicinas described how wellbeing could be restored and positive growth realized later through normative model. It Starts with problematic internal state or external variable which affect one's affective state. Subsequently, personality variables combine and behavioral coping strategies, coping self-efficacy and social support and resources influence the resolution of the problem and recovery of life satisfaction.

Medicinas also took Chunye and Square through effective interventions for enhancing wellbeing: Practicing forgiveness; participating in happiness training; keeping gratitude journal: thinking about positive experiences; writing gratitude letters; engaging in productive activities; counting our blessings; reliving events; nurturing relationships and participating in goal setting.

Medina and Taa Square, like a coincidence or fate, we also being lectured on PPT under the theme meaning.

Saldana: What's meaning. Taa, can you try?

Taa: Yes CEO. Meaning refers the extent to which humans comprehend, make sense of or see significance in their lives.

Saldana: Thanks very for that. Madina, any addition to crown it?

Madina: Okay CEO. Just to add that in addition comprehension, there's degree to which humans perceive themselves to have a purpose, mission or overreaching aim in life.

Saldana: Very explicitly and comprehensively put. Meaning in life is created through authentically experiencing the commitment to affirm one's self as having significant relationship and broadly speaking, work. What do you think is your work. Madina?

Madina: (Cheerful) Initially I was security mindful. I knew if not the world, I would be somewhere serving in the military. Things didn't go straight I began contemplating how to keep alive. Now I feel I have renewed the Initial meaning I had. Can't I ?

Saldana: (Smiles ) Of course you can. First before I elaborate how you can do it let me applaud your three step analysis. It has reminded me of my life that took the same twist. But first let me get feedback from Taa. What's your work. How do you make life meaningful?

Taa: Thank you CEO. I think I'm the odd one here in the sense that mine was what I never thought would happen to me. I had not at anytime thought I would be in the forces because I was private and soft. When it came, it brought torture and regrets. When I relocated I became reserved and returned to my initial self just to realize that I had a purpose to achieve through new found meaning. I wanted to be a banker initially.

Saldana: Waaw! It's however three steps!

Madina: Exactly . Three has come out clearly. That's very inspiring!

Saldana: Work therefore has a broader meaning. It is part of creative purpose broader than any particular work. It can also stem from religious beliefs because the essence of religion is the belief that something matters — presumption that life has meaning. How did your respective religions contribute to your understanding of your meaning and purpose?

Taa: Partly a choose bank because of my faith as a Christian. And when problems emerged I felt it was punishment from God.

Saldana: Before I get Medina's viewpoints. Did relatives or friends make you believe that argument was right?

Taa: Largely yes. Some argued I chose a wrong calling judging by my religious standing when I was in school.

Saldana: I don't want us to have one-sided debate. Maybe that's why Madina's hand is up?

Madina: Exactly CEO Saldana. In my case there was justification why I didn't get it. How could a lady think of joining military! Was the argument. So my case was terminated before launching.

Saldana: That point has now come clearer. Many a time we don't know our purpose— what embodies the motivation or passion for chosen goals. Comprehension we talked About it purely the cognitive  perspective which includes perceiving patterns, consistency and significance in experiences. Making sense in life through an identified meaning, involvement in significant goals and purposes and overall belief that life is personally significant. The higher meaning to life correlates with psychological and subjective wellbeing ( SWB) , academics achievement, work adjustment, less cognitive decline, physical health and longevity. Are we together upto that far?

Madina: CEO have a concern. How do you navigate your way back into your purpose or meaning after hurtful distractions?

Taa: Same concern CEO. Suppose you were not around. How would I and my husband made it to optimum utilization of our potential?

Saldana: Good concerns. That's why we're opening up a society so that what we know aren't just the concerns of management. There's a lot of knowledge going to waste in the boardroom that should be benefiting a future banker in migingo island and shores of Sagaja and west. IDG program is massive with the bigger Community in mind. Are we together?

Madina: CEO if understood you clearly is that there's a lot the businesses should be doing than making profit?

Saldana: Individuals, including children also have similar responsibility. Business Corporations depend on conscience of a people to propel growth in information age. IDG program is in the net anybody can access it but not everyone is curious, that's where we step in to enlighten the community through synergized workforce.

Taa: I can exactly relate what you're saying CEO.

Saldana: Before I give you time to do so let me take you through what is called Benefit Finding. What is benefit finding in the context of finding the purpose and meaning of your life?

Taa: I think it's see both sides of every situation.

Saldana: Good idea. Madina would you try?

Madina: I consider it be tapping valuable lessons from bad experiences faced.

Saldana: You're both correct. Benefit Finding is an intervention in which a person finds valuable meaning from experience of catastrophic event. Most people report having benefited from better relationship, increased personal resources, enhanced sense of purpose and spirituality and clarity of life priority. Haven't you noticed that from your peers who went to college when you didn't go, Madina?

Madina: Yes CEO . Majority were from better off families. Ironically some were worse off than me but they made it.

Saldana: The worse off is our concern don't mention it. Taa Square, did such a thing come into play in your life after high school?

Taa: Yes. Infact that part of spirituality and clarity of life priority is about me. I grew being asked what I would like to be. It was like a song and there was flow and order.

Saldana: I like the last part: Flow and order. That is only guaranteed in a perfect scenario where job security is guaranteed and family is functional. How many children come from working class and functional families from the neighborhood?

Madina: Hardly any.

Taa: Barely any.

Saldana: I like your choice of word. But how many will come out openly seeking help. Madina, how many times did you go out begging for charity from relatives and father's friends?

Madina: I didn't. I expected them to know.

Saldana: Taa, assume you were needy, how would you approach it?

Taa: In my society people, particularly children rarely seek help. Even marriages, in some cases were negotiated on their behalf. I would talk to my pastor.

Saldana: From what you got from Muslim community did it unlock the full purpose, Madina?

Madina: Not really. At least it enabled me to live to support a few who depended on me.

Saldana: Good. Which other plans did you have, were they in line with your meaning?

Madina: I wanted to get married but it portended fear than hope, though it was what majority wanted me do.

LAUGHTERS

Saldana: (laughs) Taa. What are laughing?

Taa: (Laughs more)I just admire her genuineness.

Madina: (Laughs too) CEO Saldana I'm telling the truth. Many, especially senior and well-off men made believe my being unmarried tied my fortune.

MORE LAUGHTERS

Taa: Atleast you listened to your conscience!

Saldana: Taa how do you mean?

Taa: You can't proscribe enjoyment to somebody seeking a solution to career problem.

Madina: I don't understand you madam Taa. Tell me in simple language?

Saldana: I understood her so well is that you can't use marriage to solve career problem or vice versa. Did you mean that?

Taa: Exactly. And I would still advice her not to get married.

MORE LAUGHTERS

Madina: I'm not getting married soon!

Taa: Don't even think about it. I'll shoot you in the head.

ROARING LAUGHTERS

Saldana:(Laughs )Order everyone!

Madina: Hahaha!

Taa: CEO I mean it. She must rewrite her life and she will do it even if it means with drops of our blood. We can't abuse the privilege you've given us.

Madina: ( Holding Taa's hands) I assure you before CEO Saldana that I won't mess before you, my seniors.

Saldana:( Shedding tears of joy) You've even scared me out of marriage option the way I'm tired of loneliness.

Taa: (Whispers to Madina) In your case CEO Great Saldana we've only one objection.

Saldana: ( Curious) What is it?

Madina:(humor ) Don't do it behind our back.

Taa: (Humour) We've applied to be allowed to be incharge.

Saldana: (Laugh) I think we need to revisit this talk seriously Eve to Eve. What do you think?

Madina: I second!

Taa: Seconded!

Saldana: (Serious) Finally, as we wind up and from what we've found during our deliberation, facilitating discovery of benefits from hateful and damaging occurrences must be approached with utmost skill without getting greatly misunderstood as a result of ill-timed interventions. Let the person fully comprehended him or herself and the world , having meaningful goals in life, engaging in activities to further goals and making these experiences a central theme in life. Are we in agreement?

Taa: Are you saying saying benefit finding is depends on finding the person first?

Madina: My concern too. Like you're saying we don't take the past for granted?

Saldana: Good concerns. People, even in their most devastated and punctured state have dreams. Helping them finding benefit require multiple interventions such as identifying, exploration through discussion of several significant life choices or dilemma, developing growth oriented narratives based on past successes. Madina, kindly recap before we wind up?

Madina: Thank you CEO. We've looked at PPT, misconceptions and false ideas. We've also discussed core principles of PPT namely wellbeing and meaning. Let me donate my time to Taa. Thanks CEO Great Saldana.

Saldana: Welcome. Taa kindly proceed.

Taa:  The last part was benefit finding which we've said shouldn't be rushed to put aside the initial person. The perspective of the person overrides everything at hand. Thank you CEO Great Saldana.

Saldana: Thank you for your time. The training is still ongoing. Other principles Such as hope, Strengths Theory, Broaden and build theory of positive emotions, positive empathy and leveraging diagnostic label and naming strengths are ongoing in other quarters. We embrace the policy of shared knowledge. Kindly link with colleagues to be appraised. You can as well obtain the soft copy from the website.
