I wasn't going to miss my duties today as well, first because my sisters can't do everything on their own, and secondly, because I didn't want my father to scold me.
So I woke up with the singing of the rooster at six am, ready to do everything I could with my injured leg.
Even if it didn't hurt as much as the day before, Lottie and I had exchanged our tasks so I only had to do the ones that didn't involve much movement.
I still needed to rest and not force it much.
After lunch, I had finished everything on the list and Lottie forced me to stay in and rest.
She actually left Daisy in charge of me so I wouldn't escape.
That's how my plans of returning to the beach that evening were replaced by sitting on the couch with my little twins running around me and asking me to play with them.
The fact that those green eyes weren't leaving my mind was preoccupying. But also I knew it was better that way.
With that I had a piece of him to hold on to, and maybe with that I can find him more easily next time.
I was excited to return to the beach now, to hear his voice again and to finally meet him.
That was the only thing spinning around in my mind.
When I heard my mother returned home, I left my little siblings in the playroom and I went downstairs.
I started helping her make dinner, and while taking advantage of our time alone in the kitchen, I decided to take a risk.
"Mom, can I ask you a favor?"
"What is it, dear?"
"Can I go to the city with you tomorrow?"
She stopped what she was doing and stared at me suspiciously.
"Why?"
"I want to pay a visit to the main beach..." - I trailed.
"Is this about your soulmate?" - She smiled mischievously.
"Yes." - I sighed.
"Did you find him?" - She asked with wide eyes.
"Not yet." - I shrugged.
"Okay yeah, you'll come in my car. I want to help." - She smiled. - "Don't tell dad though."
I smiled and hugged her tightly.
"Thanks you're the best."
"I know, dear."

Next morning I was way past excited.
I knew that I was going to see him today.
I just had the feeling, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
My mother dropped me on the main side of the beach on her way to work, not before giving me a supportive hug.
I smiled to myself and waved at her as she drove away.
I was confident that it was my day.
I walked down the beach to find an empty spot on the sand just to sit, observe and wait.
It wasn't any.
People in the summertime tend to get a bit invasive when they are here for vacation.
They were occupying mostly every inch of sand with their beach umbrellas and their lounge chairs.
And that's the reason why I love my side. The countryside. Where nobody is around and there's only peace.
Right now, with all these people, there was a lot of bustle, and no mind peace.
I took my shirt and my sandals off, mimicking the rest of the people.
I sighed and decided just to walk around, maybe if I kept moving I could spot those green eyes I hadn't erased from my memory.
That was why I was there anyways, that was my only mission.
I walked towards the edge of the water and let it soak my ankles, refreshing myself a bit from the summer heat.
I was so focused on my mission that I didn't even notice I was already sweating.
It was really hot today.
A lot of children were running around me, in and out of the sea, splashing water and playing with each other, their parents were close enough to keep an eye on them.
And they were kind of in the middle of my peripheral view.
I was starting to think that this wasn't the brightest idea. There were just so many people that I couldn't identify a single face.
I turned around and faced the people sitting down on the sand.
But one thing I was sure of.
He wasn't here just yet, I would have heard him.
I stepped out of the water again and restarted my walk along the beach, looking around and letting the water crash against my feet every time the tide went up.
As I was deep in my thoughts, a little kid was pushed by a sea wave right onto my injured leg, making me hiss with pain.
He said sorry and ran back to the water.
As for me, I closed my eyes and let myself fall on the sand, slowly massaging my leg in search of some kind of relaxation.
It was hurting like hell.
"Sir are you okay?" - I heard a feminine voice coming from above me.
"Yes." - I said as I opened my eyes.
"Oh, it's you." - She smiled.
That was Gemma.
Gemma!
I guess my luck was changing.
"Hey..." - I smiled.
"You want help to stand up or something?"
"It's not necessary."
"Well, the least I can do is take you out of the way of those mischievous kids." - She extended me a hand and pulled me up.
I rested my body weight on my good leg and then she guided me to a side, away from the sea and the way of children.
She made me sit on the sand again, away from the danger of getting kicked.
"So, now we're even." - I said, smiling.
"We are." - She smiled.
"Thanks."
"You're welcome. Look, I have to run back, but I guess I'll see you around. Let's hope it will be when none of us is falling on the ground." - She laughed.
"Wait! Before you go, can I ask you something?"
"Sure." - She squatted in front of me.
"I was wondering... can you tell me about your...?"
And suddenly a shadow above both of us made me look up.
"Louis, mate!" - Liam said.
"Liam?" - I raised an eyebrow as I looked up at him.
"You guys know each other?" - Gemma asked, pointing at the two of us.
"Yeah." - I sighed. - "How do you know each other?"
"I met Liam a couple of days back. We got on really quickly." - Gemma shrugged and Liam smiled at her.
"Oh! You're the Lifeguard!" - I almost shouted at Liam.
"Yeah, I told you that the other day. Remember?"
"Yes, but... nevermind."
"How is your leg mate?"
"It was better until a few moments ago when a kid hit me."
Liam laughed and Gemma shook her head.
"Well, since my job here is done and you're safe from those kids, Liam, can we go back to the hotel?" - Gemma said while standing up.
"Wait, Gemma!" - I said, much louder than I wanted.
"How do you know my name?" - She asked, turning to me again.
"I... mmm... You told me?" - I tried to lie. - "Anyways, I've been wanting to ask you something, do you have a brother?"
"Yes?"
"Is he here?"
"Yes, Harry is here."
"Ha... Harry?" - I froze.
"It's the only one I have." - She shrugged and laughed. - "Why?"
"You said he is here?"
"Maybe. I lost him a few hours ago because he went running, maybe he got bored and went back. Why?"
"Back to where?"
"Louis, you're sounding so weird right now." - Liam interrupted with a giggle.
"Do you know him?" - Gemma asked.
"I... don't."
Gemma looked at me suspiciously and turned around.
"C'mon Liam, let's go."
"I hope your leg gets better soon." - He smiled softly and followed Gemma.
It occurred to me to go behind him and follow them to the hotel, but that would have made me even weirder.
And I didn't want to creep out my future sister in law.
Besides, it's not like my leg could support walking around much.
So I sighed and let my body drop entirely on the warm sand.
At least I got his name.
He's not a stranger or an unknown voice inside my head.
He is Harry.
Now the only thing left to do was to pray Harry would come to the beach eventually.
