When I wake up I'm in a white hospital room. I gasp in surprise, like when you wake up after you have a nightmare. At that moment I'm disoriented and try to yank the IV from my wrist but something is holding me down restricting my actions I look up to see a bunch of wires sticking out of many of the machines we use here in this hospital. My voice is weak but I don't care I call out his name. A few seconds later I see him peek his head into the door, when he sees that I'm awake he pulls his whole body through the door. When I give him a questioning look he answers back that I was calling out his name a lot while I was sleeping.
"How long was I...asleep?"
"You were asleep 3 days. Not to mention that you have 3 broken ribs, and your right leg is broken due to you thrashing while I tried to fix your ribs. In short... you almost died 3 days ago."
The breath went out of me, I was so close to death in the hands of Dr. Cullen, that scared me. A LOT.
"Dr. Cullen-"
"Please if we are the friends that we are, please call me Carlisle."
"Okay Carlisle has... has... my father been here to see me?"
"Yes, and he was drunk when he did come and see if he..."
"Carlisle tell me. Please?"
"He uh... tried to kill you by suffocation."

Carlisle's last word hit me. Suffocation. My dad had put his hands on my throat and tried to not make me be able to breathe. If I didn't know that Carlisle was strong I realized that I could have died yet again while I was in my coma-like state for 3 days. I looked to him shakily and nodded. He look surprised at me.
"I thought for sure that you would scream. But let me guess you are screaming on the inside? Is that correct?"
I nodded again. After that he told me to get some sleep.
"Carlisle can I ask you something?"
"Sure."
"Did he say anything about Baby Ruby?"
"Baby Ruby? No all he said is that he doesn't want custody of the kids. Listen how old is your baby sister?"
"She is 4 months and since... Carlisle you know we're my house is right after your shift go feed her she hasn't been fed since in the morning 4 days ago. (Screams) She might be...be...dead."
"Calm down, calm down or I will have to sedate you."
I tried to calm down but I just couldn't. I was scared for Baby Ruby, if my father hadn't hurt or... or...killed her she might be dead because of me! Eventually Carlisle had to sedate me, but before I passed out he said that he would go right now and then bring her to me after she was fed.
I fell into a deep sleep just as I saw Carlisle keep his promise. He was going to rescue my baby sister from the awful grip of my father's hands. He was going to my house to get her out.
