***"Daddy!" My daughters voice boomed as I walked into the room. Her small little body and face resembling similar to Valery's came running straight into my arms.

"I missed you" I smiled as I kissed my daughters head and hugged her tightly.

"I missed you too" she grinned with her small teeth on display.

"Have you been a good girl for mommy?" I ask and she nodded.

Just then my beautiful wife waddled in with her swollen stomach, almost out of breath. "Hi" I smiled as I set my daughter down to hug my wife.

I wrapped my arms around her as much as I could but with a huge bump in the way it was hard. "How have you been feeling my beautiful wife?" I asked as I placed a kiss on her lips.

"Hardly feeling beautiful" she huffed.

"You look so beautiful as always" I say and she smiled.

"Your baby is giving me a hard time" she says and my hands stroked her large bump.

"Only a few more weeks" I say and she sighed.

"Max! Max!" My daughter shouted as she walked over and placed a kiss on her mother's stomach.

"She's already give the baby a name" Valery laughed and I smiled.

"What if you have a little sister? We can't name her max" I laughed and she shook her head as she repeated 'max' several times.

Valery disappeared into the kitchen and I sat with my daughter in my lap as I stroked her hair.

"Daddy can I ask you a question?" She asks and I smiled.

"Yes sweetie" I smiled at her.

"Why didn't you take care of me? Do you not love me?" She asked catching me off guard before suddenly everything disappeared***

"Shawn! Shawn!" My name was repeated before my eyes snapped opened to see Don and the doctor standing there.

"It was just a dream" Don spoke as I sat up and wiped the sweat off my forehead.

I bursted into tears as my face rested in my hands and Don patted my back but it wasn't working at all.

"Shawn it's okay. You're okay" he spoke and I shook my head as I took deep breaths.

I was handed a cup of water to drink to calm myself down. I took a few deep breaths as I composed myself. "Can I be left alone for a few minutes?" I pleaded and they left the room.

I took a deep breath before my shaky hand picked up the picture beside me. I stared again at the ultrasound and my heart hurting as I looked at it.

"I love you a lot. I am sorry that daddy couldn't take care of you otherwise I promise I would have treated you like the princess or prince you deserve to be. I am so sorry that I couldn't save you my baby. But I love you" I spoke to the image as I placed a kiss on it.

My tears still streaming down my cheeks as I took deep painful breaths. My heart heavy with pain and unable to control my emotions.

A knock made me look up before Don's head popped through. "Val's awake and she's asking for you" he said and I nodded as I wiped my eyes.

I have to be strong for Valery.

I wiped my eyes and washed my face with cold water in the bathroom before Don helped me to Valery's room.

It's been a few days and since then she's been laying there without an oxygen mask on her face this time but a plastic tube in her nose.

"I missed you" she smiled as I walked in and I took a deep breath before smiling.

"I missed not sleeping next you last night" I spoke as I leaned down to place a kiss on her lips.

"Have you had breakfast?" She asks and I shook my head.

"Eat something Shawn. They forced me to have hospital breakfast which was nasty" she says as she scrunched up her nose and I laughed.

"I will eat a little later don't worry" I assured her as I held her hand.

"How are you feeling?" She asks as her delicate hand slowly touch the side of my face.

"I'm fine, but how are you with that battle wound on your rib?" I say and she sighed looking down.

"I seen it while they were cleaning it and it's gross, there so many scars on my ribcage and one on my stomach. So gross" she says and I shook my head.

One on her stomach.

"Those scars represent strength because you have been extremely strong" I say and she smiled.

"Well you too" She said as she pointed at my bruised face.

"Not as strong as you" I say as I squeezed her hand.

"How is my family?" She asks quietly.

"They're okay getting treated but I haven't seen them yet" I say and she nodded.

"Do you think I can see them?" She asks and I shook my head.

"You are not leaving this room until the doctor signs you off" I say and she laughed.

"I'm fine" she argued and I shook my head.

"Nope"

"But-"

"No buts"

"No butts for you either and I mean literally" she says and I gasped before letting out a chuckle.

"I can't to leave this hospital, I really hate hospitals they are no fun. I feel so terrible for the people who spend a lot of time here" she says and I nodded.

"I agree, I can't wait to get out of here too" I say and she sighed.

"I want to be back in my comfy bed with you, can't you lay next to me?" She asks and I shook my head.

"I might hurt you and moving too much is not going to be good" I say and she huffed.

"Please shawn?" She frowns looking up at me with her lips pouted.

"I can't but you know I would"

"Please?"

"I'm sorry babe"

"Pretty please?"

"I really can't"

"Then get out" she says pointing towards the door.

"You make my life so difficult" I groaned as I stood up and she giggled. I pulled up the blanket and she shuffled up slightly as she made some space for me, I sighed before laying into the space.

Her body rested into mine and it felt like forever since I've properly held her in my arms. "Are you happy now? Getting everything your way" I say.

"Very happy" She hummed.

"How are you honestly feeling?" I asked her as my finger traced her leg.

"I'm shaken up and scared but our lives are this crazy" she spoke and I sighed.

"You'll be okay, I promise I'm always going to be here" I say and she smiled.

"I love you" she said and my heart fluttered.

"I love you more" I grinned.

"You know, In the last few moments I though we were going to die and I thought I would never be able to say those words again" she says and pain struck my chest.

"I'm so sorry Valery, I really am. I never wanted any of this to happen ever. I promised to keep you safe and happy and I couldn't even do that" I spoke in defeat.

"You better shut the fuck up. Shawn you do everything to keep me happy and and safe. I always feel happy and safe and love when I'm with you, none of this was your fault, dumbass" she says and I laughed.

"And she's back" I say and she grinned.

I brushed the strands of hair out of her face before my thumb traced over her soft lip. I held her face gently in my hands before placing a soft kiss on to her lips, her lips curved into a smile as we pulled away.

I loved seeing her smiled but I knew it was going to be gone very soon.

"Oh beautiful!" Don cried dramatically as he walked in making us laugh before he came around and took a seat.

"Thank you Don so much. I really am so thankful because we wouldn't be here today without your help. What can we do to repay you" she spoke sincerely.

Don spoke to her about his upcoming wedding as he showed Valery pictures of his fiancée and plans he had. Valery was so interested which kept her distracted.

She had her beautiful smile on her lips as she looked at Don's phone.

I pray whatever come out way now just heals quickly...
