'Cause when I'm with him
I am thinking of you
Thinking of you
What you would do if
You were the one
Who was spending the night
Oh I wish that I
Was looking into your eyes
...
You're the best
And yes I do regret
How I could let myself
Let you go
Now, now the lesson's learned
I touched it I was burned
Oh I think you should know
...
'Cause when I'm with him
I am thinking of you
Thinking of you
What you would do if
You were the one
Who was spending the night
Oh I wish that I
Was looking into your eyes
Looking into your eyes
Looking into your eyes
Oh won't you walk through
And bust in the door
And take me away
Oh no more mistakes
'Cause in your eyes I'd like to stay... stay.
Thinking Of You- Katy Perry

A week had passed since Caitlin had heard the news about Barry's accident and as far as she knew he could be dead or alive. The lack of communication between her and Central City caused a lack of updates of Barry's condition which made Caitlin on edge at all times.
What felt even worse was that she was forced to spend all her free time with Hunter. He'd been heavily flirting with her ever since she returned to New York. It felt so wrong to be spending time with another guy when the one she loved was in a hospital bed. But she had no choice.
"Cait..." Hunter started but was quickly interrupted by Caitlin telling him to not call her that. Only Barry called her Cait. "Okay, Caitlin. You look beautiful today,"
Caitlin rolled her eyes and looked, feeling ill even looking at him.
"You know, you really need to get over this Barry guy. You walk around wearing a promise ring and a locket with your initials on even though you can never be together, what's the point? You have to marry me. You might as well try and let yourself fall for me. It'll make the rest of our lives so much easier," Hunter snapped, angering her beyond belief.
"The point is that I'm in love with Barry and he's in love with me. I want to marry Barry hence why I accepted his marriage proposal. I'd rather die than marry you. Barry will wake up from his coma and as soon as I get out of this hellhole of a city we are going to get married and go to college and we'll be happy. No matter what I will never marry you. You can try to flirt with me all you want but it's not going to work. I belong to Barry and no one else. Especially you," Caitlin argued.
"Why are you so obstinate?" Hunter asked, a little impressed by her resilience.
"Because that's what love does to you. Perhaps, if Barry and I never met then I would've been fine with marrying you because I never believed in real love until we met until he made me believe by making me fall in love with him. There's someone out there for everyone, including you. But, it's not me. And when you meet that girl you'll be just as determined as I am to be with her because you will fall in love with her. We both know that there's nothing between us. Don't let your parents be the ones to ruin your chance with that girl," Caitlin explained.
"How can you be sure?" Hunter asked.
"Because I just know. Me and Barry are meant to be. My friends Eddie and Iris are meant to be. So many other couples are meant to be. They are proof that it exists. You just have to look. You never know, the perfect girl could be right there and you just have to go out there into the world and find her. But settling for me is not the way to find her," Caitlin replied.
"I think you are right," he agreed, to an extent that he understood the position she was currently in and how it must hurt. "But our parents..." he started.
"If we are both unwilling to go through with this stupid relationship then they can't force us. It's not the eighteenth century anymore," Caitlin interrupted.
"Thank you. You've actually been a great help. I'm going to go and speak to my parents. See whether we can sort this whole mess out. Perhaps it might help you with your own predicament," he stated before rushing off home.
...
Hours passed and Caitlin found herself staring at the ceiling, thinking about Barry and how she wished that he was with her. Convincing Hunter to help her was a small distraction but speaking of Barry made her miss him so. Convincing another that they should go out into the wide world and find the love of their life felt awful while she was losing hers.
She was no longer in control of her own life and everything was spiraling out of proportion, leaving her dazed and confused and so lost. And the only person who could bring everything back into focus wasn't just far away in distance.
Although she had no confirmation, Caitlin knew that Barry wasn't dead. She knew that she would feel it in her heart if he slipped away into death. Although she was in pain right now she knew the pain of his death would be far worse, as if she was the one who had died rather than him.
She was snapped out of her daydream at the sound of raised voices, specifically the voices of her two parents. Quietly, she sneaked out of her room and watched from the staircase to eavesdrop on their argument.
"I can't believe that you did that, Carla!" Thomas Snow shouted.
"I did what had to be done!" Carla argued.
"You bribed the police. That's a crime for God's sake! You bribed the police to ignore you abusing our daughter!" Thomas yelled, sounding disgusted as he spoke the words.
"Exactly, I did what needed to be done!" Carla screamed.
"Who are you?" Thomas questioned, genuinely contemplating whether this was the same woman that he had fallen in love with and married. "You are not my wife. You are not the beautiful girl I was smitten with in college. The girl that I married. The girl that gave birth to our beautiful daughter. You are a shell of who you used to be Carla,"
Without replying, Carla ran up the stairs, luckily not spotting Caitlin, packed her bags and left before driving away.
"Dad?" Caitlin sighed breathlessly after watching the heated exchange before her.
"Caitlin. I am sorry, I didn't want you to see that or hear that" he replied. "Wait, pack your bags we leaving too,"
"Why?" Caitlin asked, not sure why they would be leaving seeing as Carla had just left herself so they wouldn't have any reason to leave.
"We are going to Central City. I'm taking you to see Barry," he replied, leaving Caitlin breathless. That was the last thing she was expecting him to say.
After waking from her trance, Caitlin rushed around her room packing up all of her things as quickly as she could, making sure to pack every last thing. Something told her that she would never be coming back
And for the second time in the last two weeks, she found herself back on the plane to Central City. And after checking into a local hotel she and her father made their way to the hospital.
After asking where they could find Nora and Henry Allen, who she knew wouldn't leave the hospital while their son was here.
"Caitlin?" Nora questioned when she saw her, wondering whether her lack of sleep was causing her to hallucinate.
"Carla... she walked out on us only a few hours ago so I brought her here. They deserve to see each other," Thomas spoke for her, knowing she was a little too emotional to speak right now.
"He's in there," Nora stated, gesturing to the room they were standing outside of.
"Um, before I go in. I just wanted to know, what caused his accident?" Caitlin asked, wondering if it could be her fault that he was in this condition.
"I don't think he had been very well since you left. We think that he went for a drive to clear his head. But no, it's not your fault. The driver who caused it has been arrested for hit and run and drunk driving. His trial is next week," Nora replied, quickly hugging Caitlin to comfort her. She knew that she would be in a bad way but did not expect for her to blame the accident on herself.
Taking a deep breath, Caitlin slowly walked into his hospital room and tears started to fall from her already red raw eyes from crying nonstop for the last few days. Her shaky hands went to cup her mouth in shock as they muffled the sound of her sobs.
"Oh, Barry," she breathed out, not knowing what else to say...
