'Do you realise who you're talking to, sir?' Adelaide says, glaring at the head knight, Sir Ernest.

'It would certainly... odd for another lady ruler to come after we just had one,' he murmers.

'And what's that supposed to mean, Ernest? Do you believe my daughter should merely sit there and watch her brother take her crown?'

'You are obviously upset, m'lady-'

'Do not "M'lady" me after you walk in here expecting my permission for an impossible order'

But Sir Ernest did not dare look at the Lady of Driftmark, but looked at her husband. She scoffed.

'Leave, Ernest. Me and Addy will discuss this.'

'If you think for one second I'm going to let-'

'I don't, Addy. Sir Ernest is being unreasonable. I will find the end of this soon, I promise' Lucerys says as he walks closer to Adelaide and kisses her hands.

'If you don't, I'm sure my dragon will' She whispers.

'I'm sure'

'Mother?' Questioned a young Marilla.

'Yes dear?' Lady Adelaide said, barely above a whisper.

It was late at night, and she was finishing up a dress for Marilla's first ball. As Marilla was only a few years of age, she would wait until she could marry. But an early proposal should not hurt...

'Is it true? I will not be a lady of this house?'

Adelaide stopped, dumbfounded. How could she know?

'My darling' She began.'Whatever you heard was a small argument with a very strange man. He does not realise he serves me as well as your father. I will sort this out and not stop until a title is put on your name.

Miss Mari believed her mother more than anyone, but she did not specify which title.

She felt sick to her stomach as she thought of marriage. Of children. Of ruling.

And Adelaide could see this.

'Mari, let me tell you a story:
When I was just a few years older than you, I was pressed into a marriage with a small, scruffy boy. And he turned out to be the love of my life and your father. Although some matches end up... poorly, I will never accept a man's hand for you unless I knew he was the one.'

'Swear?' Mari said, sounding on the verge of tears.

'Swear' her mother smiled back, hugging her tightly.

'Now go back to bed, you have a very busy day tomorrow' Adelaide points out, kissing her young daughters head gently.

'Goodnight mother'

☆Swear☆Marriage☆Love of my life☆

That was all Mari thought about until her rest.
