Honestly wasn't planning on updating but I thought in honour of it being Jessie's birthday I decided to celebrate a goat being born today. Hope you enjoy!!

I groan slightly as my alarm goes off on the locker beside my bed. I aimlessly feel around for my phone before grabbing it. "Turn it off" Mal whines shoving her head into her pillow. I chuckle slightly as I turn off the alarm.

I quickly change into some tracksuits and a hoodie before quickly brushing my hair and teeth. "Where are you going?" Mal mumbles as I grab my glasses, keys and phone. "It's fine Mal just go back to sleep" I whisper. "M'kay" Mal sighs before she's asleep once more. I smile and shake my head at the forward before slipping on my runners and heading out the door.

I shiver from the cold as I walk to my car. The minute I get into the car I turn up the heating trying to warm up my hands before I start driving. I drive to the airport which is fairly quiet as the roads are pretty much empty. I yawn as I park close to the entrance and walk inside.

I rub my eyes underneath my glasses as another yawn escapes me. Probably wasn't the best idea to stay up late doing homework now looking back on it. I walk to the arrivals where to find my favourite Canadian standing tirelessly with her bags on her phone. I smile as I realised how much I missed the introvert.

But that doesn't mean I can't have a bit of fun with her.

"Oh my god! Is that's Jessie Fleming? The bronze medal Olympian?!" I squeal as if I was a fan. Jess looks up from her phone with a shocked and tired smile but chuckles when she sees it's me. But I don't drop the act I stand in front of her all excited, "It is you! I'm like your biggest fan! Can I have an autograph?" Jessie rolls her eyes but I can see a smile plain as day on her face and she opens out her arms, "Shut up and hug me".

I laugh but comply as I hug the midfielder and decide to pick her up and spin her around which emits a giggle from her. I hug her tighter as I place her down on the ground, "I missed you Jess". I could feel her squeeze my shoulders tighter, "I missed you too El". We stayed in the hug for a little bit longer before we separated and I grabbed her suitcase, "Cmon let's get you to your room, you must be wrecked". Jess followed me as I walked to the car, "I can take my bag". But I shake my head, "It's fine and I already know how tired you are just by looking at you". She huffs but continues to follow me. I threw her suitcase in the trunk and and quickly hopped into the driving seat.

"Thanks again for picking me up. I know you could be sleeping right now" Jessie thanks while we wait for the car to heat up. I laugh, "It's fine Jess I couldn't leave you to wonder your way through America without a guide. Beside I get to brake in my new car". Jess turns to me as I pull out of the car park, "This is yours?" I nod, "Yeah I brought it a little while ago. Thought it would be handy to have a car just incase". "Nice. I never knew you wore glasses" Jess smiles. I shrug as my main focus is on the road, "They're more for reading or when my eyes get tired than anything. Like I don't need them to see per say cause I don't need contacts for when I don't wear them".

In my peripheral vision I can see Jess shrug and smile at me, "I wouldn't expect the future of US women's soccer to wear such dorky glasses". I roll my eyes playfully, "What? Do I not fit the jock stereotype enough for you?" She laughs, "No". I roll my eyes as she giggles in her seat, "I'm only teasing. They look cute on you". I stop at a traffic light and pull off my glasses and hold then out to her, "They're not even that strong I bet you could see with them". Jessie take them and slips them up the bridge of her nose and looks at me. I aw at her as I look at her with my glasses on, "Awwww you look adorable!! And here I didn't think it was possible for you to look more like a dork".

Jessie blushes and looks around, "Shut up. Everything looks slightly clearer though". I quickly open my phone, "I have to get a picture of this". "Nooo" Jess whines and tries to hide her face. But I take her hands away from her face holding them, "Cmon Jess please! You look cute. I won't post it anywhere. I promise!" Jess groans and relents looks at the camera, "Fine". Jess eventually smiles at the and starts messing around posing slight pushing the glasses all the way up her nose causing us to both laugh.

The light turns green so I quickly hand Jessie the phone while I continue to drive. I start to hum along with the radio as I drive back to the dorms when I hear Jess try to stifle a laugh. I quickly turn my head to see her holding my phone most likely recording me. I shake my head as I start to sing to Jess as she record it.

Grips on your waist
Front way, back way
You know that I don't play
Streets not safe
But I never run away
Even when I'm away
Oti, oti, there's never much love when we go OT
I pray to make it back in one piece
I pray, I pray

I bop my head to the song as I start dancing in my seat trying to emit a laugh from her which succeeds.

That's why I need a one dance
Got a Hennessy in my hand
One more time 'fore I go
Higher powers taking a hold on me
I need a one dance
Got a Hennessy in my hand
One more time 'fore I go
Higher powers taking a hold on me

We finally make it to the car park as I park in the same spot as before. I kill the engine and I turn my full attention to Jess who is still no doubt recording and belt out the next few lines.

Strength and guidance
All that I'm wishin' for my friends
Nobody makes it from my ends
I had to bust up the silence
You know you gotta stick by me
Soon as you see the text, reply me
I don't wanna spend time fighting
We've got no time

And that's why I need a one dance

I laugh and shake my head as Jessie cheers and starts clapping, "Bravo bravo". I bow jokingly with a smile, "Thank you thank you I'll be here all week". She laughs as she hands my phone back to me and we get out of the car. We walk into the dormatories but I stop when I think of something, "Shit".

Jess stops and looks at me, "What's wrong?" I bite my lip, "I just realised I don't know what room you are and we can't get your key seeing as no one is at the office right now". Jessie sighs, "That is a problem isn't it?" I see Jess yawn and rub her eyes. I grab her suitcase and I tug Jessie in the direction of the stairs, "Okay cmon". "Where are we going?" Jess asks following after me looking about ready to drop. "You can stay in my room until we get your key in the morning" I explain. Jessie just hums following after me, I'd say too tired to argue about anything right now.

I gently drag her behind me to my room. I turn to her as I open the door, "Mal is still asleep so we have to be quiet". She nods sleepily as I lead her inside. "You can change in the bathroom" I whisper pointing to the bathroom. She whispers a small, "Thank you" before grabbing some clothes out of her backpack and getting changed. I quickly change back into a pair of shorts and an old t-shirt before slipping back into bed. Jess stumbles out of the bathroom looking at me to which I pull back the blanket for her. Even in the dark I could see her usual blush clear as day on her face, "N-no it's your bed". I roll my eyes, "Jess cmon it's fine I promise. Right now we both need to sleep". She bites her lip but gives in and settles in beside me.

I smile as she lay face to face close enough as she fit both of us on the bed. I chuckle as I pluck my glasses off her face which she had forgotten to take off. "Forgetting something?" I tease and chuckle lightly as she tries to hide her face in the pillow. As I quieten down and just as I drift off to sleep, I can feel her arm sling over me holding me close.

"Night El"

"Night Jess"

..........

"This is cute" "Are they always like this?" "Guys shush! You'll wake them up". I blink my eyes and rub then as I wake up hearing voices above me. I try to sit up but realise I'm trapped.

When my eyes finally focus I can see Mal, Teagan and Anika all standing smirking at me. I look down to see Jess lying on top of my left arm hugging my waist. I try to move my left arm but the action causes Jessie to holding me tighter mumbling something under her breath. I can feel myself blush as the others laugh but I'm quick to stop them, "Guys be quiet you'll wake her up". They giggle quietly before stopping. "So you and Fleming?" Anika suggests wiggling her eyebrows. But I just shake my head, "No it's not like that! We're just friends".

"You sure about that? Do you always cuddle together in bed?" Teagan teases. I can feel my cheeks get darker, "We didn't know what room she was staying in and we couldn't get a key because there was no one downstairs and I wasn't going to let her sleep on the floor". The girls nods finally stopping their teasing. We continue to talk but still staying quiet as to not wake up Jessie.

"What time do you get your ankle checked at?" Mal asks from her bed which now occupies the three of them. I prop my right arm behind my head and lean on it, "I think I just get it check while you guys start training and depending on how it is I'll probably join in afterwards". "We'll probably be doing testing soon seeing as we finally have the whole team together now" Anika reasons. "That's gonna suck" Mal groans beside her while I chuckle, "Says the international player". She chucks a pillow at me forgetting the Canadian sleeping beside me, "Careful! You'll wake her up".

I can hear Jess yawn beside me and moves a bit. "Too late" she mumbles rubbing her eyes. Mal scratches the back of her neck sheepishly looking at us, "Sorry Jessie". She sits up and stretches slightly, "It's fine Mal". Jessie blushes lightly when she realises there is two more in the room with us. Realising Jess's discomfort I subtly take her hand in my mine underneath the blanket, "Jess this is Teagan and Anika they're on the team with us". Jessie smiles timidly at the two who give her big smiles back. I stand up and pull Jessie up with me, "Well we better find out what room your staying in and get your key". Jessie nods as she collects her stuff. "I actually think your staying with me" Teagan speaks up, "your stuff was already sent over you just need to unpack". Jessie nods as she awkwardly shuffles. I shake my head at my friend, "Cmon let's get your key and then some food. We'll see you guys later".

The girls wave bye to us while we head down to get her key. We quickly grab the key from the woman at reception and head up to her room to drop her bags in her room. "Okay so you probably want to grab a shower after your plane ride. So I'll let you get settled for a bit and shower and then I'll come back and we'll grab food?" She smiles and nods, "Sounds good". "Don't miss me too much Canada" I call back as I walk out the door. "I'll try!" She shouts back and I laugh as I walk back to my own room going to get ready.

............

After showering and changing into a clean pair of shorts and a Nike t-shirt I'm back knocking on Jessie's door. I can hear some shuffling before the door open to a smiling Canadian wearing shorts and a white t-shirt, "Ready to go?" And then we're off walking to an on campus cafe that Mal showed me my first week here.

"So you excited to meet the team?" I ask as we sit down waiting for our order to be dropped down to us. She shrugs playing with her phone in her hands, "I guess". I adopt a soft smile on my face as I reach across the table and hold her hand, "Jess I know what your thinking. You'll be fine the team is great". She lets out a big sigh and messes with my fingers, "I know. It's just making friends...isn't exactly my strong suit".

"Well neither am I yet we were able to tolerate each other" I tease hoping to lighten her up a bit. Which works as she laughs, "Yeah. I guess we both were just an exception then". I grin at her from across the table, "I'm glad I was the exception then". She smiles but before she can say anything a waiter comes with our food and we tuck in. "So ready for your first game as a bruin on Friday?" I ask taking a sip of water. "I mean I'm excited. I just hope I play well with the team" she answers. I roll my eyes, "You'll be fine Jess. Besides I'll be right there with you". "Are you sure your ankles going to be okay for Friday?" She asks her face showing clear concern which makes me melt a little, "I'm fine Jess promise. I'll be cleared to play today and then we'll work hard to show them we should play Friday".

"You do know everyone thinks we are a rivalry going on in the media" Jess smirks. I raise an eyebrow, "You mean to tell me we don't?" We both burst out laughing knowing how bad the media it is when it comes to the US Vs Canada rivalry. "Seriously though. When I wasn't being asked about my "girlfriend". I was being asked how am I going to handle playing with my American rivals Elliot Griffin and Mallory Pugh" Jess giggles. I bite my lip remembering the video released at the Olympics, "I'm still sorry about that by the way". She just shakes her head at me, "Your fine El. Nothing I couldn't handle anything I just said the same thing the whole time that it was just a friend".

I nod trying to brush off this weird feeling I got at the word friend. I look at the time and see I have to making my way to the field for them to check out my ankle, "Well we better head. I have to meet up with the team physio and you have training soon". "Yeah I have to go back to my room and grab my gear" Jess nods. I pay for our food, much to Jessie's dismay, and we quickly go back to our rooms to grab our training gear. I quickly change into my new bruin training gear and grab my gear bag with my cleats and everything in it. When I walk to Jessie's room to see she's done the same. We make the quick walk to the pitch and the closet we get the more anxious Jessie gets.

So right as we get onto the field I stop her, "Look Jess you need to calm down. I think your more nervous now than you were at the Olympics!" She rolls her eyes but I can still see her lips up turned in a smile as she gives me a light shove, "Shut up". I laugh at her, "I'm just messing Jess. But seriously your going to be fine and if you feel uncomfortable Mal will be there and I'll be out soon to join you once I'm cleared okay?" She takes a deep breath and nods, "Yeah. Yeah I'm good". I smile and take her hand dragging her before she has the chance to change her mind.

We walk over to the bench where some of the girls have gathered and I introduce Jessie to some of the girls before I leave her with Mal and the others as I get called over to get checked but the physio. I was with the physio while for about half an hour while he checked out my ankle and got me to do some tests. I was practically bouncing when he said I was clear to play and to go join practice. Quick as I can I pull on my cleats and jog out to join the team. When I come out I see the girls are taking a water break and Jess is off to the side messing around with a ball. I run over and steal the ball off her and start juggling it, "Gotta protect the ball Canada". She laughs and controls the ball as I pass it back over to her, "How's the ankle?" I grin as I chest the ball down, "I got the all clear. So now I can go back to kicking you butt". She laughs as she touches the ball down and stops the ball dead, "In your dreams America".

Coach Cromwell then comes over to me, "I hear you got the all clear so you ready to join training?" I nod, "Yes Coach". She smiles, "Great I want you with the midfielders today and then based off how you do at training this week we'll see about getting you some game time on Friday. That's the same with you too Fleming". We both nod, "Yes Coach". After that we started back into drills as I joined Jessie with the other midfielders and soon enough it was time to scrimmage. A blue pennie was thrown my way and I was able to pull it on when Anika speaks up, "That's not fair! Elliot and Mal pretty much know what the others about to do". Coach Cromwell stops and thinks for a second, "Okay Griffin go on the red team but I want you to play in midfield". I shrug and take a red pennie, "Sure". I grin when I realise I'm on Jessie's team and high five her, "Let's do this Canada". She smiles, "You got it America".

It was soon realised that putting Jessie and I on the same team was just as problematic for the other team. Being use to playing at international level we were both able to see the game at a fast pace which have us an advantage over the other team although Mal was able to intercept some of our passes to get a break away. Jessie was being held up by a defender outside the box. I quickly run up the line and overlap her as she lays the ball off to the side for me to run onto. I run up the line and when I look up I already see Jessie in the box. I cross the ball before my marker has the chance to close me down where Jessie slots it away into the net. I can hear Coach blow the whistle calling an end to practice. We do a quick warn down and stretch before taking off our cleats.

"Okay what the fuck was that?" Teagan asks as we sit in the bench looking at Jess and I. I look at the goalkeeper while I untie my laces, "What?" "How do you and Jessie play so well together when you have never played together before?" Anika asks. "They have played together before" Mal interjects, "they played a pick up game before". "That still doesn't explain how they can practically read each others mind. Like how did Jessie know Elliot was going to overlap her. She didn't even look up!" Teagan exclaims. I look at Jess and we shrug, "I don't know. I guess we just work well together". "Well with you and Jessie in midfield and Mal up top and with that connection we're sure to win the championship this year" Sunny smiles. I shake my head, "If we're going to win, we win as a team. It won't be because we rely on one or two players it'll because we worked hard as a team to win this".

"She is absolutely right". I turn to see Coach Cromwell standing behind me, "If we rely on players to do all the work for this team we won't get anywhere so we're going to have to work hard to win championship. Elliot can I talk to you for a second?" I nod and stand up as we walk off to the side for a bit, "Did I do something wrong Coach?" She laughs slightly as she looks at me, "No your fine. I was just wondering what position do you prefer playing because I know you swap begin midfield and forward". "Uh I don't really mind usually I just play wherever I'm needed whether it be mids or forwards" I answer honestly. I don't really mind as long as I'm on the pitch helping the team really.

She just nods thinking about something, "Okay then that's all. I'll see you tomorrow Griffin". I smile, "See ya tomorrow coach". I walk over to the girls as I sling my arm around Jessie which causes her to look at me, "Everything okay?" I just smile and nod giving her a quick squeeze, "Yeah. Now cmon you have a room to unpack".

I couldn't wait for the game Friday

Hey guys!! Sorry if anything this was more of a filler chapter than anything I feel. But I included some cute Jessie moments.....so all's forgiven? Anyway at the moment I'm down with a really bad cold but my parents won't let me off school. So you can imagine how bad that sucks so I'm sorry if updates are going to be slow for a while. Anyways I hope you enjoyed. Until next time, bye!
