πππ πππππ π πππ ππ πππ sky, their silhouettes visible from the ground thanks to the colour of the light blue sky and white clouds. A soft breeze travelled across the courtyard, cooling down everyone who was affected by the Sun's heat. Waiters and hostesses' walked around the courtyard with trays in their hands, offering refreshments and snacks to every person they see. Fake smiles were on their faces as they approached royals and other important people in the kingdom, hoping to make a statement and be seen by the rich.
Y/N was sitting on the grass, her legs in front of her, crossed. She watched her friends continue the croquet match that started around two hours ago. Carlos eventually got bored of the game and started running around, Dude chasing him while on his leach, making the white-haired boy laugh. Y/N placed her arms behind her, leaning against her hands as she basked in the sunlight. A content smile rested on her face, her eyes shut, shielding them from the Sun's rays.
She didn't mind that the king and queen had asked her to stop playing the game after she managed to hit a nobleman in the head with one of the balls. Genie didn't really help her case as he started laughing, profusely. Tears came to his eyes as Lord Macintosh started arguing with Genie, only making the Guardian laugh even harder. All while this was happening, Shang and Mulan watched from the sidelines, smirks on their faces as they watched the chaos unravel. They knew that if their son were here, he'd be trying to contain his laughter as he stood beside Genie or Y/N, watching everything.
The E/C-eyed girl was grateful that Belle and Beast prohibited her from playing for a few rounds; it allowed her some time to think and enjoy what could be her final moments in modern Auradon. Everything was going by too fast for her liking. She wanted to stay here. She was actually enjoying her time here and she hated that. Y/N knew that it'd be better for everyone if they'd just follow through with the plan and take over the world. She was excited to get rid of some of the rich snobs, of course, but killing and torturing them might've not been the best answer to said problem.
Footsteps approaching her gained her attention, but she decided to keep her eyes closed, hoping that the person walking towards her would get the hint and turn around. She took a deep breath, allowing the fresh air to fill her nostrils as a content smile appeared on her face. The person walking towards her finally stopped as a grunting noise escaped their lips, along with the cracking sound of the joints.
"Oh, that bottle really did a number on my joints..." Genie mumbled, rubbing his knees as he sat down next to Y/N.
Y/N smiled, her eyes still closed. "You're just old."
"Hey, just because I'm, like, over ten thousands-years-old doesn't mean I'm old."
Y/N chuckled, her shoulders shaking, slightly. The silence returned as the pair sat in the grass together, enjoying the company. Genie looked at the girl, a small frown appearing on his face. He knew something was bothering her. He figured it was just because of the circumstance they were in; they were surrounded by annoying people and those cuffs clearly weren't helping, either.
He licked his lips and allowed himself to lay on the grass, finding strange comfort in it. "You wanna talk about anything?"
The curly-haired man didn't want to intrude and he didn't want the girl to feel like he was forcing her to tell him his deepest darkest secrets. However, ever since the video call with Chernabog and the rest of his little gang of miscreants something has just felt off about Y/N and all the other transfer kids. A tenseβwell, tenser than usualβatmosphere followed them around wherever they went. They all seemed tired and would jump at every little sound. The adults on the other side of the video didn't comfort him with the way they were acting.
He constantly wondered what Chernabog would've said if he didn't end the video call. He knew that the Devil was, most likely, going to say something threatening to Y/N regarding something that he didn't know of and it irritated him. He felt just as powerless as he did then. Once again, Chernabog was taunting him, bragging about something and he couldn't do anything to stop him. He was the Guardien of Auradon for Zeus' sake. He was Auradon's first line of defence and, yet, here he was, sitting next to a conflicted girl and he couldn't do a single thing to help her.
"Not really." Y/N shrugged. "It's just some personal stuff I have to deal with once I get to the Isle." She sat up straight, her back slightly hunched due to her bad back posture and looked over at her Genie. "They wanna go back to their parents, again, so I figured that I'd tag along."
Genie stared up at the sky, not capable of responding. He knew that he didn't have any control over Y/N's decisions; he wasn't her father or anyone important like that. The only thing he got to dictate was anything that happened while Y/N was in his classroom. So, when it came down to it, he couldn't stop her from leaving Auradon and returning back to the Isle.
The man stood up from his spot and dusted off his pants, making sure there wasn't any grass or dirt stuck to him. "Well, if you ever want to return home, I'm just a thought away."
Before Y/N could ask him what he meant by that, Genie was gone; the only thing left in his place were those stupid blue sparkles. Y/N sat up straight and looked around the courtyard, trying to find where he possibly could have gone. She hated it whenever he did that. Say something out of pocket or weird and then immediately teleport away across the castle or back in his room.
Y/N groaned. "Alrighty then," she mumbled before trying to relax again, but of course, the universe decided that she didn't even deserve that.
"You!" An annoying female voice echoed through the courtyard, catching everyone's attention.
Just by the pitch of the voice, Y/N could tell that they were one of those privileged royals of a kingdom long forgotten after Auradon was created. She looked across the courtyard to see Mal standing across from Audrey and a distressed-looking old lady. The purple-haired girl's mouth was moving, which meant that Mal was either trying to diffuse the situation or was just adding fuel to the fire.
"I sense a Demon brawl..." she mumbled before pushing herself up and walking towards Mal.
Ben joined his girlfriend's side. "Queen Leah, it's okay. Maleficent is still on the island." Ben wrapped an arm around Mal, bringing her close to him before shaking her slightly. "This is her daughter, Mal." Ben looked back at the older queen. "Don't you remember my proclamation to give the new generation a chance?"
Y/N stood behind Mal, her arms crossed against her chest as she watched Chad take his side behind Audrey. The girl started glaring at the blonde-haired boy as Jay took his place beside her.
"What's going on?" The thief asked as he wrapped one of his arms around Y/N's shoulders.
Y/N shrugged, keeping her eyes on Chad to make sure he didn't try anything. "No idea. I just got here."
The people in the surrounding area started to crowd around them, wanting to know what was going on. It was in human nature to be curious about certain things going on around you, but not everyone always has the same motivation behind it. Some people could be concerned for the old queen; her health isn't the greatest due to her old age and they were just making sure she didn't strain herself too much while other people were just being noisy prudes, desperately wanting to know other people's business.
"A chance to what, Ben?" Queen Leah asked, her eyes looking over at the purple-haired girl beside him.
Y/N and Chad continued they're staring, neither of them backing down. Chad was the epitome of a blobfish: Ugly, a bottom feeder and nobody likes it. The blonde prince puffed out his chest and held his head high, trying to intimidate the girl standing in front of her. She merely chuckled at his antics before flashing her eyes yellow, a grin plastered on her face. The boy in front of her cowered away, but before she could celebrate her victory, the distressed queen in front of her started screaming.
"Devil! It's the Devil!" Queen Leah backed away from the girl, quickly grabbing hold of her granddaughter's arm. "What is it doing here!?"
Queen Leah turned to face Audrey, mumbling something to the brown-haired girl... probably asking for a crucifix. A frown appeared on Y/N's face as she watched the pair. There were too many witnesses around and, besides, even if she wanted to do something about the woman's attitude she couldn't because of the gifts she received from the king on her first day.
Y/N took a step toward the old woman. "Your Majesty, I'm just hereβ"
"I don't care why you're here!" Leah yelled, her face tensing up as she faced the girl. "You shouldn't have been chosen to come here! Out of all those monsters on that horrible islandβ" Leah looked at Ben "βAnd you chose the daughter of the Devil! Having it here is outrageous. Itβit's despicable, Ben!"
Y/N frowned as she listened to the old woman's words. "We..." She took a deep breath as her eyes managed to meet the queen. "We're not monsters."
"Come on," Leah continued, ignoring the E/C-eyed girl in front of her. "You remember, don't you?" She turned around to face Fairy Godmother who took her place behind the queen moments ago. "The poison apples, the demons, the spells..." Leah trailed off, seeming to have a flashback of the earlier days in Auradon before the barrier was placed and the villains were banished away. "Spellsβ" she looked at Mal "βmy daughter was raised by fairies because of your mother's curse."
Y/N frowned as she listened to the queen's speech. Something that she's noticed since they arrived here was the fact that they often got blamed for their parent's mistakes. When Chernabog did something wrong Y/N was the one who took the blame and the same thing went for Mal when it came to her mother. It was all stupid and unfair; they judged them not because they themselves did it, but because of the blood that was running through their veins.
Where was Genie when you needed him?
"So, her first words, her first steps. I missed it all!" Leah yelled, turning to Fairy Godmother, seeking comfort from the woman. "The second Guardian. She's gone because of that thing's father. Genie couldn't protect us for months after, leaving us vulnerable..." Tears filled the queen's eyes. "We mustn't trust them."
Mal frowned, feeling sorry for the woman. She took a step towards Leah. "I'm so soβ"
"Go away! Stay away from her!" Chad cut her off, stepping in front of the purple-haired girl, protecting the queen.
Y/N watched the princeβher eyes flashing yellowβas she took a step forward, warning the blond-haired in front of her. "Watch it."
"Don't do this, Chad." Ben sighed, not in the mood to prevent a fight.
"What? They were raised by their parents, Ben. What do you think villains teach their kids? Huh?" Chad leaned against his croquet stick. "Kindness? Fair play? No way, okay, Uh-uh." Chad turned towards Y/N, his head leaning towards her as if she were trying to intimidate her. "This one probably learns different kinds of torture methods."
Y/N started breathing heavily as she stood before the prince, her eyes flickering from E/C to yellow as she continued glaring at him. She wanted to say something to defend herself and her friends, but she knew it was only going to make the situation worse. They were the bad guys in this situation, people expected them to lose, so if they wanted to walk out of there with minimal damage she had to be smart about the things she'll do.
Chad had that privilege. He could run his mouth all he wanted and he wouldn't have to face any form of consequences because they were villains and he was a hero according to their heritage and blood. However, Y/N had something that Chad did not: Braincells. Over the years, she became an expert at head games and she knew exactly how to play. He wasn't going to get her to lash out. He was going to make her madβand, according to her father, anger was the most beautiful expression a monster could have on their faceβbut he wasn't going to get a reaction from her, no matter what.
Besides, she could always make him suffer in the future.
Chad turned back to Mal and pointed a finger at her. "You stole another girl's boyfriend."
"Hey, hey!" Ben pulled Mal away from Chad, defending her.
Chad stepped aside before pointing at Jay. "You enjoy hurting people in order to defend that thing over there."
Jay glared at the boy, remembering their first encounter on the tourney field. Chad had insulted Y/N in front of him and he wasn't about to let that slide. She was the most precious treasure in the tomb, the most beautiful gem on the crown. He would defend her and her honour with his life, no matter the cost and he didn't care how many teeth he had to knock out from spoiled princes in order to keep her safe.
Chad looked at Evie. "You're a gold digger."
"At least she can count to ten without having to use her fingers," Y/N mumbled, rolling her eyes.
Chad looked towards her, his ears perking as a small smile formed on his face. "Hm? What was that, Monster?"
Y/N froze at the nickname. It wasn't something that wasn't used to hearing, but every time she did hear it someone ended up hurt and it was usually the person who said it. Y/N looked over at Jay and shook her head, telling him that she could handle herself, the situation and the prince, who was throwing a temper tantrum.
Chad scoffed and walked towards Y/N, looking her up and down in disgust. He stood in front of her, only a few centimetres between them. "You're the worse of them all," he sneered, "You're nothing but a freak of nature that nobody wants around. The daughter of the Devil and a whoβ"
Before Chad at the chance to finish his sentence, the sound of skin slapping against skin echoed through the quiet courtyard. The prince's face was turned to the side as a red hand mark settled upon his cheek. Y/N's body had been turned to the side slightly, her hand still floating in the air, slightly. Her eyes were a bright yellow and her chest was raising and falling at a rapid pace. Her jaw was clenched and it was becoming sore, but she didn't care.
"Never speak about my mother that way; you didn't even know her," she sneered, tears threatening to fall from her eyes, but she quickly wiped them away without anyone noticing.
Yeah, so that whole plan she had at the beginning was thrown out the window and she didn't really care too much about it. The moment you bring her mother up in a disgusting manner you're gonna wish you never opened your mouth in the first place.
Chad touched his cheek, hissing slightly due to the over-exaggerated pain. "You littleβ"
The blonde-haired boy pushed Y/N down to the ground with both his hands. Y/N grunted as she collided with the floor, banging her head on the grass, but she didn't care. She went to stand up to defend herself but before she could, Jay was already standing in front of the prince, his hand gripping the spoiled brat's collar.
The thief lifted him up from the floor, slightly, forcing the prince to stand on his toes. "What did I tell you about hurting her?" Jay shook him, slightly. "Back off, Chad. All right? Back off!"
Everyone who was watching the quarrel quickly stepped in when they noticed that the prince's well-being was being threatened. They tried their best to pry Jay off of the blond, but nothing was working; his grip was too tight. Voices and screaming filled the area, causing Y/N to slowly stand up from her spot to watch the fight.
She watched as people put their hands on her friends, pulling them away.
"Stop it," she mumbled, but couldn't move.
She watched as a pair of grown adults grabbed Jay's arms and forcefully pulled Jay off of Chad before forcing the thief to the ground and wanting the boy to calm down.
"Stop it." Her voice came out slightly stronger this time.
She watched as they finally allowed Jay to stand again. The boy scoffed and pulled his arm away from one of the lords holding him down. He turned his back on the nobles and started to walk away, completely unaware of the prince who was walking up to him with a frown on his face, looking as if he were ready to punch the thief in front of him.
Y/N eyes widened as everything seemed to go in slow motion. A burning sensation travelled through her veins as she watched Chad approach Jay. Every cell in her body was screaming in pain as a yellow glow emanated from her veins, almost as if it were trying to force itself out of her body no matter the cost. The burning sensation only seemed to grow the closer the strange yellow substance approached her hands. She felt like scratching out her veins, her skin, anything just to make the pain go away. The colour started fading from her veins and the palms of her hands started burning, almost as if they were on fire, but that was impossible. She didn't understand how she was doing this, but, right now, she didn't care. This was a way she could protect Jay and her friends from everyone and it was the only weapon she had.
Her body seemed to know what it was doing, almost as if it were second nature. Her palms started glowing a bright yellow, matching the colour of her eyes. Yellow smoke surrounded her hands and the running sensation came to a stop.
Fire. Trust your instinct. Trust me.
A female voice echoed in her head. She's never heard of it before in her life, but something about it was soothing and familiar, in a way. Y/N did as she said; she allowed her body to take control.
"I said: Stop it!"
A yellow energy blast escaped the palm of her hand and started barreling toward Chad. Y/N watched in horror as the ball flew toward the prince, hitting him square in the chest. Chad let out a grunt as he stumbled back a few passes. He brought his hand up to his chest before looking in front of him.
"Mommy?" He mumbled before passing out on the floor due to fright, but the people around him didn't see it like that.
Y/N cupped her mouth, a small gasp escaping her lips as she watched the prince fall to the ground. Her eyes and hands stopped glowing as she kept her attention devoted to the injured prince. Before the girl had any time to process what had happened, the people in the court started shouting.
"Monster!"
"She's just like her father!"
Queen Leah grabbed hold of Ben's shoulders, forcing him to look at her. "You've doomed us all, Ben. You must get her back to that island." Leah looked at the girl, a fearful expression on her face. "She's dangerous."
Y/N looked down at her hands, every muscle in her was shaking as her breathing seemed to have quickened. She couldn't hear anything around her, it was all happening too fast. She couldn't breathe. Her lips and mouth went try as she started rubbing her hands against the clothing on her upper body, trying to wipe away the feeling of her unknown powers. The pain she felt still lingered in her mind, almost as if it were still happening.
She looked up at the people who were surrounding her, staring at her with fear and hatred in their eyes. She watched as their mouths opened and closed like they were
