Thomas X Reader
It's been a year and the memory of the dreamcatcher was still the only progress that Thomas made.
(Y/N) only has a little hope inside of her that Thomas will remember. She was also scared that he might leave her. She could see that he seemed unhappy. They were friends now and they would talk but it wasn't the same as before.
(Y/N) wanted to kiss him, but that was one thing she couldn't do. She knows that if she does, she will get hurt and Thomas will be gone forever.
Now, as she and Thomas were eating their breakfast together, there was mail for the both of them. (Y/N) opened it and saw that it was an invitation to a ball in the palace. Since Thomas's family was a rich one and well known one with the Royal Family, he was invited to balls.
"Thomas," she called out to him. "We're invited to the Winter Ball that's in a fortnight. Do you want to go?"
"I do," he replied.
The clock suddenly chimed and Thomas stood up from his seat.
"I'm heading off to the tailor for a new suit for the ball." He walked up to her and gently kissed her forehead. "Bye."
"Bye," (Y/N) said weakly.
Thomas has been quite occupied lately, (Y/N) noticed. He seemed happier. She has no idea where he's going or what he's doing but she's glad that he's happy. But every time he leaves, she always felt sadness overcome her ten times more than before.
Even if she knows that Thomas is a respectable man, you can't force something that isn't there. If he still hasn't gotten his memories and he still hasn't fallen for her like before, there could be a chance he's fallen for someone else. She knows that she can't have him forever if that's not what he wanted.
No one is happy if they're not free.
(Y/N) felt a tear drop on her cheek. She quickly wiped it away before anyone could see. She's shed enough tears this year.
She stood up from her seat and was headed off to her room until she saw Rosa, the laundry woman. She was carrying some of Thomas's clothes.
"Excuse me, are you bringing them up in Thomas's room?" She asked her.
"Yes ma'am," she replied.
"Let me," she offered. "I'm headed up there anyways."
She did as she said and gave her the basket of Thomas's clothes. (Y/N) felt as if she was trespassing at the thought of coming inside Thomas's room but she told herself that she shouldn't feel this way.
When she was inside, she we towards his wardrobe and placed his clothes. She took one of his shirts and took one whiff of it before packing it away. It smelled just like him.
After a few minutes, she was done and was about to leave but a draft from the open window made a piece of paper fly towards her. She picked it up and had no intention of reading whatever was in the note but she saw a sentence that made her intrigued, "I don't love her."
(Y/N) couldn't help herself this time and started to read the letter. She saw that this was a page ripped off Thomas's journal.
It's been months and I still don't bloody remember anything. I'm beginning to doubt if she's truly saying the truth or if she's lying.
I feel sorry for her, but I'm giving it one more try.
Sadly, I don't love her.
After reading the letter, (Y/N) gently placed the paper back on the desk and closed the window. Then when she shut the door of Thomas's room, all she could do was break down and cry.
-
Two weeks have passed and (Y/N) didn't mention the note for one second. She wanted to talk to Thomas, to ask if he's happy, but she never had the chance to. He's always leaving the house while she just stayed inside or went to her walks.
It was now the night of the ball. (Y/N) was wearing a beautiful tube ball gown that brought out her eyes and is perfect for her skin tone. The gown perfectly hugged all of her curves. She also wore diamond dangling earrings that Thomas gave to her as a birthday gift, on their third year of dating.
(Y/N) sighed as she touched the earrings with her gloved hand. She then blinked the tears away when she heard someone knocking on her door.
"Come in," she said.
She saw Thomas walking inside, looking really handsome in his suit. He was as handsome as the first time she saw him in a Winter's Ball years ago.
"You look beautiful."
(Y/N) blushed but she almost cried because he sounded so genuine.
"Thank you. You look dashing as well," she complimented him.
(Y/N) reached out to the diamond necklace which was part of the set that Thomas gave her along with the earrings.
"Let me help you with that."
Thomas walked over to her. He took the bracelet and placed it on (Y/N)'s neck. She inwardly shivered when she felt Thomas's fingertips graze the back of her neck. But then (Y/N) noticed that Thomas didn't have his wedding ring tonight.
"Are you ready?" Thomas asked when the necklace was securely shut.
"Yeah. You can go first to the limousine with Dylan."
"Okay," Thomas nodded.
When he was out of her room, (Y/N) took a deep breath so that she won't start to cry. She stared at her golden wedding ring and remembered the vows that both she and Thomas shared on their wedding day. But he wasn't the same Thomas then. Swallowing a lump in her throat, (Y/N) took off her wedding ring and placed it on her vanity table.
She left her room and went to Thomas who was waiting for her by the doors, outside the limousine. He opened the door for her and gently guided her inside, but he noticed that she wasn't wearing her wedding ring.
-
The limousine was now by the gates of the palace. Neither Thomas or (Y/N) talked to each other on the way there. All (Y/N) could think of was that she should try to have fun.
When they got off the limousine, Thomas offered to her his arm and she took it. She grasped it tightly as they walked up the palace steps. She didn't want to let him go, but she knew that he has to. She looked at him and saw that his eyes were wandering around the palace.
"Are you looking for someone?" She asked him.
"No," he said. But she could tell that he was lying.
They were now introduced as The Sangsters. A lot of eyes were on them since Thomas's accident was well known. (Y/N) felt exposed and vulnerable with hundreds of pairs of eyes on her, but Thomas was too occupied looking for someone.
They were surrounded by people who were asking about Thomas's wellbeing. Thomas remembered some of them but he was thankful that (Y/N) was there because she was guiding him along the way. (Y/N) liked it as well. It showed her that Thomas still needed her.
After a while, the crowd dispersed. Thomas was now with some of his old friends that (Y/N) knew she could trust to not fool him. While she's with some of her friends, mainly the Princess herself, Princess Katherine. Thomas wasn't the only one with Royal acquaintances. (Y/N) was actually good friends with the Princess.
"You're not wearing your wedding ring," Katherine observed.
(Y/N) shrugged like it was put a big deal but she felt more exposed than before. When Katherine saw that she wasn't going to reply, she grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her ferociously.
"WHY??"
It took a couple of seconds for (Y/N) to regain control again. "It's no big deal," she shrugged.
"Yes it is a bloody big deal!" Katherine pulled the both of them away from the gossiping crowd. "You and Thomas were my favorite and canon real life ship! What country do I have to conquer for you to be together again?"
"You don't have to conquer anything," (Y/N) chuckled.
"Oh bloody hell," Katherine gasped.
"What?"
(Y/N) turned around and saw that Thomas was dancing with his ex girlfriend, Isabella Mellings. The sight broke her heart. It meant nothing to her before, but her relationship with Thomas isn't stable now. Did they even have a relationship?
"Turn around, this isn't good for you," Katherine turned (Y/N) around. "Dance with someone," she whispered to her ear.
"Pardon?"
"I don't want my best friend to be sad, although I'm a little disappointed you never called me about this but I won't hold that against you." (Y/N) smiled despite the tears that were threatening to fall.
Katherine dragged (Y/N) halfway across the ballroom but (Y/N) didn't mind the distraction. They stopped when they were met with a handsome young man.
"(Y/N) this is my good friend Dominic Sherwood," she introduced them. "Dominic, this is (Y/N) Sangster."
"Pleased to meet you Mrs. Sangster," Dominic smiled at (Y/N) and gently kissed the back of her hand.
"Dominic would you like to dance with (Y/N)?" Katherine asked.
"I think that Mrs. Sangster is not supposed to be set up because she's married Kat," Dominic chuckled.
"I'm not trying to set you up. I'm trying to get her husband jealous."
Dominic slyly looked over at Thomas who was still dancing with Isabella. "I'll do it," he accepted. "(Y/N), would you like to dance with me this evening?"
"I'd love to."
Hand in hand, they danced with the group. Katherine watched as (Y/N) and Dominic danced with each other. They were now conversing with each other which was good. She knows that nothing will happen between them since they're both in love.
Katherine then saw Thomas and Isabella. He didn't see (Y/N) and Dominic yet, but things didn't look too well with the both of them. She walked to the other side of the room and eavesdropped on their conversation.
"Thomas please," Isabella pleaded. "You don't really remember me?"
"Isabella no. I just wanted for us to part ways in a civilized manner."
Isabella didn't seem as if she was going to give up. "Not even a little bit?"
"He can't even remember his wife!" Katherine spoke up. "Why don't you stop trying to get a married man and shoo?"
Isabella was shocked that the Princess just scolded her with a little audience. She was completely embarrassed and ran away.
"Nice," Katherine smiled. "I didn't really need to conquer a country. Dance with me Sangster."
Thomas was still shocked with what Katherine said but he began to dance with her.
"Thank you. I've been trying to shake her off for so long."
"Anything to keep my ship alive," Katherine replied.
"And what you said isn't true. I do remember (Y/N)."
Katherine's eyes widened. "NO BLOODY WAY!!" She exclaimed. Her voice was so loud that the entire room looked at her. "Sorry," she laughed. "I want an explanation Sangster and I bloody want it now," she hissed.
