You sat stilly in your bedroom, avoiding your mother. You knew she was upset and you were scared she would lash out on you. Last night, your mother had learnt that your father had died in a car accident but that wasn’t all she learnt. She ended up learning that he had cheated on her with another woman so, your mother wasn’t happy with this. When you walked out your room to tell her you were hungry so she could make you some dinner, she told you to go back to your room before you could say what you needed, so you did what you were told.

Luckily she didn’t starve you and ordered you pizza probably cause she didn’t have the energy to cook. But she didn’t really eat with you, she just stayed in her room. But later that day you overheard your mother talking with her friend on the phone. “I swear, (MF/N) why did (Y/N) have to look so much like their horrible father!? This kid is practically a spitting image of someone I want to rip apart!”Your mother angrily said over the phone, “Look, I know you hated…You know who, but your kid isn’t him you can’t control whose genes your kid gets''Your mothers friend said, “Ugh…I know, I just can’t believe he’d throw away so many years together! Did our days at that creek mean nothing?!”Your mother said.

You did a sad look and walked to your room, was your mom saying she didn’t like how you looked? You sighed and went out the door to hang out with the tea timers at the creek, they were your only friends and you knew they wouldn’t say anything bad about how you looked. So, you went to the willow tree where the tea timers hung out. “(Y/N)! You’re here!”Jane cheered seeing you, “I am…My mom is just being a total butt…”You said, “Ya wanna talk about it?”George asked, pouring you some tea, “Yep…”You sighed sitting down as Eliza pushed your chair in for you, she was the one tea timer you were most close with. You took a sip of your tea then started ranting about how your mom has been after your dad died and that you were starting to think you were too much like your dad. Luckily, they all knew how to make you feel better. They ended up spending this day at the creek doing things you liked and even got to try different teas and drinks you were interested in making but couldn’t do it without help.

Just when George was trying a new soothie you saw on social media you wanted to make, the dinner horn rang and dinner was here. You just hoped your mom wasn’t too drained to make you dinner. When you got home she just microwaved you a microwavable dinner and told you to eat. Oh well, it’s better than nothing…

After a month, you’ve been spending your days at the creek with Eliza, Jane and George since your mother was too upset to do anything, all you know about your mom and dad is that they used to play at the creek when they were younger, they got older, fell in love and had you. This morning you were about to head to the creek to hang out with the tea timers, you were already going when suddenly a cold hand was placed on your shoulder. “(Y/N), where are you going?”Your mother asked standing behind you, her hand not losing touch with your shoulder. “I-I’m just going to the creek…”You said, this conversation with your mother felt like it was getting more and more unsettling. There was an uncomfortable silence until your mother turned you away from the door and said something. “The creek is full of terrible kids, next thing you know when you find a creek kid that you think you can trust, they’re running after someone they think is better than you…Anyways, you won’t be at the creek anymore, that’s where I met your father and look how that ended…”Your mother said walking you away from the door.

You glanced to the door in panic, no longer going to the creek and seeing your friends? “But mom! I wanna see my friends-”You tried pleading but your mother shut you up. “No, (Y/N). I am a mother, a mother protects her children from dangers like your father. And the creek is how I ended up with a monster”Your mother said as you hoped she wasn’t calling you a monster since you knew she was complaining about how you inherited mainly your dad's traits. A man she hated now, you couldn’t imagine a life without your friends. They were the people you went to all the time, why did your mother have to be like this? The tea timers will probably think you’ve abandoned them.

2 years later

You were now 12, these two years without the tea timers have been torture. Sadly your mother still wasn’t over your father and you were still overhearing her saying she hated how you looked like your father. Of course this hurt because you felt like she was calling you ugly and being compared to someone that your mother thinks is better off dead made it worse.

This day was the last straw for you, you were minding your own business in your bedroom. Until your mother came into your room with a full plastic bag. “(Y/N), I need you to come into the bathroom. I’ve been meaning to talk to you about something”Your mother said, you then got out of your bedroom and walked into the bathroom with her. When you were there, she wrapped a long towel around your shoulders covering most of your torso. You did a confused look at the action and turned to her in hopes she would explain everything to you. “(Y/N), you’ve inherited a lot of your fathers traits…”Your mother commented, stroking her fingers through your (H/C) hair as you just sat there. “Uh…Yeah I have, I always did…”You said in confusion, “Well, we both know how terrible your father was and that terribleness can’t be passed down to you”Your mother began. “So, for now on you will get rid of your fathers traits, you can’t turn out like him, the least you could do is not look like him”.

Your eyes shrink as you see her grab some hair dye bottles and some bleach (Sorry the character you are using in this has a hair color that doesn’t really need bleach to dye hair, just pretend she didn’t have the bleach). You always liked your hair color and didn’t wanna get rid of it. Dying your hair like Jane and George was the last thing you wanted, you doubted she’d let you choose the color anyways. “Oh, and I got you a new outfit. Do you like it? Your last one looked like that suit your dad loved-”.

“Mom, no!”You shouted getting up from the seat she put you in, the towel she put around your shoulders was still on your shoulders but was coming off a little. “What do you mean?”Your mom asked putting the hair dye down to talk to you. “Enough of this mom! Ever since dad cheated on you and died, you’ve been acting terrible! I heard all the times you complained about me looking like him! Well I-I’m not dad!”You shouted, you have balled up those exact words for two years. “Dad's horrible actions aren't your excuse to treat me like him if he was still here!”.

Your mom went silent, guess she was more used to you not stepping out of line. But, your words didn’t stop what she was about to do. “Sit back down, (Y/N). You are to obey your mother, I’m trying to protect you from turning out like him!”Your mother shouted and grabbed a hair dye brush, you didn’t know what made you do it. But you grabbed a hair dye bottle near you and threw the dye on your mothers outfit. That should buy you some time to get out of there, screams from your mother filled the house seeing how ruined her outfit was, when she was busy screaming at you, you quickly grabbed your toothbrush and some toothpaste as well as some other things you used for your night routine. You raced to your bedroom to grab your things, you were getting out of here and that final. There was no way you were letting your mom control you, when you got to your bedroom you locked the door and put heavy things in front of your door to buy yourself time to pack your bags.

You set your night things on your bed and got out a large backpack and luggage, you searched your room for what you might need for running away. Your mom was trying to open your door while screaming her head off at you. When you just finished packing and checking if you left anything you saw some sprinkling rain start. “I need to hurry…”You mumbled throwing your raincoat on and got on some rain boots finally making a bed sheet rope to climb out the window before the rain could get worse.

You ran through the rain holding your luggage and had your backpack on your back, you walked and walked hoping to find shelter. Until, you came across the creek. Maybe you could find shelter there…

The rain ended up getting worse as you searched the creek. Unfortunately you haven’t found anything to shelter you, you already turned off your phone so you mom couldn’t contact you. But as you were running through the rain, you heard a voice you haven’t heard in awhile.

“(Y/N)”!

You turned around and saw your old friend Eliza, one of the tea timers you befriended all those years ago. “Eliza!”You called out running towards her, you saw how much she changed, guess she was still wearing a wig probably because her parents still aren’t letting her dye her hair. Her makeup was running down her hair as the rain ruined it, when the two of you finally were face to face with each other. You shared the first hug you had in two years, Eliza cupped your face to see that it was really you. “(Y/N)...This is actually you…”Eliza said in disbelief, her wet gloves felt glued to your skin. Just when you were going to speak, you heard lightning nearby which made you and Eliza jump. “Ah! Eliza, it’s awesome to see you too, but there's a storm happening!”You said, “*Sighs*, my house is nearby c’mon”Eliza sighed and ran out to her house away from the storm.

When the two of you got to Eliza's house, the two of you dried off and sat near the fireplace together. There was a short silence, until Eliza said something. “So…Why have you been gone…? Me, Jane and George were really hurt to see you weren’t coming to the creek…We all missed you ya know”.

“Eliza, I never wanted to leave…It was my mom…”You sighed, “Huh?”Eliza said, turning to you. You explained what happened two years ago when you left the creek and how you ran away even the part where your mom tried to dye your hair to get rid of the fact you had your dad's hair color. “Oh (Y/N)...Your mother really only saw your dad in you, that’s why she banned you from the creek…”Eliza sighed, she then got up and walked towards you. “(Y/N) (L/N), I’m bringing you back to the creek, your mother took away so much of your happiness for two years, two years without anyone…”Eliza said then hugged you. This ended up lasting a lot longer and her warm embrace was the cherry on top.

Time skip

After that day of reuniting with Eliza, she let you stay with her at her home. Thankfully Eliza's parents allowed it as long as you respected them and their property. So, this morning Eliza walked with you to the creek. You couldn’t wait to see the old and new faces of the creek kids, guess you had a lot of catching up to do. “Everyone, I see you’ve gotten my message about a special someone I’m bringing to the creek”Eliza said, You were hiding behind a tree, in front of her so many faces, faces you knew and faces you’ve never seen before. “(Y/N) (L/N), you can step out now…”Eliza said. You saw the shock on everyone's faces hearing your name, you stepped out from the tree and let everyone's eyes widen. “*Sighs*, (Y/N) go hug Jane and George…They missed you very very much…”Eliza sighed with her hands on your shoulders then moved out the way. You looked straight ahead and saw George and Jane running towards you then they both hugged you tightly. You smiled and hugged them back, you felt the eyes of the other creek kids on you finally in your happy place.
