I woke up, expecting that the entire past day was a dream. I just dreamed I had a twin brother who was the leader of the unlisted and now I would find myself back at my bedroom in the citital. But no, I was still in the tunnels below Sidney. I was glad that it wasn't all just a dream, but I had a lot of work ahead of me. "Are you ready Dru?" Rose asked me, making me start, reminding myself I was supposed to be Dru. "yeah, I'm fine," I responded, rubbing my head in confusion. The two of us walked out to where the others were waiting, and Jacob sent me a telling look. I had arrived with Mack, Jacob and Jaiu yesterday and we had made plans with the others. It was there I learned my last name, Sharma. Untill then, I didn't know I even had a last name. I was amazed at how little they had, and yet they were so happy somehow. Of course, even being hunted, they still had their freedom, which was something so few kids had, including me at this point. "You okay Dru?" Another girl asked me. I struggled to remember the name, Gemma. "Yeah," I said and then I stopped. I heard a voice in my head I thought had been gone forever, but I pulled myself out the haze to find everyone staring at me worriedly. "What's wrong?" All the Kymaras asked. Wait a second, I was sure there was only one Kymara. I closed my eyes and the room came back into focus slowly. Mack's eyes darted around nervously, promise you won't tell anyone?" He said to those who didn't already know while Jiau and Jacob widened their eyes and began to shake their heads rapidly. I was about to interject, but Mack started the story. "Well," the younger boy began, "this isn't Dru" it's Kal. Cue the astonished gasps, like seriously, it shouldn't be that dramatic. I started my story, "we discovered we were twins on that mission Dru and the others were sent on. I'm not sure how, but I was able to break the control of the implants. I came here with these guys." I pointed out Jacob, Jiau, and Mack and then continued. "And Dru went to the citital." I then stopped and looked at the faces around me. Dadi just looked shocked. I saw Kymara's face was torn, as if she wasn't sure whether to trust me or not and Gemma looked the same way. Rose and Vidia just looked ready to strangle me. Thankfully, Jiau stood up to vouch for my trustworthyness. I was touched he trusted me so much, but I didn't hold the same trust in myself. What if the implants took over? What if I couldn't control it?! I pushed those thoughts aside and we started on our plan. I was lucky they didn't just toss me out right there.
A few hours later, I left with Jiau and Mack to perform the next faze of our plan. I was suprised to see Regan, her eyes glassy and glazed over. I liked Regan, but she was not in control of herself and we needed to get out of here now. "Come on guys," I said, pulling the black hood over my head and starting to sprint, the others following suit. I realized Mack and Jiau were starting to fall behind, so I slowed down. I could see Mack was very out of breath, he was wheezing, and that couldn't be good for his health. "W..we..e nee..d t..oo s...plit u..p," the guy coughed out. I was freaking out at this point, but what about you guys? That can't be safe for you something inside me was asking me why I cared, but I pushed it down. I was sure it was the implants, trying to turn me into something I was not. But I could see from his face Mack was sure about this. "We'll distract them," Jiau said. And you just make sure this works. "I..I.." I started, they were the first real friends I'd had, besides Dru, and I didn't wanted to leave them. But they made the decision for me, taking off in different directions. I continued and could go faster admittedly to to the extra strength of the double implants. I wasn't sure how long I had been running for, but it was definitely over and hour. I had never been in this part of Australia, I barely left the citetal until I joined the unlisted, and I had never been all the way out here before. I began to slow, my fatigue catching up to me, and I could see Regan not close behind. Suddenly, I froze. Not again! By the time I could get my hazy mind back together, Regan was only a few feet away. "Kal," I froze again, but not from any implant. "The initiative needs you." That one simple sentence, in the cold tone of one who was there but not there, startled me, but wasn't enough for me to falter to much. "THE INITIATIVE IS A LIE!" I screamed despreately, hoping beyond hope that even a small part of her could hear me. But I quailed when those next words came out of her mouth. "You thought the initiative wouldn't discover someone had been impersonating you?" I accedentily let a gasp escape my mouth, but was still totally unprepared for her next words. "After he was found of course, he was terminated." I started to back up, but everything started looking blurry, and the next thing I know it I was on the ground. I started mumbling to myself, "No. couldn't be. he. My brother. Everything seemed blurry and Regan continued staring at me as calm as ever. I should have punched her, but I was feeling to delirious to do much of anything and my eyes closed on their own. The last thing I remember was absolute, undescribable pain. When I woke up, Kal Sharma had ceased to exist.
