I can see Jess' head ease forward out of the kitchen more now with a wry grin on her face, thankfully out of view from Lexi, as she enjoys her insider knowledge and tries to hear more of the conversation.

"Giddy? I was just with a friend." I answer as covertly as I can. I never exactly had as much experience lying to a parent like Lexi has had so I need to try my best to convince her.

"Oh yeah? Which friend of yours is giving you hickeys?" she asks accusingly, pointing towards the right side of my neck. Crap! I'm going to kill him. I can't believe he actually gave me a freaking hickey, if Lexi is to be believed. "Because I know that all your friends were here on your birthday and the only single males that were there were Damon and Theo and we both know that it's neither of them."

I almost choke on my own saliva at the mention of Theo.

"How do you know it wasn't them?" Jess interjects from where she still stands in the kitchen, sipping her tea quite literally. Of course she decides to involve herself now.

As Lexi looks in her direction, I shoot her a glare for keeping this conversation going any longer than it should. She's playing with fire right now.

"Well, she told me that she wasn't feeling it with Damon and shut things down. And I know nothing would ever happen with Theo." she clarifies dismissively with a shrug.

"Right, well let's just leave it at that. Just a bruise." I declare as I lift myself off of the edge of the couch and make my way to my bedroom. "I'm going for a shower and to bed. I'll see you both in the morning."

"This isn't over!" calls out Lexi from her temporary bed.

Nothing would ever happen with Theo.

But something did happen and up until moments ago all I could think about was if, or when, something more would happen. Now all I can think about is that all my suspicions about Lexi not being okay with whatever I was feeling about Theo are confirmed.

However, I tell myself that it's okay. At the end of the day, if Lexi never knows about it and nothing ever advances between Theo and I then what is there to feel bad about. Right?
