Viktor found himself rushing in the early morning, trying to get stuff together for his new guest. He hurried to the store and got some bedding and clothes for Dima and then went to his condo to put the stuff together.
When he arrived though, he found his friend Chris there, passed out on his couch.
"CHRIS!" Viktor yelled, feeling anxious, "Get up. I need you to leave. Someone's coming over."
Chris moaned in his sleep and turned on his side but didn't do anything else.
Viktor sighed and got his phone out and put on an alarm app on the highest volume, blasting it in his living room.
Chris yelped and fell off the couch, "What the hell, Vik?"
"I said, I'm getting ready for someone to come over. You need to leave or at least help me clean up this mess."
Viktor had a nice condo from his job as a figure skater but he constantly left it a mess with all the friends he had over. Right now, there were beer bottles and unopened condoms all over from Chris, most likely.
"Who is coming over that is sooooo important?" Chris whined, still a little drunk.
"It's uh... A long story." Viktor began to grab bottles and threw them out.
Chris was curious now though, "Oh yeah? A date? Girl or boy this time, baby?"
Viktor rolled his eyes and then shot a glare at Chris, "Go the fuck home, Chris. This is important and not what you think it is."
"Then what is it? I ain't leaving till you tell me!" Chris whined, throwing his hands up in the air and then staggering backwards a bit.
Viktor groaned, "Fine, I'll tell you but you have to help me clean up." He tossed Chris a garbage bag and the both of them began cleaning.
During this time, Viktor explained the situation and how he was taking the stranger in.
"So, you found a cute boy and came to the rescue? Sounds very prince-like of you, Vikky." Chris teased.
Viktor cleaned up the last of the bottles and then went over to the door where he put the bags of clothes down. He then went into the spare bedroom and began hanging up most of the clothes except for one outfit. He would bring that outfit with him to the hospital for Dima.
Chris followed Viktor into the room then, leaning against the door frame, "Seriously though, is this safe?"
Viktor shrugged, "I think so. He looks like a puppy, really. I don't think he could harm a fly."
"Yeah, but what if he is lying about not knowing who he is? What if he's going to take all your shit?" He says as he gestures to all the things in the spare bedroom which consisted of a large armchair in the shape of a banana and a huge pink standing mirror.
"It's not all shit. And let me remind you that YOU were the one who decorated."
Chris laughed, "Yeah, can't believe I got your drunk ass to agree to that one."
Viktor rolled his eyes, "Shut up," He said as he finished up, "I need you to leave now."
"What? No way! I gotta meet this guy!"
Viktor walked up to Chris, trying to get pass the doorway but Chris stayed put, "No, you are not. He has been through a lot and he needs rest, not you messing with him."
"Okay, fine, fair enough, but what about that get together you're supposed to have tonight? Me, Yurio, and Otabek?"
"Dammit!" Viktor yelled and pushed past Chris, "Uh, you gotta tell them that that's not happening tonight and to NOT come over."
"Why can't you do it?" Chris pouted.
Viktor grabbed a bag and put the change of clothes into it, "Because I'm kinda busy. And leaving now, so go."
And with that, both Viktor and Chris left.
On his way to the hospital, Viktor tried to put Chris's voice to the back of his mind. He didn't think Dima was lying or going to steal his stuff but of course, his anxiety was starting to get the better of him.
Though, he tried to push this thought as far back to his mind as he could, especially as he approached the hospital.
When he arrived, he grabbed the bag of clothes and headed up to the room. When he arrived, he knocked on the door, hearing the man say he could enter and then stepped inside.
Viktor remembered what the other man looked like but it was seeing those eyes again that made his heart flutter a bit.
"You're back! Great. They said I could leave soon. They're trying to figure out what to do with my paperwork since I um, don't know who I am." Dima looked down at his feet that were hanging off the bed.
"Oh, okay. Uh, here." Viktor handed him the bag of clothes and watched at DIma opened it.
"Oh! Thank you. They said they were going to give me some clothes from a charity place, though. I hope you didn't buy a whole wardrobe." Dima chuckled.
Viktor felt nervous, standing by the door with his hands in his pocket. He was being reminded that he was running on low sleep. He had been up the last forty-eight hours and most of those hours was spent skating
"I, uh, sorta did. You don't want that clothes anyway. New is better, I think." Viktor said and tried to look anywhere but at Dima despite his constant want to.
Dima shrugged, "Oh, I don't know. It wouldn't have been too bad. But thank you. I don't know how I'll ever repay you for all this." He looked up at Viktor and gave his best smile which seemed to make Viktor's heart skip a beat.
"Don't worry about it, please. I just want to help you and help you find out who you are. Did they find out anything else?" Viktor entered the room fully now and sat in the chair in front of Dima.
Dima shook his head, "No, they haven't and I'm not sure what I should do to try and help."
"I'm sure they'll tell us what we can do."
"We... Thank you, Viktor, so much." It looked like Dima was blushing now but Viktor couldn't quite tell.
Right then, a nurse came in with some paperwork which she gave to Dima, though she didn't call him that. They were still calling him Mr. Doe.
When they were done with the paperwork, they gave the men the okay to go home. Viktor left the room long enough for Dima to change and then he came out of the room when he was done.
Dima was wearing a light blue sweater and some jeans with a nice bomber jacket over it.
"I hope you like the clothes. I kinda had to guess your size but looks like I got that right." Viktor said as he looked Dima up and down, now having an excuse to actually check the other man out. And he must admit, he liked what he saw.
"It's all lovely. Thank you. Should we... Go now?" He asked, gesturing to the door.
Viktor nodded, "Yeah, let's go."
The two walked out of the hospital and then to Viktor's car which was a nice Lada Logo. When they got into the car, Dima shivered and Viktor turned on the heat quickly. "Sorry, it's going to be cold here for a while. Winter's hell in Russia," Viktor chuckled.
"It's okay. I'm sure it's no better where I'm from. If we figure that out for sure." Dima relaxed in his seat but he still seemed a little tense around the stranger.
"We'll figure it out soon, I promise." Viktor gave him a reassuring smile before putting the car in drive and heading to his condo.
It was a quick drive so the two didn't have a lot of time to talk, not that either one of them was talkative at the moment, both feeling rather awkward.
When they arrived, Dima got a good look at the outside, a nice white condo with long glass windows on most of the front. Viktor walked him inside and that's when Dima got a real clue on how well off Viktor is.
In the front room, there was a large flatscreen on the front wall with a nice leather couch in front of it, along with many gaming counsels. Behind the living room, there was the kitchen which wasn't too big but was nice, with marble stone everywhere and black appliances. On the right to the room was the most interesting thing, a built in Jacuzzi tub on top of a dark wood platform.
"Wow..." Dima said, looking everywhere, stepping inside with curiosity.
"Yeah, um, I know it's a lot but my friends mostly use the place. I just stay in my bedroom most of the time. Or I'm at the rink." Viktor stood idly by the door as Dima looked away.
"Rink?" Dima asked, in the kitchen now.
"Oh yeah. I'm an ice skater. I forgot I never told you."
"Oh wow, that's amazing!" Dima said with enthusiasm, "I don't know why but... Ice skating. Just seems familiar to me. Like maybe it was a hobby I had."
Viktor was excited now, walking over to the other man, "Really? We need to take you to the rink then! We can see if it brings back anything!"
Dima chuckled, turning to Viktor who looked like a little boy, finding out he was about to get a present, "Not right now. I'm very tired. And from the bags under your eyes, so are you..."
Viktor frowned but then smiled a little, "You're right. We both have had a long night... Especially you. Let me show you to your room."
They both walked to the back of the condo now, where the rooms were. Viktor's room was right in front of Dima's with a bathroom on the right of Viktor's room. They walked into the room where Dima would be staying.
"I know it's not a large room, and ignore the horrible furniture, my friend redid it all while I was drunk and out of town." Dima giggled at the banana couch that sat in front of his bed. "I put all your clothes in the wardrobe, your pj's in the bottom drawers and there's a toothbrush for you in the bathroom, it's the green one," Viktor explained, turning to Dima now and before he knew it, Dima was hugging him and crying on his shoulder.
"Hey... Are you okay?" Viktor asked, hugging him back.
The other man sniffled and nodded his head, "Yes... I'm just... Scared. Not knowing who I am. It terrifies me. But you're being so sweet to me when you don't have to. Thank you so much." He looked at Viktor now, his brown eyes red and puffy from crying.
Viktor chuckled and held Dima's chin up with his hand, "Don't thank me. Not until we figure out who you are. Right now, this home is just as much yours as it is mine. You belong here." Something in Viktor's and Dima's hearts fluttered at those words but neither said a thing.
"I should let you get some sleep now. I'll be in the room across from yours. Just call if you need anything." Viktor said and with a smile, he left.
Dima looked around the room one more time before grabbing his pj's (which were made of a silk material and probably far too expensive but he had a feeling Viktor didn't worry about those things) and headed to bed, falling asleep almost right away, dreaming about silver hair and blue-green eyes.
