"And for solving the most difficult case our department has had in years, we're promoting Clawd Wold and Heath Burns to detectives," Lucas said. He smiled. "Make them feel welcome." For the first time since Caleb and Laura had disappeared from their daily lives, everyone in the station erupted in applause.  They seemed happy, excited. "Congratulations, men," Lucas whispered, roughly patting both men on the shoulder before walking past them.

"It's official," Heath said, moving his hands to his hips as he observed the room.

"What is?" Clawd asked. 

"We are the most important monsters in here."

Clawd slapped the back of his partner's head. "You're an idiot."

Heath let out a loud, hearty round of laughter. "You and me both,  genius," he said. 

Clawd rolled his eyes. "How we got both promoted, I'll never know."

"I agree. You shouldn't have been promoted," Heath said. Another smack to the back of his head shut him up, not counting the snicker that left his being. It quickly became clear to all the other detectives that Heath's main goal in life was to annoy the hell out of Clawd Wolf.
