A small smile appeared on his face as he took small glances at Y/N from over his shoulder, noticing her confused demeanour. His grasp tightened on her hand as he felt a warm sensation travel through him. He felt happy, for some odd reason. Hanging out with the girl he met only four days ago always plastered a smile on his face, no matter what they were doing. It was like she cast a spell on him to always feel happy whenever he saw her face; it was strange.

Y/N looked between the men in front of her, her brows scrunched together in confusion. "I thought I was supposed to be training, right now?"

"Aren't you from the Isle? I thought you liked breaking the rules?" Nakoa smirked as he stopped walking to look at the girl behind him.

Y/N opened her mouth to respond, but nothing came out as she tried coming up with a comeback to his comment. Of course, she loves breaking the rules, no matter what they are and who created them. Hades, even Chernabog's rules didn't even stand a chance against her and Jay, but here, they needed to act like Angels. Rule-breaking wasn't an option, right now. Being sent back to the Isle, right now, wasn't an option for them.

She licked her lips nervously as she looked down at the ground, trying to form a coherent thought. "TouchΓ©." She mentally punched herself as the word left her tongue. Was that seriously the best thing she could come up with?

Genie grinned as he watched the two interact. It was nice watching them become friends. It reminded him of someone he knew and of the relationship he formed with them. He didn't know Y/N, personally, but from what he's seen these past few days was that she was reserved and kept to herself most times. So, seeing her interact with people outside of her friend group made a smile appear on his face. As for Nakoa, he knew that he would rather fight the Hydra than have any form of social interaction and, to be quite frank, the older man couldn't blame him; people could be exhausting sometimes.

"If my memory serves me correctly, which it usually doesn't, there should be a tourney game happening in about an hour." Genie looked down at the watch on his wrist, a slight smirk appearing on his face as he glanced at both teens, waiting for their reactions.

Y/N froze. The words that Genie had just spoken were processing, slowly, in her mind. She started thinking back to a few minutes ago when Jay had asked her a similar question. She wanted to go and she wanted to support him and Carlos, but there was something that was preventing her from moving. She's never really taken into account other peoples' feelings, even when she was little, but something about going outside while another school was there wasn't settling well with her and she couldn't figure out why.

It may have been fear of the way they'll react. Jay was looking forward to this game and she didn't want to ruin it because the other team forfeited. After all, she was present in the stands. Scenario after scenario was running on a loop in her head, making her scrunch her brows together in discomfort. This was all so new to her and she didn't have any time to adjust. Of course, change was always happening around her, but this new environment wasn't really helping her case.

But when did she ever care about any of this?

"I-I don't think that that's a good idea." Y/N chuckled as she pulled her hand away from Nakoa's.

The black-haired boy looked back at her. "What do you mean?"

A small frown had appeared on his face. He wanted Y/N to come to his game; it was his very last tourney game. Naturally, Y/N wasn't aware of this because they were only acquaintances and nothing more and, for some reason, he didn't like that. He wanted to know her. From the smallest little detail of her life to the strangest thing she's ever looked at. He didn't care. Bringing her to the tourney game was a way he could slowly start bringing her into his world and introducing her to some of the things most people in Auradon love. It didn't matter what you looked like or where you were from in Auradon; tourney brought everyone in the kingdom together and that was one of the many reasons why he loves the game.

He still remembers the first game he ever played. He remembered scoring and looking back at his parents' faces. Giant smiles were plastered on both of their faces as he heard them cheering and clapping, celebrating his very first goal. He remembered celebrating, in the locker room, with his team the first victory of the season. Every little detail about that day would be forever engraved into his brain and every time he thought back to it a smile always made itself present on his face, no matter the mood he was in.

That was why he wanted to share this game with Y/N. It was special to him and maybe if she knew something personal about him, she would start becoming comfortable around him and would start hanging out with him. Of course, this was all just fantasy and he knew that he wouldn't be able to date her because he was being sent away in a few days.

"I just don't think it would be a good idea to bring me to a public event with people that aren't from Auradon Prep." Y/N shrugged, fidgeting with her bracelets slightly.

Genie smiled. "Come on. Nothing bad is going to happen, trust me." He held out his hand as he looked at the young girl, a comforting aura emanating from the older man.

Y/N stared at his hand, debating whether she should take it. She looked up at Genie, trying to read him and look for any ill intents behind his eyes. He wasn't hard to read, unlike her father. Genie didn't necessarily wear his emotions on his sleeve, but she could tell that they were genuine and if you looked hard enough you would be able to find them with ease. She glanced over at Nakoa, wanting confirmation if it was a good idea or not.

She was like a child, in that sense. She never had any form of guidance, growing up. She was only alone when it came to making decisions and it sucked, sometimes. When she was little, she would always look towards Jay whenever she couldn't decide on something or if she decided on something, she would look towards him and want his opinion. As she grew older, she slowly grew out of the habit when Chernabog started isolating her from the world. She was forced to make her own decisions and pray that it was the best one to make without any second input and, Hades, did she hate it.

However, this time, she didn't know why she looked over at Nakoa. It might've been a comfort thing or just a force of habit, but she knew her answer this time. Y/N reached for Genie's hand and took it, a small smile appearing on her face as she slowly nodded her head.

A small, soft laugh escaped Genie's lips as all tension seemed to have left his body. "Alright, kid. Time to go raid the kitchen."

Nakoa laughed as he shook his head. "Man, I wish I could come help with that. One of the many things I'm gonna miss about Auradon." Nakoa helped out his hand to the older man who, in response, gave him a crisp high-five, earning a confused look from the girl in front of them.

"We're raiding the kitchen for... what, exactly?" Y/N looked between both boys who only smiled in return.

Genie rubbed his hand together. "One of the greatest inventions of mankind, asides from sliced bread, of course."

"It's Snack Raiding Time, baby," Nakoa cheered as he and Genie started walking towards the kitchen.

...

Y/N watched as Genie ran around the kitchen, looking like a madman. In one hand, was a bag he conjured up as they walked into the kitchen while he used his other hand to grab as many things as he could see before shoving them into the bag. Nakoa had left them a few minutes ago to go change and warm up for his final game, leaving Y/N alone with the strange man. Y/N pressed her lips together as she continued to watch Genie work his magic. She didn't, quite, understand why he was doing this all by hand when he could've just snapped his fingers.

Before Nakoa had left, they barely had explained to her what exactly "Snack Raiding" was and, now, she was just watching Genie, trying to figure out the point of stealing all of this stuff when he could just steal something that has more value then some chips.

"This would go a lot faster if you helped, kid." Genie smirked as he pulled out a family-size chip bag from a cabinet. "My young Padawan." Y/N paused what she was doing as she heard the new nickname that Genie had just given her. "If you see you, you like, you want it, then grab it."

Y/N smiled. "So, I'm stealing food then?"

"Well, no, I wouldn't exactlyβ€”" Genie paused, thinking about what they were doing and what he was about to say. He pressed his lips together in a thin line before shrugging his shoulders. "You know what, yeah, we're stealing."

"Whatever I want?" Y/N repeated.

"Whatever you want, kiddo."

Y/N grinned as the words Genie had just spoken played on a loop in her head. She looked around the kitchen, admiring the space and all the food she was allowed to steal. She went through every cabinet and drawer, grabbing everything that caught her eye. She read the labels of all the candy and snacks she found and everything looked like it could rot your teeth if you didn't brush your teeth after eating them. She created a mess wherever she went in the kitchen, not really caring for it either. She was having fun doing something she loves with the Guardian of Auradon and she wasn't being arrested for it.

Genie watched as Y/N destroyed the kitchen. He knew that this was bad, but he didn't have the heart to tell her that she couldn't trash the place like this. The smile that was on her face was a genuine one and he could tell because he knew someone with the same smile as her. It had been years since he had last seen that smile and he knew that it was contagious. A grin appeared on Genie's face and not even the Gods of Mount Olympus could wipe it off of his face, no matter what they tried. He felt a tear collect at the brim of his eye, but he quickly wiped it away before Y/N could see it.

The alarm on Genie's phone went off, ruining the moment. He quickly pulled it out of his pocket and turned it off. He looked back at Y/N, a girn on his face. "I think it's time we go cheered on the boys." He motioned towards the exit with his eyebrows. "I know two of them who would kill to see you front row."

Y/N chuckled as she shook her head, slightly. "Time to go be obnoxious spectators?"

"Oh, you know it."

...

Jay looked back at the stands, a small frown appearing on his face as he looked for a familiar face. They only started warming up five minutes ago, but he desperately wanted to see her. What Evie had told him made his blood run cold and a shiver travel up his spine. He couldn't like Y/N, she was his best friend. He didn't want to risk what was with what could be. There was so much on the line when he came to telling someone you like them, or at least that's what Evie had told him.

He looked up at the sky, shutting his eyes as he took a deep breath in. He didn't still understand what Y/M met about the air here and how the wind had some sort of magical property to it. He wanted to understand what she met, he wanted to know what all the hype was over the oxygen here in Auradon, but no matter how hard he tried, he just didn't understand what she felt.

That was another thing he was scared of: Being rejected. What if she didn't feel the same way as him and everything he knew burned to the ground? She was the best thing in his life and he knew that, for sure. He could trust her to always have his back and that was the rarest treasure you could ever find on the Isle. Everyone on the Isle only looked out for themself, so, when you found someone loyal you couldn't let go of them, no matter the circumstance. That person was a part of your life and was most likely going to be for the rest of your life.

Jay didn't believe in romantic soulmates, but he did believe in Isle soulmates and that was what Y/N was to him; his Isle soulmate. Isle soulmates were something he came up with as a child when he watched his first friend betray him. He remembered the lecture his father had given him about trusting people and he listened to every word the old man had to offer. He followed his old man's teaching to the very last letter, afraid of being hurt again. He build up walls, as well, to protect himself in case things went South.

But when Chernabog forced him and his father to move into his castle with other villains, a girl with E/C eyes destroyed everything he was ever taught, forever changing his world. The moment he looked at her, he knew that she was special. His walls crumbled to the ground as she said hello to him. He felt his face heat up and his heart beat faster than normal.

He didn't know it at the timeβ€”even as a teen, he wasn't even aware of itβ€”but Y/N managed to steal Jay's most important object that day: His heart.

From that day forth, he would always feel that same sensation whenever he laid eyes upon Y/N and more symptoms kept popping up the longer he hung out with her and the older he got. When he told this all to Evie after the whole crush-or-deal, the only thing that blue-haired girl could do was gush, scream and smile, which the thief couldn't understand why.

"Jay, focus!" Jenkins yelled, gaining the teen's attention. "We play in fifteen minutes. Get your head out of the clouds."

Jay shook his head, trying to make himself focus on the game. "Sorry, Coach."

He ran past the older man who just shook his head slightly as he patted the teen on the back once he ran by him. Jenkins tightened his grip on the clipboard he was holding as he looked over at the green team across the field, afraid of the outcome of the upcoming game. He didn't want to lose this game and he was pretty sure that his payers didn't want to either. Their opponents have been their rivals for as long as he could remember, which only raised the stakes of this game.

"Calm down, Jenkins. You're gonna pop a blood vessel." Someone joked, which earned a chuckle from the coach.

Jenkins shook his head slightly as he turned towards the person who just spoke. "Genie, nice seeing you, again." Jenkins grabbed the Guardian's forearm before gently bumping chests as a greeting.

"You know me. Wouldn't miss a tourney game for the world."

Y/N stood behind Genie, hiding from the man in front of them. She kept her focus on the grass below her feet as she felt the wind against her face, drawing out the voices of the men in front of her. This was one of the many things she loved about the wind. They didn't have it on the Isle and it served as a pair of headphones for people who wanted to seem like they were listening but really weren't. She tilted her head up, angling it so that she could feel the full power of the breeze on her skin before a small smile appeared on her face.

Yep, this was one of her favourite things in Auradon.

She sighed before opening her eyes as she scanned the school across the field. They were green, which was an even worse colour than their blue ones. It was like none of these prep schools had any sense when it came to creativity and they all followed the same colour scheme and design for their jerseys.

"Yo, I want some good seats." Genie tapped Y/N's shoulder, breaking her out of her trance. "I pretty much have an assigned spot at this point." Genie laughed as he motioned towards the bleachers.

Y/N nodded her head before following Genie to the spot he claimed as his. They took a seat behind Auradon's players' bench. The older man explained that he liked harassing Jenkins and throwing in the odd comment that'll make the players laugh. Y/N could only chuckle at what he had told her: she didn't expect anything else from Genie. The curly-haired man pulled out the bag filled with all the snacks and treats that he and Y/N had smuggled out of the kitchen moments ago, a small smile plastered on his face as he realized that a large bag of ketchup chips was hiding in it somewhere.

A content sigh left his mouth as he pulled it out before opening it and digging his hand inside, grabbing a handful of them. He placed the bag of snacks between the both of them so, that they could grab whatever they pleased whenever. Y/N followed the man's lead and pulled out something from the bag. She read the label before opening its wrapper once she dreamed it was good enough to eat. A small smile appeared on her face as she looked around the field, the summer breeze blowing on her face as she started eating.

She's never felt this relaxed before surrounded by a bunch of people. Typically, they were all screaming and running away from her, but now, it was like she was just your average teenage girl eating some snacks while watching her friends' game and yet, something was nagging at the back of her mind.

"Hey, Genie." Y/N looked toward the older man, who only hummed in acknowledgment. "Why'd you bring me here?"

Genie sighed as he placed the bag of chips on his lap. "So, that you can finally see what it's like to be a normal teen." He glanced at the girl beside him before devoting his attention back to the field. "I know what it's like... to feel isolated and alone. And I don't want you to have to go through the same experience because of something that you can't control."

He grabbed another handful of chips and shoved them into his mouth before going silent, enjoying the peaceful aura that nature that to offer them. Y/N looked at the man, a grateful smile appearing on her face before it faded and was replaced by a frown as she remembered her whole purpose in coming here.

She didn't want to kill him. Genie was one of the kindest people Y/N has ever gotten the pleasure of knowing, but she knew that she had to. They were bigger things at play here and things she couldn't risk losing, especially not over some father figure she met only a few days ago because of a mere coincidence.

Jay, unbeknownst to him, needed her to be strong for him and his safety and that was exactly what she was going to do, no matter the cost.
