It was an ordinary night at the Sturniolo house, with the usual chaos and laughter filling the air as Chris and Nick filmed another video. But tonight, Y/N had something up her sleeve—something that would definitely spice up the evening.
She stood by the counter, trying to hide the mischievous grin tugging at her lips. Matt was sitting on the couch, scrolling through his phone, totally unaware of what was about to unfold.
"Hey, guys," Y/N called over to Nick and Chris, who were setting up their camera. "I have an idea for tonight's prank. You down to help me out?"
Chris immediately perked up, his eyes glinting with mischief. "Prank Matt? Of course! What's the plan?"
Y/N leaned in closer, speaking in a hushed tone, as if this was a top-secret mission. "I'm going to refuse to give Matt his usual goodnight kiss tonight. I'll be all cold and distant. You guys film the whole thing. We're going to get his reaction."
Nick snorted, clearly entertained. "You're evil, I love it. Let's do it."
Y/N winked. "It's all in good fun, don't worry. But we need to act like it's no big deal. Just let Matt get all confused and annoyed."
With everything set, they began filming the next segment of their video, making sure Matt was none the wiser. But Y/N couldn't stop grinning. She knew Matt was going to get so mad, and that was exactly the reaction she was hoping for.
The night wore on, and as they wrapped up filming, the group settled into the living room. Matt had his usual spot on the couch, with Y/N sitting next to him, scrolling through her phone.
Nick and Chris were still chatting, but Y/N's focus was entirely on Matt. She could see the way he kept glancing at her, waiting for the usual kiss before bed. Y/N's stomach flipped with a mix of excitement and nerves. She had to pull this off.
"Alright, guys," Matt said, standing up and stretching. "I'm heading to bed. See you tomorrow."
Y/N barely looked up from her phone. "Okay, goodnight."
Matt paused, his brow furrowing. "Uh, no kiss?" he asked, his voice teasing but clearly confused.
Y/N bit her lip to stop from smiling. She glanced up at him, her expression blank. "Nah, I'm tired. No kiss tonight."
Matt blinked, clearly caught off guard. "What? Come on, Y/N. What's up? You always give me a kiss goodnight."
Y/N shrugged, trying to act nonchalant. "I'm just not in the mood tonight."
Matt stood there for a second, his confusion turning into a hint of frustration. "You're seriously not going to kiss me goodnight?"
The atmosphere in the room shifted. Nick and Chris were quietly watching, barely able to contain their laughter. Y/N shot them a quick look to remind them to keep it cool—this was part of the prank.
"I said no kiss," she repeated, her voice a little colder than usual.
Matt's eyes narrowed. "What is going on with you tonight? You've been acting strange all day."
"I'm not acting strange. Just tired, Matt. Go to bed," Y/N said, trying her best to sound uninterested.
Matt looked like he was trying to figure out if she was serious. He stepped closer to her, his gaze softer now, but the annoyance still lingered. "Y/N... come on. You can't be mad at me. You know I'm not going anywhere without my goodnight kiss."
Y/N couldn't hold back the smallest smile, but she quickly wiped it away. "I don't know what to tell you. Not tonight."
It wasn't long before Matt's usual playful demeanor slipped, replaced by an edge of irritation. "Why are you being like this? Is something wrong? Did I do something?"
At this point, Nick and Chris were both barely holding it together. Nick was already snickering, his shoulders shaking with laughter. Chris looked like he was on the verge of bursting, but Y/N kept her cool. She had to see this through.
"No, Matt," she said, rolling her eyes for extra effect. "I just don't feel like it. That's all."
Matt's jaw clenched slightly. He looked over at Nick and Chris, who were obviously trying to hide their grins. He turned back to Y/N, his voice more serious now. "Is this some kind of joke? You're really not going to kiss me goodnight?"
Y/N shook her head slowly. "No joke. Just go to bed, Matt. I'll see you tomorrow."
Matt stood there for another moment, his expression a mix of confusion, frustration, and maybe a little hurt. His usual confident self was faltering, and Y/N was starting to feel a little guilty. But she had to keep it together.
Matt sighed and rubbed his face, clearly trying to process everything. "Alright, fine. Whatever." He turned to walk away, but then stopped, glancing back at Y/N with a serious look in his eyes. "You really don't want to kiss me?"
Y/N's heart skipped a beat, but she held her ground. "I said no, Matt."
He just stared at her for a second before shaking his head, muttering something under his breath as he walked off toward his room.
The room was silent for a beat, and then Nick couldn't contain his laughter anymore. He burst out laughing, causing Chris to follow suit. "That was brutal, Y/N!" Chris said, wiping away a tear. "Matt was so mad!"
Y/N's smile faded a little as she looked at the camera, where Nick and Chris were still filming. She realized how hard Matt had taken it. She had expected him to get annoyed, but not this mad.
"Should I go talk to him?" Y/N asked, her voice a little more serious now.
Nick grinned. "Nah, let it play out. He'll figure it out eventually."
But Y/N's guilt was growing. She couldn't leave things like this. After a moment's hesitation, she stood up and walked toward Matt's room. Nick and Chris exchanged glances but didn't say anything. They knew what was about to happen.
Y/N knocked softly on Matt's door before opening it. He was sitting on his bed, staring at the wall, his expression dark.
"Hey," Y/N said, stepping into the room. "Matt, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. It was just a prank."
Matt didn't look at her right away. "You didn't have to go that far, Y/N. You know I hate being left hanging."
Y/N sat down next to him, her heart softening. "I know. I'm sorry. It was just supposed to be a joke. I didn't think you'd take it this seriously."
Matt let out a sigh and finally turned to look at her. "Well, I don't like it. I like our goodnight routine, you know? It's kind of important to me."
Y/N smiled sheepishly. "I didn't know it meant that much. I just wanted to see your reaction, but now I feel bad."
Matt raised an eyebrow, his lips curling into a smirk. "You feel bad? You're lucky you're cute."
Y/N chuckled, leaning in. "So... you forgive me?"
Matt shook his head, but there was a softness in his eyes. "Yeah, I guess. But next time, no more pranks like this. I'll get you back."
Y/N leaned forward, planting a gentle kiss on his cheek. "Promise no more pranks?"
Matt nodded, still looking slightly annoyed but also amused. "Promise. Now, kiss me goodnight properly, like you're supposed to."
Y/N smiled, pulling him in for a kiss that was everything they both needed. As they pulled apart, Matt grinned. "I'm still mad, but I guess I'll forgive you."
The camera in the corner of the room clicked off, and the prank was officially over. But the genuine moment between them made it all worth it.
Chris and Nick were still laughing in the hallway, but Y/N didn't care. She had made it right, and that was all that mattered.
