-----Time-skip to when the bebe has already been born because YEET!-----
"Thank you so much! I'll drop him off at your place in a few!" You exclaim, dark bags under your eyes. You slam the phone down(old type of (Minecraft)phone) the moment you have that resolved, and collapse onto the couch. [Son's name = Steve, because why not?!] is still sitting on the floor with his large blocks of wood, just staring at you silently with those big blue eyes of his. It's taken this one a while to start growing his hair in, but now you can see it as a dark brown. The little onesie he is wearing is a bright pink with white flower designs on it... It was the only one you could afford. "Listen," you exhale. "I don't know where you got that look in your eyes, but I can bet that was from your father's side." You point tiredly at the 5 month old. Steve stares a little more, no real emotion in that plump face of his. Then, he sneezes clumsily, almost falling over with how violently he did so. "Aaand, that's my dad's sneeze." You half chuckled.
After a few seconds, you roll off the couch, literally, and continue rolling until you reach the small one. At least Steve isn't like one of those really loud babies who screams a lot. He only does that when it's time for bed. For the next few minutes you tiredly move blocks around with Steve, occasionally trying to teach him how to stack them on top of each other. Finally, you look at the clock on the wall, seeing it is time to get up and move again. It is so close to the end of the day. You just need to do one more thing before you can call the day over.
"Alright, time to go, Stevie." You say, picking up the child. He attempts to squirm out of your arms, whining as he reaches for the blocks on the floor. Quickly you crouch down to pick up one of the smaller blocks for him to hold easily with just one hand, but not small enough for him to choke on. Content, Steve allows you to carry him to his stroller, push him down a couple blocks, and then hand him off to your sister in law, who was kind enough to take him in for the evening. She has been your go-to babysitter, with you having two jobs and a half now. It takes a lot to pay for all those diapers! As nice as Mrs. Magg has been this past almost year now, her limit has been babysitting, since she has no tolorance for diaper changing anyone; not even her own grand children. "Thank you again!" You thank your sister in law, as you quickly rush to the hospital. Inside, there is a small section dedicated to figuring out blood types and DNA. That's where you go.
"Evening, Miss (Y/n)." The doctor greets you when you enter.
"Um, yes. I am here to see the results for Steve. You enter awkwardly. It is obvious you haven't had the time to do anything to make yourself look more presentable. Making yourself look alive was a challenge enough.
"Ah, about that..." The old man dipped his head slightly.
"There, weren't any results.. we're there?" You begin to panic, your hands combing through your hair as your breathing intensifies a little. "Ohhhh, no.. What am I going to do..? I can't- I can't just give up! I at least need to know who it is so I can, you know, justice with the law or something like that!"
"Calm down, mam. Calm down... It isn't, exactly, that." The man made a face you make when you're being pinched.
"Huh?" You looked up at him, clearing the strands of hair out of your face.
"We found some matching DNA, just... It..... belongs to an Immortal." Again, you couldn't believe a thing you were hearing.
"...Pff! Naww.. An Immortal? Really? Those mAgiCaL, inhuman beings, who live in other dimensions with the power to destroy entire mountains if they wanted?! One of those?! Heh, I don't believe it!" Giving up on all things related to the hilarious idea, you take a step back, clapping briefly as you turn to go.
"Now listen, I am not telling you what to believe; I am just relaying the science, and it says your son is half Immortal." By then you were fully turned around and ready to leave, but you stopped, turning slowly to ask one last thing.
"Which Immortal... did they say it was?"
"Herobrine, apparently... Here's the file we have on it, if you want." He offered, holding out a yellow envelope, which probably held only minimal evidence --mostly speculation. You almost turned your back on it. You almost left it. You almost gave up on finding out the truth. But...
You snatched the envelope from the doctor's hands. "Thanks." You said bluntly, and you walked out the door, shutting it behind you. Grumbling all the way back, you arrived to pick up Steve, not in a very positive mood.
"(Y/n)? Are you alright?" Your brother noticed your eyes looked particularly dead inside.
"Yes.. fine. Just... they weren't the results I wanted."
"Ah..." Your brother didn't ask any further questions.
You had hoped the man was just some middle-class citizen -- though you had your fingers crossed for him to be upper-class -- so at the very least you could take him to court, get him arrested, and possibly make some desperately needed money to live on. If not that, then at least you wanted him to pitch-in at some part for his son's expenses! But, now... How can you sue a mistake; or an Immortal if that was the case? How could they have even gotten a hold of an Immortal's DNA anyways?!
So many new thoughts were swirling through your head as you mindlessly got yourself and Steve ready for bed, just so ready to fall asleep and forget some of the world's troubles for once! Finally you had Steve set down in his cradle, and you sat down in the rocking chair next to that with the envelope tormenting your mind on the floor next to you. Other than the bed and chair, there is no other furniture in the room, unless you count the two or three baskets full of baby supplies sitting in a corner.
"Ohhh...." You rubbed your forehead with both hands, through your fingers looking at the depressingly empty room. The only toys you could even afford to buy for Steve were his wooden blocks! "What on earth am I going to do?.." You groan, sliding further down into the chair. The envelope, though not even in view, kept nagging in the forefront of your mind.
Finally, you picked it up and opened the thin envelope up. Inside were just some blurry pictures, and a couple pages full of complicated words and numbers on them. You were too tired to try to decipher the pages of text, so you started with the pictures.
"Alright... Herobrine.. Who in the Nether is Herobrine..?" You half whispered. The first and most blurry picture of them all, taken centuries ago by the looks of it, was your typical bad quality photo of some mythical beast. You almost chuckled at the blurry outline of some dude just standing stiffly way off in the distance, nothing but two glowing white eyes visible of him -- inside some dark forest it appeared. Heh, that's where all the myths come from: dark and spooky forests. You had heard all the Immortals had some kind of glowing eyes; that's how you could tell they were Immortals in the first place (the only exception being Notch)! But... Fully white ones, with no pupils at all?! Hard to believe someone could even exist with eyes like that! You then turned to Steve, who was chewing on his blanket when he realized you were looking at him, and he stared back. "Heh, are your eyes going to start glowing like that now?" You asked the baby sarcastically. He just blinked a few times, then went back to chewing his blanket.
The next picture, though, was actually very recent. It was of a news article taken about a year ago... The very week you don't remember. The picture was also blurry, but you could at least see more than just an outline and some eyes. His outfit looked pretty normal for an Immortal. His pants were a dark Jean blue, and his shirt was cyan. Was he trying to blend in with society? It would be pretty hard to do that with those eyes of his, glowing in that picture as well. Plus, he was standing on the roof, appearing to be surveying the street below. Heh, no wonder his appearance made the news. What you didn't catch right away was how similar his hair looked to Steve's. Of course, there were a lot of people with brown hair, but that with his shade of skin hue being only a little off from Steve's, and you had the absolute basics down right there. You shook your head, refusing any of this as some form of evidence. Almost angry at this news article now, you tossed it to the floor. Right beneath that one was something that caught your attention right away. There were two close up pictures of the man now. You didn't really feel like reading the wordy paragraphs behind them, but one of the pictures was one of Herobrine on a stretcher, and the other looked more like a mug-shot, several stitches and scrapes on the Immortal's face. You stared at the second picture for a while.
"Hey, Steve, if you ever grow up to look like this guy, I'm making you a model!" You laughed, only briefly showing Steve the picture. The pictures did make you a little curious, though. Curious enough to force yourself to read the text, starting with the brief description stuff.
Name: Herobrine
Gender: male
Status: Immortal
Age: unknown
Height: 6'7 (7ft tall Herobrines annoy me)
Blood type: Null303
Aaand, the list went on to name off more things you didn't understand. To the side of that you began reading something that had thankfully been written about the event itself.
It read: ------
Fifteen years ago (written this year -- in the story) a commit came crashing down on earth. When specialists went over to investigate, they found the Immortal Herobrine in terrible condition. He was taken into the nearest hospital immediately, though the hazard he was. When he came to, the Immortal answered very few questions. He stated he had had another "tussle" with Notch in the Aether, and said nothing else about the event. He didn't even answer the questions from one of the nurses regarding him repeating "Heather," while being taken to the hospital, and then later crying after becoming fully conscious.
------
It was only then that you felt a pang in your heart, and the sudden thought that this being might actually be a real person, came to mind. Thuroughly interested, you scanned the remaining pages for any mention of Heather. (If your name is Heather, then...oof)
You almost jumped in your seat when you saw your own face. Aa! Oh, wait, it wasn't your face.. Very similar, but a bit better looking. Your brain immediately wanted to piece the two parts of the puzzle together immediately, but you forced yourself to gather more facts before jumping ahead too far.
Beneath her picture, it read: ------
Heather, the Immortal most known for her love of nature and all things beautiful; is said to have the power of life itself, in some regard, capable of small things such as growing plants instantly, to being able to raise people from the dead.
-Ew, this person sounds nothing like you! You're nice and all.. but not exactly known for being a tree hugger...at all. Anyway~
Though she could revive others, the Immortal, unfortunately, could not revive herself. She was killed in a battle between the two Immortals: Notch and Herobrine, attempting to end the conflict. No one is sure which of the two brothers were responsible for her death, however it is highly likely that both blamed themselves for her death, since both Immortals went into hiding after her death. Neither have yet to show themselves in the Human World, AKA, the Over World.
------
Ah, Notch was a much more recognizable name, but you had no idea he had a brother! After reading the words under that picture, you slid it behind the rest. There really wasn't all that much else but those long pages full of numbers and letters you couldn't force yourself to read even if someone held a sword to your throat!
With a sigh, and a lot of things to think about, you finally stood up, placing the envelope on the rocking chair as you began walking away. Steve knew exactly what you were doing, and his face snapped to a tear filled one within seconds. Hhh, it looked like it was going to be another nearly sleepless ni-
You looked down, realizing you had stepped on that piece of paper you had tossed away. Beside your foot was the picture. That roof he was standing on.. it... looked familiar!? Panic! Quickly, you snatched up your child, ran into the closet in the hallway, and sat huddled with Steve in your lap, you squeezing him tightly. Everything just lined up too well, though you didn't quite know how! Emotions were so annoying, especially when you caught yourself being emotional, but you allowed yourself this moment to break down just a little more. Why all this was happening to you, why all this had happened to you, you had no idea! But the suffocating truth that all this was true slowly set in as your mind mulled over everything you had just read and seen. A few hot tears fell down your face as you shivered in the corner of your closet, holding Steve tightly to your chest.
What were you going to do with this new information? What could you do with this new information?! Find out where Herobrine lives, an Immortal, likely in a completely different dimension, and tell him he needed to help her take care of their child?! Surely, that wouldn't work! Oohhh...
Honestly... how could it get any worse?
(*speed running this book so it doesn't end up sitting there unfinished like the rest of them!* 4/25/21 let's goooo!)
