"THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!" A familiar voice yelled out as the voice echoed through the room just as I had arrived with Vidoro.
"Isn't that... The Marquis...?" I questioned as I caught sight of my ex-fiancé screaming at the knights at the entrance for blocking his path.
The duke and the other two brothers arrived at the scene shortly after myself as I turned to Vidoro for answers.
"The hell is he doing here?" I questioned as Vidoro only shrugged in response.
"I thought you would know, since you were his fiancé once you know." Vidoro responded as I immediately face-palmed, wasn't this kid supposed to be smart?
Who brings a person ex-fiancé to them when they're having a temper-tantrum?
Well, it's not like I was planning on taking even one step further into this room that I knew he was here so it doesn't matter anymore.
And it's not like they needed me here. Considering how the Duke was already here to take care of the situation and all.
'But I'm curious, why's he already back here after why happened last time?' I crossed my arms as the duke stepped forward to interfere.
It seemed like I was going find an answer out to that soon.
"Marquis Quarum, what is the meaning of this?" The duke question as he made his way to the door where the guards had been keeping the marquis.
"Duke Divinus!" Marquis Quarum's face immediately lit up as the duke waved his hand at the knights, telling them to let him pass.
"Honestly! I must say your grace, you must discipline these knights stricter!" Marquis Quarum glared at the knights as he strode towards the duke.
"How I discipline my people is none of your concern. I asked what the reason was for this behavior." The duke glared at the marquis. He did not seem happy.
"Ah, I apologize- You!" The marquis suddenly pointed an accusing finger at me realizing I was also present as my brows knitted together in irritation.
Shouldn't this guys sight be declining already? His brain seems to be but his eyes unfortunately don't seem to be lacking as much.
"HOW DARE YOU DO THIS TO ME?!" The marquis yelled storming past the duke as he marched towards me when Luden suddenly blocked his way.
"Marquis Quarum, please step back." Luden requested but his words fell on deaf ears as the Marquis continued to yell at me.
"YOU UNGRATEFUL WENCH! HOW DARE YOU GET ENGAGED TO ANOTHER MAN?!" The Marquis roared as we all turned to his with dumbfounded expressions.
'The fuck is this old geezer going on about?' Did he expect me to not get engaged again?
"Was... I not supposed to?" I turned to Avis who was standing right beside me as he only shrugged in response.
"OF COURSE NOT! YOU SHOULD BE ON YOUR HAND AND KNEES BEGGING FOR MY HAND IN MARRIAGE!" The marquis screeched as a vein popped out of his forehead.
"Eh? Why would she beg you? Father, I think the Marquis might be sick." Vidoro spoke up as his face scrunched up in disgust, similar to ours.
"You're right, Vidoro." The duke agreed while massaging his temple with a sigh.
"What other reason could there be for him to think that anyone with the surname "Divinus" would beg him for anything?" The duke added a moment later as Luden shoved the marquis back.
"I wonder, Marquis. Is this your way on looking down on us?" The duke questioned as Luden turned to the guards.
"W-what? Of course not! I wouldn't dare! But, your grace, the wench isn't even a true-" "You two. Show the Marquis out." Luden cut the marquis off.
"What?! No! Your grace!" The marquis protested but his cries were ignored as the Duke and Luden turned away from him.
"... Should I go back to my room?" I whispered to Avis as the knights seized the marquis once more and proceeded to drag him out.
"Yeah... Go." Avis responded as I immediately turned to leave, it's not like the marquis would be able to get past the guards.
But it would probably be better to not infuriate him any further. He was still only an old guy after all, who knew when he might faint.
I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't surprised when the brothers and the duke snapped back at the marquis for saying that I should be begging him to marry me.
But it's obvious enough that they only acted like that to keep the grand duchy's reputation intact by how they still refused to refer to me as a part of the family.
Even the duke referred to me as "anyone with the surname Divinus" instead of "My daughter" or "A child of a Grand Duke".
"Not that it matter to me all that much in the first pla-" "WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING?!" I heard the marquis voice yell out as I glanced back.
But just as I had, I caught sight of a vase flying towards me before everything went black.
-----
"Ugh... The hell... ?!" I groaned as I managed to force myself up from the ground into a sitting position.
"... Eh?" Confusion flashed in my eyes as I scanned my surroundings, everything was black. And I front of me was a... Screen?
"... What the hell is this...?" I wondered as I reached out to the screen, but just as my hand came in contact with the screen.
A line of percentages in different colored boxes with a picture of each of the games love interests plastered on the corner of the box in chibi appeared.
The crown prince, Luceus, 2%. Ehhhh? How? I've barely even seen him since arriving here.
The high priest, Aurum, 0%. Understandable, I've barely seen him as well.
The master of the magic tower, Anartis, 0%. The hell? How is it not in the negatives yet?
The first son, Luden, 5%. ... I've been spending all my energy into messing with this guy to get him to kill me and 5% is what I get?
The second son, Avis, 10%. You've got to be kidding me. Is this because of that one time I helped him with his skincare? I thought he hated that.
The third son, Vidoro, 13%. That's... Kind of understandable, considering how I've been spending more time with him than the rest and keeping him alive. Though he hates it.
But putting that aside, just what the hell is this? I thought there wasn't any fragments of the game left other than the book!
But I remember this exact screen popping up every time I clicked on the heart with a check button in the corner of the screen.
'But why is this only appearing just now?' But just as the question had come to mind, it was answered with the next tap on the screen.
["You have met the conditions to unlock a hidden quest of the game: Gain 10% affection from one of the interests, leave a memorable affect on one of the interests, and leave an unfavorable impression on a side character."]
'A hidden quest...?' Was that ever a function in the game? Or has it now been added since this game world has now become my reality?
["You can now call upon the game system for instructions, storing information, or viewing the love interests affection count."]
Well, that sucks. One of the main reasons I was avoiding the brother's affection count was that if it went up then my resolve to die would weaken.
["More features will be unlocked from future hidden quests and the risk of death will decrease by 2%."]
Nope, this was definitely not in the game, risk of death decreasing? What a joke- Risk of death decreasing?! This must be a joke!
["You will now be returned back to the reality, in case that this might be needed, the system will hold all the information in the instructions section. To summon the system you only must call out to it mentally. Farewell.]
"Wait- Hold up! What?!" I reached my hand out to the screen as I felt myself sinking into a familiar darkness only for it to phase through it.
To be continued...
I know this chapter is extremely short but bear with me!
I just couldn't push the deadline of posting a chapter any longer 😔😔
