"Hey, how was your date with your soul mate?" Mom asked, smiling, as I went home that night. I told her I found my soul mate and was having dinner with him on the phone after Maddox and Isaac was done with their fight.

"Um... to put it simply, he's a jerk and I hate him." I replied bluntly.

"Whoa! What happened?" Mom gestured to the empty spot on the leather couch beside her.

I sat down and said, "Today I met this guy... Isaac. He's really nice and I like him, almost in 'more-than-a-friend' kinda way, but I can't because then I met Maddox. Who's apparently my soul mate... he was very nice at first... then after school, he came up to me, asking me out. But at the same time, Isaac showed up, asking me out too. And then I told Isaac that I already found a soul mate. He was petty upset... then Maddox and I were on our way to dinner, but he got really mad at me about Isaac and asked me to drop him off. So I did."

"Wow... honey, that's seriously complicated! But, I don't know how to help you... I mean, I've never been in a situation like that... although, I've never told you, but I've always thought that this soul mate business was weird... what I suggest is to listen to your heart. If you like Isaac, then you go with him. I guess sometimes your soul mate is just—it just won't work out. Fortunately for your father and I, it did. But for some people... maybe not."

I smiled. "Thanks, mom. I'll go upstairs to my room now to text my friends."

"Of course. Dinner will be ready in an hour, okay? Wanna watch a movie after that?"

"Sure. When's Dad coming home?"

"Uh, maybe in a few days."

"Okay." And with that, I went upstairs.

Yup. Some people have been telling me about your soul mate... when are you going out with him?

Crystal

It was supposed to be now... but he's a jerk. 'Cause while he was asking me out, the new guy Isaac was asking me too... Then Maddox got mad. He's making a big deal out of it... I'm starting to think he's bipolar :D

LOL, he just might be. Anyway, you're in some pretty deep, complicated shit... so tell me about this Isaac person. Carmen told me about him, actually. I saw him today and he's hot ;)

Should I do it? Should I call Isaac? Wait... I don't even have his number... wow, I could be so absent-minded. But I do know one person who might already have his number... the biggest flirt in Glassgate High...

I dialed her number and she picked up on the second ring.

"Hey Crystal!" Carmen's cheerful voice said.

"Hi! Um... I wanted to ask you about the new guy... Isaac Luethers?"

"Oh, yeah! You like him? But I thought you already had a soul mate!"

"Uh, yeah. I just need his number because he was using my notebook in Science and now I can't find it. I think he may have brought it home with him." I know it's absolutely horrible to lie to one of your best friends, but Carmen has an enormous mouth for gossip and I didn't want anyone knowing about me breaking the soul mate rule or whatever.

"Oh okay!" Carmen gave me Isaac's number and after hanging up with her, I dialed the number.

"Hello?" Isaac's voice said.

"Hi, Isaac... it's me... um, Crystal?"

"Oh."

"Yeah, I was wondering if you're still... up for that date offer..." Goodness, I can't believe I'm doing this.

"Whoa. Uh, what happened to your soul mate, or more like, homeless boy?"

I laughed nervously. "He—he's an asshole. It's nothing... so, you wanna go out?"

"Yeah. Yes, I'd love to... maybe Saturday? We have to do that English project tomorrow right?"

"Yeah. Uh... Okay then... I'll see ya at school tomorrow."

"Yup. Bye, Crystal."

"Bye, Isaac."
