"Evie?" My mum says as I stare at the man. "Can you go to the dining room?"
Sami walks out and stops and stares at the man too. Okay, now we're both just watching the poor guy.
"Girls? Go already." Mum says.
Distantly I walk into the dining room and sit down in my chair with Sami beside me. She looks at me, her eyes wide with shock.
"Th-hat was..." She whispers.
"I know." I say.
"The news..."
"U-huh."
"Did you know?"
"Nope."
Mum walks in with the man and they sit at the end of the fairly long table. Mum's holding a pile of papers and also a folder. What's going on?
The man is focused on the paper but keeps looking at me. Only briefly, but once for a few seconds longer and I saw something sad in his eyes.
"Mum, what's going on?" I ask.

She looks up at me and glances to Sami. The man looks at me and answers instead.
"Hello Evie. This must seem weird to you, but-"
"I asked my mother." I say.
He winces and mum takes over.
"Honey, this is very hard to explain. The news I said this morning, well, it's serious." She pauses before continuing. "Evie, you're adopted. I've raised you from birth since... since the accident and now your biological father wants you back."
I sit in silence. I have nothing to say, this feels to much like a dream.
The best friend that Sami is, she says the one thing that's been pestering me. "Why after all these years?"
"I was still trying to find out who I was," the man answers. "I have now and I want to make things right between me and... m-my daughter." He finishes looking at me, attempting a smile.
"I guess I want that," I say, looking at Sami who grins at me. "Yeah, I know I want that."
The man's smile widens. "That's amazing, I'm G-"
"Oh, I know who you are." I say and Sami nods in agreement.
"Y-you do?"
Sami and me exchange a look.
"Gerard Arthur Way!" We scream and then collapse laughing our heads off.
"Fangirls." Gerard shakes his head with a laugh as well.
