The ominous air about made Mae tense. The black cloths and the crying faces. Clinging to her sister who gave her a frown.

No girl deserves the fate handed to her. The words of prayer being muttered seemed to go together as her tears began to form once more. 'Why?' She thought.

The pity look that seemed to fall onto her, made her pain worsen inside. "Mae, Haruhi." A women stepped up to them kneeling on her one leg.

Haruhi was the only one to looked somewhat descent and still responded with the nod of her head. Mae burrowed her head into Haruhi black dress.

"I know your fathers been drinking a lot more then usual, you two have to take care of each other from now on, okay?"

Maes bottom lip quivered as she nodded a small but along with Haruhi. "Such...good girls." She whimpered seeing the tears form on her own face.

"Thank you ma'am." Haruhi muttered as the women wept her way outside.

They were too young to go through such an event. About 7or 8. They waited for their father to come outside. So alone.

"Haru?" Young Mae whispered.

"Yes Mae."

"Why did momma have to die?"

Haruhi took Maes shoulders with both hands and made her face her. "Mae, mamma was more needed up in heaven."

Mae looked up as Haruhi pointed up to the sky. It was somewhat cloudy but the small section had a bit of light peaking out. "Haru, can't we share momma?"

"No Mae, momma has to help out others now. We'll see her again some day though, but that's a long time from now."

Mae sniffled and looked up once more. "Does momma love us?"

"Yes Mae, very much. She's at peace watching over us from up their."

Mae smiled at her sister. "Thank you Haru." She sniffled then clung onto her even more then before.

"Girl." Their father came down the hill. He carried a picture of their mother. His eyes were tear stained but he tried to put up a good front for them. Haruhi gave him one of her small smiles as she grabbed his hand and began leading him the way home.

Once they were back at home their father set the picture on a table. He lowered his head as he plumped down on the ground. He glanced at her photo then stood up quickly. "I'm going to the bar." He was gone.

Mae stared at the door with remorse. They were alone, without their caring mother.

"Haru?" Mae began to tear up again.

"Mae." Haruhi slowly wiped her tears away. "Mom taught us to be independent which we will. I'll be momma from now on."

Mae frowned at her sister. "But Haru-"

"Come on Mae won't you cook with me?"

Mae fiddled with her fingers. "I-I don't think so Haru." She sniffled out.

"Mae?"

Mae looked over at the picture. She scratched her face up as she tried to hold back tears. "I'm'a big girl."

Haruhi's face softened. "Mae I'll make something you can pick up the beer bottles dad left."

Mae saluted her and gave an awkward smile. "Yes."

When the house was somewhat clean and they was some rice balls and noddles on the table they were ready to eat. Till their father came clambering in. At the sight of the house he looked at the two girls.

Mae grinned at him. "Papa come sit with."

His face was still in shock as Haruhi got up and took out a bowl and rice ball for him. He sat down next to Mae and looked at both of them.

"Papa I cleaned the house!" Mae tugged on his dirty suit. "Haru cooked!"

He looked over at his youngest. Although Mae was older by about 6 minutes Haruhi always seemed to be more mature. He also knew it was Haruhi's idea not Maes. He nodded at Haruhi who smiled at him.

Mae began picking at her food and mostly devouring it. Ranka smiled at his two girls as they both began talking about cleaning the house. Then he saw the picture of his wife was put on a nicer table with flowers. The stinging tears that came down his face bothered Mae. She didn't want to cry once again today.

Mae stood up and hugged him. Haruhi soon got up and joined her. Although the reek of alcohol made both of them sick they continued her going him. Little did they know that was the moment he decided to change. He wanted his daughters to have a women. So he'd do just that.

Mae fell asleep that night lying in front of the tv. Ranka looked at Haruhi as she began cleaning up the plates. "Thank you Haruhi."

Haruhi smiled at him. "It's okay dad."

He began to tear up again. "I'm sorry."

Haruhi slowly walked over to him and hugged him. She wasn't one to hug but she knew waking Mae up would turn into an angry fit.

"Was Mae okay today?"

Haruhi nodded. "She doesn't like funerals."

"I don't either."

"I think Mae depended on mom too much."

"We all did. We just have to make sure your sister can become the flower she is."

"How?"

"Teach her to smile more without her mother."

"What about the bullies at school?" Haruhi looked down sadly.

"She'll get through it. It'll make her a stronger person in the end. I just want to see that smile all the time. Your sister has a beautiful smile. Just like you, but hers it only seems natural to see her as the sun."

"But Mae cries all the time."

"She's expressing her feelings."

Haruhi looked to her feet. "Mae worries to much."

"With love people can do great things." Her father smiled at her before getting up and doing the dishes.

Mae but her lip as she heard the end of their conversation. Although she was just a kid. She wanted to make them proud, show them just how strong she could be, but yet she knew deep down that it was a hard thing to do. She wanted to be like Haru.

The next morning Mad and Haruhi sat at the table eating breakfast as their father walked out wearing a skirt and dress top. His face was covered in bright make up. Maes mouth fell open as well as Haruhi's.

"Well?" He spun around for them.

Mae giggled at him and hugged his legs. While Haruhi stared at him.

"I got to get to work now, toodle'lo."

"He wasn't kidding."Haruhi sighed.

"Haruhi did dad drink too much beer."

"I don't know."

'Beep Beep.' Mae looked around frantically. Where was he? Who is this stranger. "Nurse!" Mae ran to a nurse who was walking in. "Where's Takashi?"

The women looked frightened. "I don't know."

"What do you mean you don't know!"

"This is Kei turners room. He was in a car accident."

Maes face paled. "Today?"

"Yes."

She looked at the man. At a good glance she could see it was indeed the man who hit Mori. "Where's the boy he hit?"

"The women thought a moment. "Down the hall to the left."

"Thank you!" Maes gasped as she ran as quick as she could. Once att he door she jumped in to see the large boy she cared for. He was completely out. She cried a bit at the sight of him. His neck was in a cast and looked like he'd be in great pain if he were awake.

A nurse came in. "Oh are you his girlfriend?"

Mae blushed. "N-no I'm a friend."

"Oh...okay." She didn't seem to believe her but nodded.

"Miss is he going to be okay?"

"Should be. Since the car was that big he should recover."

Mae let out a breathe she didn't know she was holding. All of a sudden beepers started going off though.

Mae began panicking. "What happening?"

The calmness the nurse had before was gone. She quickly pressed a button on the wall and in no time a doctor was there. He rushed to to the machines. "A blood arterie in his brain is collapsing. We must start surgery now."

Mae looked at them feeling panicked take over her. 'It's my fault. I'm bad luck to Takashi.' Mae git pushed out as they started seeking Mori out of the room. She fell to the ground. "It's my fault." She whispered. Ranaka came running round the corner.

"Mae?!" He picked her up. "What happened?"

"I killed him."

"Mae?"

"I ruin everything!"

"Mae dear."

"I probably killed mom too."

"That's enough!" He set he down in her hospital bed. "My daughter is not some evil jinx. It's just one bad day out of all the days in your life."

"The why do I have several bad days out of my life."

"Some people haven't much worse." He scolded and she seems to feel guilty. People like Remi who feel like don't even have a family to go back too. Or even Yuri who has to do everything her parents order. Mae still had her sister, and even her goofy father.

"I'm sorry." Mae bowed her head. "I just I-"

"The Mae I know is inside of you would be trying to prepare for a recovering patient. Not a funeral."

Mae looked up at her dad. "Why am I always crying?"

"Your just-"

"Showing my feelings? I feel likes cry baby, I lose hope easily."

"Maybe it's just the other half of you and you need the other complete it."

Mae looked up at him. He was always one to tell her about love stories. Mae had lost hope in them after watching all the divorces in America and even death.

"I-I-" Mae thought back to the first time she did cosplay with the hosts. The jacket that fell on her lap. She then realized she liked Mori much longer then she thought. He was always there, she wasn't ready to give up on him always being there for her. She needed to fight for him. After all there can't be love to begin with if your not prepared to do a 5k and make first place. Mori was too precious to her to lose. There was no way she was giving up now. "Thank you Dad!" Mae quickly hugged him.

"W-where are you going?"

"To my home." She smiled and began racing down to the exit of the hospital.

"Her home?" Her dad muttered wondering what she meant.

"What?!" Tamaki shouted as Kyoya sat before them all.

"Is Mae okay?" Haruhi looked worried.

Kyoya had just gotten a call from the hospital. "Apparently she ran out of the hospital."

Honey was curled up to his knees as his eyes were glazed over. The twins looked sad as well. Yuri closed her eyes shut tight.

"Guy!" They heard a voice.

"Mae?" Haruhi whispered. They all turned to the door to see a breathless Mae. "We can't give up. Takashi, he he's going to make it. I know now. I mean look at him. He's really tall and he he's." Mae began blushing. "Any way I think we should gather up some things for when he gets back."

They all stared at her in silence. They a seemed to be wondering if she was on some kind of gas. The first react was Honey. He slowly slid off the couch and walked over to Mar with his head hung low.

The he looked up at her with a smile. "We can make a cake for him!"
