Dear Ella,
God, even that sounded really cheesy. Like, do we ever really think about the fact that when we write or read that we're actually saying dearest?
Gee, I'm getting off to a great start.
It's been a while. I've been meaning to reach out for a while now but wasn't sure if I should. But then I got a sign.
My cousin is actually getting married soon and the wedding is in New York City where, to the best of my knowledge, you live. Or at least you were living there when we last spoke.
You always told me you liked the idea of exchanging letters and hated that it was a tradition that had faded away with the introduction of phones and social media. I think we were watching Letters to Juliet in my bed when you said that.
So, I thought, what better way to reach out to you than to write a letter like they did in the books and movies you used to love. I can't pull off wearing a long coat and walking through a foggy field but I can attempt to do this. Sorry if my writing is horrible and incredibly cheesy— I'm a man of tools so words aren't my expertise like they always were for you.
I really do hope you're still writing and in love with the English language like you used to be. I don't think I've ever seen anyone get more invested in writing an essay.
Anyways, look I miss you and I hate the way everything ended because I lost more than a girlfriend when everything ended so quickly. I lost a friend too.
I'll be coming for the wedding this summer and I hope that we can see each other. I would love to catch up and see how you've been.
I hope to see you soon,
Sam
Stay tuned . . .
